Verano en el río - Acogedora cabaña histórica de reunión rural, a 1 cuadra del río

A solo una cuadra del agua, en lo alto del acantilado de Island Heights, esta original cabaña de reunión de campamento histórico victoriana "L-Style" fue construida en 1883. Hoy se erige como una de las únicas cabañas originales para reuniones de campamento que quedan en Island Heights con muy pocas modificaciones arquitectónicas. Esta casa apareció en el NJ Star Ledger por su restauración, y es realmente una joya única.

Restaurada a su antigua gloria, esta cabaña de dos pisos tiene actualizaciones nuevas y modernas, pero conserva todo su encanto original. Incluye paneles de pino originales, vidrieras, paneles personalizados, revestimiento de tablas y listones, escaleras sinuosas y pisos de madera. Disfrute de la brisa del río desde el porche envolvente, camine hasta el paseo marítimo para ver pasar los veleros y ver nuestras famosas puestas de sol de Island Heights. Al otro lado de la calle, se encuentra el histórico lugar de reunión del campamento, que ahora es un parque con un pabellón, perfecto para jugar al frisbee, hacer un picnic o ver pasar los veleros.

O haga un viaje por el puente a solo minutos de Seaside para disfrutar de muchas playas del océano, atracciones o el Island Beach State Park para disfrutar de una relajante experiencia de playa y vida salvaje.

La nueva cocina de estilo granja incluye todos los electrodomésticos de acero inoxidable: microondas, estufa / horno, lavavajillas, refrigerador europeo, Keurig, tetera y muchos utensilios de cocina para pasar una noche. Hay 2 dormitorios arriba, el dormitorio principal incluye una cama queen-size con almacenamiento debajo de la cama y TV por cable. El segundo dormitorio cuenta con una vidriera de estilo original, una cama nido / día con dos colchones dobles y un armario para sus pertenencias. El baño cuenta con una bañera estilo 1940, con azulejos retro en blanco y negro.

The camp cottage is fantastic and beautifully renovated. Perfect location by park and pavillion!

The location is ideal for a relaxing and fun vacation. The cottage is wonderful, with well-planned renovations and a great location 1 block away from the river. The historical house has central AC, modern appliances and new floors. Very clean throughout and well furnished kitchen (with dish washer). Porch is shaded and relaxing. There's a fenced-in side yard, which is great for kids to play outside. There is a smart TV for kids after sailing, crabbing and fishing at the nearby Island Heights pavillion. My son brought his Xbox and enjoyed the big screen TV at night. We stayed at the cottage 2 separate times this summer, and the kids loved it! It was helpful to have linens furnished. Towels are new and plush. Bathroom has a good shower and tub. There also are beach towels, beach chairs and board games. Upstairs has a desk, which I used to work on my laptop while my son was at sailing camp. The owners have a binder of helpful info on sights to see and recommended restaurants. Be sure to check out the picture book of the renovations, which the owners carefully and personally undertook to the joy of the community. For the reasonable rental price I was expecting a rustic house, and nothing is further from the truth. I was thrilled with the modern and comfortable vacation home and look forward to returning next summer.

A welcoming place to call home

If you enjoy all the nuances of staying in a historic home, this is the place to be. The woodwork, ceilings and stairs are beautifully restored. The new front door and windows fit perfectly. It’s sweetly decorated. Bathroom downstairs has all you need and the kitchen is inviting to hang out and cook. Queen bedroom is cozy and bright, the second bedroom has a trundle bed suitable for small children. The location is on a sometimes busy street weekdays but so close to the Toms River with its boardwalk and gazebo, fun watching all that crabbing, Bay and the beaches. Beth and Brian are super friendly and responsive. Front porch great for coffee, side yard with table and chairs. Nice gas BBQ. All you need!

Step back in time in a quaint cottage a block from the Toms River. Has modern kitchen and necessary amenities. We loved sitting on the front porch and watching local life.

This is a lovely house situated in a lovely area and only a couple of minute's walk to the lake, a nice quiet area. The house has everything you need, the bathroom is downstairs but wasn't a problem for us, overall I would highly recommend this property.

Right at home....

Our family stayed for 4 nights in August 2018 - visiting family nearby. Our children (9, 11) felt immediately comfortable in this beautiful home. They literally had everything you could possibly need during your stay. Never did I think "I wish they had ....". Cannot recommend enough - we will definitely be back. 10 stars if possible!!

