We stayed here 3 years ago and we enjoyed it both times. Our dogs loved the fenced backyard and we all enjoyed the short walk to everything downtown. The bathroom has been updated and is really nice. The house is cozy and comfortable. We have stayed in several other properties in Bar Harbor and we like this one best for our travel needs.

We had a lovely stay! The house was in a great location. It was walking distance to town but located in a quiet neighborhood. The backyard was huge and our dogs loved it.

My family had an incredible stay here! It’s a really comfortable, clean house with a spacious fenced backyard that my kids and dog loved. It’s a very quiet neighborhood that’s also a five minute walk to the village green. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Barbara was a great host and very responsive. The house was well laid out and well stocked from towels to kitchen needs. House was clean and the fenced in yard was perfect for our dog to run around off leash. Great location with only a 7 minute walk to the Green.

We had a great stay at Shannon Cottage! Barbara was lovely, very organized and communicative. She had some flowers and chocolates out for us when we arrived, and pointed us in the right direction when we needed to find a car mechanic! The cottage was cozy and clean, and the yard was fenced in securely so our dog could safely go out. There was also a spot that was consistently shady so we could play soccer outside comfortably any time of day. The location was perfect—the street was quiet, but it was a short walk to town. While our car was getting fixed (there is a mechanic right down the street and they have another shop about 4 miles away), we found we could get anywhere we needed to go by walking to the village green and taking the free island explorer busses. Dogs allowed! The grocery store, Hannaford, is also a short walk. Bar Harbor was awesome as usual—There is a great new bookstore behind Reel Pizza, we had popovers at The Stadium, there is yoga at 9:00 every morning on the lawn by the beach walkway, and Diver Ed’s Dive in Theater, at College of the Atlantic, was like an educational 2 hour stand up show! We had a minor medical emergency while we were there, and the hospital was also within walking distance to the cottage. Barbara was a great host, and we would definitely want to stay there again!

Downtown cottage

We loved everything about our stay at the shannon cottage. Barbara was very responsive.The house is fantastic, very well equipped kitchen, the grill in the backyard is new. The yard was incredible, totally fenced in. The dogs loved it, it was safe for them. The wrap around porch was a favorite place for breakfast, afternoon snacks and cocktails. The house is well maintained, the bathroom is brand new and gorgeous. The beds were very comfortable.The house was spotless. We loved it, look forward to returning.

Shannon cottage exceeded our expectation!The location of the cottage was walking distance to everything in just a few short minutes. The check in process was super easy. It was clean, well taken care of and had everything we needed. The amenities at the home were perfect. The fenced in yard was perfect for our little French bulldog. We would highly recommend Shannon cottage to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Bar Harbor.

Wonderful stay!

We have stayed at Shannon Cottage many times. It is very comfortable and well stocked. The location is perfect! It is in a quiet residential area just a couple of blocks from the town square. The fened yard is great for our dogs. The owner is lovely and provides a personal touch.

Another nice stay at Shannon Cottage

This is our 4th stay here, I think. Have lost track. It's amazing how quiet it is considering how close it is to BH ctr. We value being able to park the car (plenty of room for multiple cars although we only ever have one) and walk everywhere in town after a day in the park. Not only close to restaurants but also < 10 minute walk to the YMCA

Great location and responsive host! Needs improvement in cleanliness And maintenance.

Shannon cottage from the outside is charming and the location is fantastic. Barbara is very responsive and very helpful. Perhaps because it was the end of the season, the bathroom was not very clean, and there were a number of minor maintenance issues that need to be addressed which we communicated to her.

Great Stay in Bar Harbor

While we had some unexpected events happen while we were on our way to and in Bar Harbor we are very thankful we truly had a home away from home! Anything and everything we could have needed was at the house and a lovely treat was waiting for us from Barbara too! Having a single story worked great for the aging family members we had with us as well. Overall I couldnt have wanted or needed anything more for our stay. We will be back to stay again!

Great Location in a Quiet Neighborhood

We loved staying at this cozy cottage! It’s conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants, shops and the waterfront. And it’s just a very short drive to explore Acadia National park. The neighborhood is very quiet. Our pup enjoyed the fenced-in backyard too 🐶 We’re looking forward to coming back to Bar Harbor soon!

Quiet home near main street Bar Harbor

We were a family of 5 that stayed for a week. The house was immaculate and very well stocked. The host, Barbara was very attentive, although we really didn't need to contact her for anything. The location was great. The neighborhood was quiet, which was a nice contrast to the bustle of main street. Had we brought our dogs there was a very nice fenced in yard. The twin beds were a little stiff and while the house was air conditioned it was done with units, the main one being in one of the bedrooms. It was quite loud, but all of the units together did the trick. We turned the main one off at night after the house cooled down and were quite comfortable. This is the perfect place if you want to be close to main street but also would like your space and privacy. Would definitely stay again.

As good as a high end hotel

This property was amazing. Yard and house was much bigger than expected. We had 4 adults, one kid, and 2 large dogs and had room to spare. Perfect location off of main roads but short walk to everything. Everything was stocked more than any other place I've stayed. Its clear the owners take pride and joy in this place.

Wonderful stay in Bar Harbor

Shannon Cottage was a great home base for exploring all Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park has to offer. The house was well-stocked with essentials and kitchen gear. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for our dog. The host was communicative and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great relaxed house in a perfect location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property and would do so again. Clean, comfortable, everything we could need was there, and the location was perfect for exploring everything while an easy walk to town. Our pups enjoyed the yard and were at ease in the quiet neighborhood. The owner communicated well and promptly. We even had fresh flowers! Thank you Barbara for a wonderful place to stay for our vacation! Made some great memories with our daughter.
