Modern spacious apartment disadvantaged by external & internal steep stair access.

Apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and reasonable walking distance to Whitechapel tube station. Property manager was very accessible, helpful and offered assistance on check out with luggage. No lift & split-level apartment made access up narrow stairs very difficult. Overall rating reduced as not disclosed, Entrance stairwell gives bad impression. Improve amenities: kitchen not set up for 6-8 (cutlery missing) nowhere to dry washing, no coffee table. Unsuitable if can't climb stairs.

The listing didn't disclose that the apartment was split level or there was no lift access, making access up five flights of narrow steps with luggage (or prams), or anyone with fitness/health issues, very difficult. The top floor apartments were added to an existing older building on a main road. Maintenance of the building entrance is poor - holes in stairwell walls are unappealing on entry.The apartment itself was spacious, modern, quiet and clean, with verandahs around the living area, bedrooms and bathrooms on the top level, one toilet in the living area.While the listing advises that it sleeps 8, amenities provided do not support 8 or even six. For example, no full cutlery set for 4, small washing machine, but nowhere to hang or dry washing, no coffee table in lounge, broken ironing board in apartment but no iron (not listed as provided) and cleaner's products and cleaning cloths left in kitchen cabinets. Maintenance required to fix broken chair, attach wands to vertical blinds and clean lounge chair stains.Property manager was very accessible & very helpful when advised of stairs difficulty on arrival and other requests and offered assistance with luggage on check out which was greatly appreciated.Whitechapel tube station & Whitechapel markets - 10min walk, supermarkets across the road, restaurants close by and bus routes on the main road.Apartment would suit families with older children or adults able to climb steep stairs.
