Great location, Terrific Pool Club-the Perfect Rental Property and so close to downtown Panama City
We were a family of four, 2 adults and 2 adult children. Panama City is a big city and we wanted to be in or near Panama City and have a beach style vacation. This is not available in Panama City. This condo property is just 5-7 KM out of the city (2.5 miles as the crow flies) and is a wonderful condo tower adjacent to the Westin Bonita Hotel. The Casa Bonita tower has a private pool club associated with it, the Pearl Club and this is a wonderful pool club setting adjacent to the beach. The Club has a workout club, interior and exterior seating, a game room, poolside seating with canopy, kayaks, and a bar/lunch area and a spa for those who desire treatments. We enjoyed the Pearl club and found no need to invade over at the Westin Pools, as they were not as private and relaxing as THE PEARL CLUB. Some condos in this building have a membership at the club, and for those without the membership, the fee is a small $100 fee per week for 4 people. Very inexpensive for the value. There is a pool on the roof which we did not use, a game room, and a workout athletic room on the upper floor of the tower. Ina addition there is a barbecue area ( a $45 fee applies ) however we did not partake in the use of this. Views from the roof are wonderful.
The condo itself was very pleasant, had cable and wifi. The kitchen area was very acceptable, the common living room comfortable, the master bed and bath quite large and comfortable, the twin bedroom adequate and comfortable and a very nice outside deck area with a small table and chairs and a small couch for two.
As we wanted the nightlife and restaurants of the city and the old town charm (as well as the new city area) we rented a car to go in and out of Panama City. Traffic can be heavy at times going in and out of the city as the Bridge of Americas needs to be crossed and feed in roads to the bridge are mediocre at best. There are plans for the road systems to be improved and for a new bridge in the future. You can also uber in if you want as we did on two nights as parking where we were going was uncertain to us at the time. Many of the restaurants in the new city area all have Valet parking but some of the areas in the old city did not. We are a late dining family and once we understood the traffic situation, we worked around it., and as a late dining family we did not encounter big traffic.
There is an American style grocery store about 15 minutes away. This condo, the location is highly recommended by me.