Quaint and cozy

This cottage is amazing and the owners just the same. My sister and I chose this cottage for a stay near Tom's River due to a death in the family. From the moment we walked in and smelled the soothing scent of natural wood and the cozy layout of the cottage we knew we would be nothing short of comfortable as if it were our home. When we stepped into the kitchen and saw the bottle of wine and chocolates, well what can I say!!! How did they know us so well? The sign hanging in the kitchen, "Adventure awaits" spoke volumes of the journey we would be begin as we unraveled the life of our estranged uncle and prepared to lay him to rest. Each day was very challenging for us to say the least, but we had the comfort of the cottage at the end of each day to save our sanity and cloak us in warmth as we sat by the fireplace and contemplated our journey through the experience. This place has everything you need, including attentive owners nearby who graciously showed us how to use the fireplace and accommodated our request for an extension of our stay.The beds are super comfortable and the entire home immaculate. If we are ever in that area again, I wouldn't consider any place other then the little red cottage in Island Heights! Barbara and Cara

The perfect beach rental

This property and the owners were absolutely fantastic. We booked this property as a last minute, end of the summer getaway, and it was perfect for our family of 5. We were pleasantly surprised from the first minute that we arrived, from a bottle of much needed wine waiting, to a personalized greeting, as well as coffee for the coffee machine. Beth has everything you could need and has thought of every little thing, and it was a refreshing and much appreciated change from the typical vacation rental. The fact that there were beach toys for the kids to use as well as a beach umbrella shows how attentive and thoughtful the owners are. Our children loved the house and loved that they had Netflix on the TV at night and a supply of board games to play as well. The house itself is beautiful, and impeccably clean. Having a 200+ year old house ourselves, we sincerely appreciate this cottage and know how much hard work and time has gone into making it what it is today. We loved the book showing the restoration process! The owners have perfectly recreated the historic beach cottage feel, and the house has a quaint, yet rugged sophistication to it that really made us feel at home. The creak to the screen door and the squeak to the staircase were soothing to the soul. (That’s not a complaint, please leave the creak and the squeak.) The front porch is great for relaxing at night and everyone in the town seemed very friendly, and the town is very quiet. You couldn’t ask for a better location, as it is one block from the water and boardwalk along the river/bay, and only a 15-minute drive to the closest beach. Almost every store that you could need is less than 10 minutes away from the house. Beth is a great host, replied to every question very promptly, and was courteous and honest. For only being a 4-day vacation, this is one of the best we’ve had, and we surely will be staying here again. Thanks so much! Jesse and Amy (and kids)

We had a lovely time

The hosts (Beth + Brian) were extremely hospitable. Welcoming notes and clear communication quickly helped for us to feel comfortable in this lovely home. It is a small house. There were four of us, 3 adults and one child. It would be a tight fit for a larger party. That said, it is a well maintained home and we did not lack for comfort. The area is cute with a pretty bay within a block. Although not on the coast, the drive was an easy 15 minutes to Long Beach State Park which is the nicest beach in NJ. For the price that we paid and the comfort + convenience of this home, we could not have been more pleased. Thank you Beth and Brian

Perfect little getaway

Beth and Brian were the perfect behind the scenes hosts for this beautiful little historic cottage lovingly restored. The home is gorgeous and well appointed with all the basics, from a well supplied kitchen to an outdoor grill to easy internet and a cozy front porch! Our hosts' personal touches made us feel right at home. You can walk to lots of fun local sites, including the docks on the river where one can stroll the boardwalk, fish or go crabbing, and a couple of local art galleries. The beach is a five to ten minute drive away. It was the perfect antidote to our frenetic lifestyle to retreat here and breathe! Thank you guys so much for a wonderful time!

Cute house at the shore!

We had a great time at the "Quaint Historic Camp Meeting Cottage". The cottage was impeccably clean and the owners were awesome and responsive. We were able to use the beach toys, beach umbrella and beach towels. The owner even left a bottle of wine for us! There were very nice areas to walk to and the café nearby served homey nice food as well. This was a very convenient launching place for visiting family in Point Pleasant Beach (reachable by back roads) where we were visting family. My only caveat is that the stairs up to the house and - in the house - up to the two bedrooms are quite narrow amd steep. Five star rating to owners!!

Amazing house

Definitely one of my favorite rentals ever! Owners were more than accommodating, house was beautiful. They did not miss a thing in providing everything to enjoy your stay. House was spotless and bedding and decorating was beautiful. This house will definitely be my "go to" every time I will be in the area.

Our vacation in the cottage was wonderful!

Our family had a wonderful vacation in the beautifully restored historic cottage. We spent our days on the beach of Island Beach State Park which is a short drive away. Island Heights has a lovely boardwalk along the Toms River where we enjoyed evening walks while my daughters ran getting ready for their fall athletics. The cottage is truly a gem! We had everything we needed...great WiFi, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, 2 TVs, and even games, books, and a piano. We loved sitting on the porch with our coffee in the morning and wine/beer in the evenings. Beth and Brian are great hosts who provided us all the information we needed to check ourselves in and also left a binder with everything we may need to know about the house, neighborhood, and restaurants. They checked in via VRBO to make sure we had everything we needed and to let us know they were there if we needed anything. Our vacation in the cottage was perfect! We are definitely looking forward to returning.

Wonderfully kept and homey Cottage

Our family stayed at this property and had a wonderful experience. The hosts of this home have added a special touch in every single room that makes it unique and cozy. It is a very clean property with every amenity needed . We enjoyed every moment of this stay and hope to stay at this property again!

This house was under severe disrepair when they purchased it. While many wanted to knock it down to build a larger shore home, they saw historical and nostalgic potential in restoring it, and making it a piece of history they could share with their friends, family, and others.
