The Space:

Tucked away in the heart of Alnmouth village, Sonsy Cottage is a beautifully styled stone retreat that perfectly blends coastal charm with modern luxury. Just a short stroll from the golden sands, welcoming pubs, and vibrant cafés, it’s the ideal base for couples, families, or friends seeking a truly relaxing escape on Northumberland’s stunning coastline.



Step inside and you’re greeted by a warm, characterful living space that instantly feels like home. Deep green velvet sofas, vintage-inspired wallpaper, and the impressive stone inglenook fireplace with a cast-iron wood burner sets the scene for cosy evenings after windswept walks along the beach. Enjoy movie nights with Sky Essentials and Netflix, or simply unwind by the fire with a glass of wine in hand.



At the front of the cottage, the light-filled Orangery-style kitchen and breakfast room is the real showpiece, with its striking glass atrium which floods the space with sunshine by day and starlight by night. Cook up local produce using the well-equipped kitchen, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine and a thoughtfully stocked larder filled with herbs, spices, and essentials for your stay. It’s the perfect spot for leisurely breakfasts or long, laughter-filled dinners.



Downstairs also features a beautifully finished shower room with a large rainfall shower; stylish, fresh, and designed for comfort.



Upstairs, two elegant bedrooms continue the cottage’s blend of tradition and design flair. The main bedroom features a decorative cast-iron fireplace and a stunning ensuite bathroom adorned with William Morris artwork and vintage mid-century furniture. The second bedroom is very snug and compact, offering a calm and restful space with flexible sleeping arrangements to suit couples or families alike. Both bedrooms at Sonsy Cottage offer zip & link beds so please let us know your preferred layout after booking.



Outside, a sunny, secluded courtyard garden provides a peaceful haven. Surrounded by mature planting, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening air.



Sonsy Cottage enjoys a tucked-away position on Osborne Place, reached via a pretty footpath that enhances the sense of peace and privacy - yet it’s just moments from everything Alnmouth has to offer.



From its sweeping sandy beach and golf links to its galleries, independent shops, and award-winning eateries, Alnmouth captures the very best of Northumberland’s coastal life. Excellent transport links via the nearby mainline station make day trips to Newcastle, Edinburgh, and beyond effortless.

Sonsy Cottage is accessed by a shared path. Please note that this is unlit.



Free on-street parking is available nearby on a first come, first served basis.



Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at Sonsy Cottage per reservation.

Two bus routes operate in Alnmouth offering access to Alnwick, Ashington, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Morpeth and Newcastle upon Tyne.
