This is a great spot to explore the many bays and coastal villages along the Yorkshire Coastline, as well as the vast open countryside of the surrounding North York Moors National Park. This characterful golden sandstone cottage is typical of this area, dating back to the 1800’s it was once the village lemonade factory, and sits on a peaceful side road with a stream running past the front door.

Stepping inside you are instantly welcomed into a spacious and beautifully furnished cottage, which is evidently well loved by the owners, with thoughtful little touches to make you feel at home. The living room has the wow factor, with an elevated electric wood burner and a huge beam adorned with flowers over the hearth. There are sofas as well as armchairs to unwind in, open the wooden unit to reveal the TV, or take the time to unwind with a board game together. The kitchen has a cosy cottage feel, with wooden-topped units as well as an island and a bespoke handmade bench at the perfectly sized dining table beneath a beamed ceiling. Upstairs you have two wonderful bedrooms to choose from, both have their own TV, and have high quality bedding and mattresses ensuring you have a revitalising deep sleep. The family bathroom has a cubicle shower as well as a separate bath so that you can start or end each day with a refreshing shower or a relaxing soak.

Loftus town is small but it has a range of amenities, including a small convenience store as well as a bakery, cafe, pubs and takeaways. Just a 30-minute walk will take you into neighbouring Skinningrove where the hidden gem of Cattersy Sands awaits, this is an incredible golden beach that is still relatively undiscovered and peaceful all year round. You also have Staithes which is a characterful little village around a picture-perfect harbour less than 5 miles away.

The Cleveland Way hiking trail connects many fabulous coastal villages and towns which are all scenic and unique, perfect for days out. There is Saltburn-by-the-Sea, a surfers’ paradise with a Victorian pier; Runswick Bay, a sheltered bay perfect for paddleboarding with a stunning beach; Sandsend with a beach stretching as far as your eyes can see, as well as the now famous Whitby, steeped in history with an iconic abbey as well as the cobbled old town. You can even hop on the bus that goes from Loftus up and down the coast if you prefer to leave the car for the day.

The wide expanses of the North York Moors is also on the doorstep, with many attractions, including the Danby Moors Exhibition Centre, the steam railway and fantastic walking trails. This is the perfectly positioned cottage for a varied and unforgettable holiday. This property has the bonus of two designated parking spaces, they are just over the road on the other side of the stream – as the property was built before cars were popular. It is less than a minute’s walk to get to and from your car.
