Once home to the head groom at an old rectory, this charming Uldale cottage makes an idyllic romantic retreat. Sleeping two guests, it offers sumptuous, one-bedroom, single-storey accommodation, where you can unwind in comfort after exploring the Lake District National Park. Venture 4 miles from the cottage, which is 1.5 miles from Ireby and 5 miles from Caldbeck, to find yourselves on the shores of tranquil Bassenthwaite Lake. Keswick, beside Derwentwater, is 11 miles away and offers opportunities for shopping and dining out, as well as lakeside walks. You can hire canoes or take in the scenery from a cruise at the marina, 2 miles further on. Colourful Cockermouth, where you can visit the childhood home of the renowned English poet William Wordsworth, is 11 miles from the cottage. Plan a day at the coast at Allonby, 16 miles away, where you can walk out along the open sand and shingle.
Pause for a moment to enjoy the stillness before stepping inside your holiday haven. Feel the stresses of your daily life lift from your shoulders as you find yourself in exquisite accommodation that is friendly and welcoming. Pause to unpack your shopping in the kitchen, which has wooden cabinets and dark work surfaces, before heading on through to the lovely lounge/diner to relax. Take a seat on the comfortable sofa or lay a fire in the wood burner, which has been positioned in front of a strip of revealed stonework. Find your favourite box set on the Smart TV while the fire glows gently in the background.
