Cosy and quirky seaside cottage in the heart of Deal's conservation area

Located in the charming conservation area of Deal, Cow and Cockle Cottage offers a cosy and quirky seaside haven. A stones throw from the buzzing artisan high street with its delis, cafes, boutique shops and lively bars. The promenade and beach are just a stroll away. The property has been lovingly restored to offer a mixture of old and new, with a fabulous courtyard garden with its own bar. A king size bedroom and cosy log burner in the sitting room makes Cow and Cockle Cottage the perfect holiday home all year round. Perfect for couples.

Entrance is via the front door and into the sitting room.

Bright and spacious sitting room with sofa, armchair, Smart TV and wood burner.

Kitchen

A small but fully equipped kitchen with two bar stools and everything you need for home cooking. Electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer.

Courtyard garden

Delightful courtyard garden with a bar and seating area. Shed with washing machine and tumble dryer.

First Floor

Bedroom - Sleeps 2 in king size bed with two side tables, lamps and wardrobe space.

Shower room

With shower, WC and hand basin, and wall mounted hair dryer.

Things You Need to Know

Please note that there is not a travel cot or high chair at the house
There is an optional blow up bed for a third guest. Please speak to Keepers Cottages for more details.
WiFi available.
Free on street parking is available a short walk from the cottage. Two hour paid parking bays outside the cottage for unloading.
No pets.
There are steep stairs at this property.
The cottage is a 5 minute walk from the train station.

House Rules

We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages to our beautiful holiday home. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.
Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
Please note quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am. Please be respectful to neighbours.
Parties and loud music are not permitted.

Excellent stay

The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was compact but perfectly formed! We went to some fabulous restaurants within walking distance of the cottage, and really enjoyed Deal and the surrounding area.

New Year break in Deal

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cow and Cockle cottage over the New Year period. The cottage was perfect for our needs - it was well equipped, clean, warm and cosy. Set within the historic conservation area, it was close to a selection of lovely pubs, cafes and eateries, Deal train station, supermarkets, the beach etc.. As well as enjoying taking the train to Margate, Ramsgate and Canterbury, there is so much to see and do locally even in the December/January. Particular highlights for us included walking to Walmer Castle and Gardens, visiting Deal Timeball Tower and seeing the timeball being raised and lowered on New Year’s Eve, brunch at the lovely Deal Pier Cafe, drinks at the Deal Ahoy pub, Le Panadier Wine shop and bar. Deal has so much to offer, we would love to revisit. A special thank you to Finders Keepers and the owners of the property who were extremely helpful.

Sweet Cottage

Sweet cottage for two .. three would be a bit of a squash… cosy , great location, everything you need is there .. very narrow steep stairs with a rope handle so not for everyone but loved our stay .. would come again !

We had such a great time for the second time. It’s a really lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and in a perfect location. It’s so peaceful but minutes from the shops and pubs. It’s a little on the expensive side which stops us staying for longer, but it is really lovely.

Easter weekend in Deal

The property was great. Small but v cosy with a lovely wood burning stove. The Saturday market a few steps away was great and the usual attractions in Deal: cafe’s, shops, restaurants & pubs.

Positively lives up to it's description

I had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was warm, cozy and perfectly situated in town to get everywhere easily and to the necessities like supermarkets, car parks, etc.

Perfect location, cottage a bit disappointing

The location was amazing and the cottage was super clean and decorated really nicely. It was a lot smaller than the photos showed (I always expect photos will exaggerate but the place was tiny). The bed was very uncomfortable, to the point that I had to leave a night early because I couldn't get to sleep which is very unusual for me. There was a terrible smell of damp in the cottage, which also stopped me being there regularly, despite booking it to get work done. Despite the fantastic location and lovely style of the cottage, I wouldn't stay again and really would expect to be refunded for the final night, as the smell and bed really ruined the experience.

This is a great little cottage, has all the amenities and is a five minute walk from the town centre and sea front. There's lots of places to eat and drink in Deal and there's great walking along the coast.

Loved our time in Deal, and the Cow and Cockle provided a great home base for our journey.

We stayed in Deal for personal reasons, and the Cow and Cockle acted as an amazing home base for our travels in the region. We were amazed at how cozy the cottage was, and it provided everything we needed for cooking meals, planning adventures and a great night’s sleep. On our last day we managed to lock ourselves out of the property, and the staff at Keepers Cottages were very quick to respond and were extremely helpful in getting us back in to the property promptly. Extremely relieving that they were there to help us get back to what we were ultimately there to do: rest and relax! We loved our time in Deal, and the team at Keepers Cottages provided us with an experience that we will remember for a lifetime.

Cosy cottage in the heart of Deal

Our second stay at Cow and Cockle. This lovely cottage for two, is ideally situated in the centre of Deal. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and we would happily stay there again. Please note however: the stairs are quite steep.

Lovely cottage and town

The cottage had everything you needed for two and welcome gesture was also very thoughtful. We had never been to Deal and was extremely pleased we picked it, also cottage was in a very ideal position to all amenities from shops, beaches, pubs cafes all on your doorstep. At the weekend all the pubs had live bands playing music and one evening we travelled round them them listening to the different groups ( actually we were on our way home and ended up being out all evening) We also enjoyed the walks along the coast and will definitely visit Deal again, also had no problems with the parking for the cottage.

Lovely weekend stay for one. Perfect location, easy access to necessities.

A perfectly located cottage. Walking distance to train station, car parks, supermarkets, and - more importantly - the high street, market, pier and shore. Booked for one person, the perfect size. Good for couples too who are out and exploring - might be a little tight if two are staying indoors. Warm, cozy and very comfortable. Reasonably priced for off-peak. Lovely people at the booking office if you need to get in contact, very helpful.

Fantastic location. Lovely little cottage.

We loved staying here. Tiny cottage but everything you need. In a great position for the seafront and local shops, bars, cafes. The stairs are extremely steep so not recommended for anyone who might find that tricky but no other issues. Good communication with the management team and just as the listing promised.

A lovely, small, cozy cottage

A lovely, small, cozy cottage, right near the center of Deal. It has everything one could wish for: a fully equipped kitchen, a charming little backyard with seating area, and comfortable beds. Perfect for a couple. We've been booking with Keepers Cottage since 2016 and once again were very satisfied with the service. Everything was very clean, and check-in and check-out were easy.

Cosy cottage

We enjoyed our second stay at this cosy cottage, which is well located for the town and seafront only a short walk away. The cottage had everything we needed and the welcome gift was much appreciated. We had one issue with the heated towel rail which was promptly dealt with by the friendly owner. We look forward to staying here again.

The cotagge is the cutest thing ever. We already miss being there. We would gladly have stayed more days if we could. It was an amazing experience. Highly recommend!!!
