Comfortable and safe.

This was our 2nd stay at the Tucked away cottage and we wouldn't ask for anything to be changed it was a perfect house with great wildlife out the back at night, should we ever come down to Huddersfield in the future we will definitely be booking the same property again.

The property was exactly what we wanted for our stay.

The property was clean and equipped with all that we needed, the hosts were honest about the towels (which were fine!) suggesting we bought our own if we wanted. Really central to what we needed, instructions to the property and how to use equipment in the property very clear, videos sent explaining everything. Very warm and cosy!

Would not recommend this property

This booking was difficult from the beginning, very complicated to send money for payment directly to the owner. Then had to download WhatsApp to receiving check in videos and details. When we arrived at this property we entered the property to find the downstairs had not been left open even though we requested the extra room. The couch in the living room was dirty and stained, there were spiders and spider webs in most of the rooms. There was hair all over the stairs, the fridge was not clean, the sponge left in kitchen Was disgusting. There were small hand towels left as bath towels and not enough towels were left. Once we gained access to the basement level we found d it very smelly of dampness and when we pulled out the extra bed we found the quilt very damp almost wet. With the dirty and stains and smells in the basement we could not stay at the property and left the property locked and secure and went to a hotel. I would not recommend this property at all. When we contacted vbro we were told we could not get a refund. Owner would not provide a refund.

Disappointed and stressful experience.

Opted for this listing as advertised as pet friendly. Once booked, paid and informed we would be bringing our dog we were given an extensive form to complete before the owner could make a decision. Also advised of additional per night fee to cover 'cleaning'. Also advertised as having a third room that can be accessed with a charge to cover cleaning. When requested, we were told it would be an additional nightly charge. I also didn't understand why I was asked by the owner, before the free cancellation date, to pay him the overall fee plus £100 deposit, directly and I was sent his bank details. As I had booked through VRBO, I expected payments to go through them. I did query this and was told this is how he does it. We also had money deducted from our deposit when we were told there was a mark on one of the carpets. I still refute this as there were no drinks taken into that room and the area marked had had a pull out bed covering it. We were not given the opportunity to look at this or discuss further. After we had checked out I was asked about bedding being removed from one of the rooms. The beds had been stripped and bedding placed in a pile on the floor. I was told the matter would need to be 'interrogated'. Aside from this the property had areas that weren't clean. Very poor quality towels and had a stain,lots of dust, hairs, not hoovered in places, dead flies, damp basement room (have photos but unable to upload). +ve good shower, nice garden, quiet area
