The views in the room are Spectacular! It's a beachfront corner unit so you get the straightline sight out to the ocean and the beachline sight to the North. The home is updated, has everything you need for a comfortable stay including beach items. If you're on the fence, book it! You will not be disappointed, I promise.

Three day weekend in Maui

The living room and dining room areas are very bright as it is a corner unit and has that additional light from the north facing picture window. New kitchen, rehab; since the bathroom has the same tile, I would assume it also was rehab. Very nice!

Beautiful views, poorly equipped kitchen

We loved the views and it was super handy to have a pull out couch since my husband is a night owl and I’m an early riser. We usually cook most of our meals but we found it challenging in this condo due to sparse cookware and weird dishes (tiny bowls and cups, a few mismatched plates). Other than that it was a lovely stay and we would recommend it if you’re not traveling on a budget.

Nice views, but very dated building and unit

The unit has a very nice views of the ocean. However, the building and the unit are very dated. The pool is small and not very nice to use. The unit provides limited towels and very small amounts of shampoo, etc. The couch is uncomfortable. Honestly, if you just need a place to sleep it's probably ok. You won't want to spend a ton of time in this unit though.

Tired Unit With Amazing Views

The views from this unit are amazing. We were there during whale season so we saw whales daily from the lanai. The unit is very TIRED...I knew that when I booked it. Some indoor furniture has been changed so updated pictures on the listing would be good. The current sofa is a light color and needs cleaning. We put a blanket over it for the duration of our trip.The location is within walking distance of the beach walk, food trucks, and a grocery store. There is ample parking available. The view and the lanai are the unit's greatest assets. The unit could be spectacular with minor updates.

Disappointed

Been staying at Maui Kai for years. Toured this unit some years ago, and were then impressed. Finally tried it - now very worn and aged. Paint chipping, sink stained, cooking utensils scraped or non-existent, etc. Short on basics such as paper products. Badly needs work. Sadly the state of this unit reflects the state of the entire property. Still a lovely location and view, and hopefully will be fixed up.

We were there in early March before COVID lockdown. Sitting on the patio watching the whales was awesome. The view is awesome. We did a lot of our own cooking. BBQ by the pool nice to have. The kitchen was well stocked w/ everything we needed. The furniture newer and comfy. The one con is that we were with our 14 year old son and this complex caters to older people (some full time residents?), there were no other kids. And because next door is a resort it is a stark difference between the pools and guests. Everyday he wished he could be next door with the other kids in the big awesome (Oceanside) pool. We called to ask about a day pass and they do not offer it. Also note there is no beach left for this complex, but we could navigate a rocky path to the little beach next door.

Great Stay!

Stayed 3 nights and unit had everything we needed. Unit has had improvements based on pictures in listing. Carpeted areas have been replaced with vinyl flooring and the couch and other furniture has been replaced as well. Unit did provide ice chest, beach chairs and a snorkel mask. Bed was very comfortable and the unit was very quiet during all hours. Plenty of pots and pans for cooking. Amazing view and being a corner unit really adds value to the view. Parking was easy and beach right next door. Would definitely stay here again!

Could be a five star condo.

We just stayed at Maui Kai 508 from January 19, 2022 through January 29, 2022. What keeps us from giving it five stars are a few things: The couch and chair were very uncomfortable. The couch cushions had a broken springs that poke upward and make it unusable for more than a few minutes. We could live with it being worn, but it needs to be usable. The recliner chair was also uncomfortable and needs to be changed. All of the windows are broken and would not open properly, so no cross breezes. Lastly, the AC makes clicking and banging noises which kept waking us up. On the positive side, the views were incredible from the lanai. The kitchen was updated and well equipped except for grilling utensils. The king bed was very comfortable. For a relatively small amount of money, this could be a five star unit. Perhaps the owner is unaware.

Happy guests of MK #508

We’ve stayed at the Maui Kai annually since 2000 and have stayed in many different units. Your unit was by far our favorite. We loved the open lanai with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean, Lanai/Molokai, and also the beach to the north. This corner unit felt very open and bright with windows in the dining area, bathroom, & back bedroom. Basically a different view from every room. We also noticed the AC was quiet and working especially well compared with other years. The kitchen looked very attractive and had all of the conveniences we needed to cook our meals. Thank you for 2 wonderful weeks in paradise! We’ll be back next year and hope to stay in this unit again.

Awesome location

We loved everything about this condo. The location was great. A short walk to the beach and food. We even saw a turtle swim by from the 5th floor balcony. Since it's on the corner, we had great views on two sides.

Location and views!!!!

We came to celebrate my best friend’s 50th birthday and we wanted to be able to be on the ocean. This unit did NOT disappoint with the ocean views. The balcony is big enough to sit out and enjoy - table and 4 chairs and a lounge chair. It’s pretty windy most of the time and totally worth it! It faces west so perfect for sunsets. The sofa sleeper isn’t the best of mattresses which is one reason I gave it 4 Stars. Since it’s next to the patio, we were able to keep the doors open and listen to the waves each night to fall asleep to! I The kitchen has the basic needs. It does have a regular drip coffee maker so you’ll need coffee filters and coffee. There is a grocery store right up the street - could be walking distance if you don’t have super heavy things. We had to call maintenance a couple times and they were super responsive. The AC works but you don’t need it. Pro tip- you have to have the balcony doors closed to have the air turn on. (No one told us). Bring change if you want to do laundry. $1.75 wash $2 dry. Pool area is small but nice and feels private. Nice rec room with ping pong and games, corn hole and darts. I would recommend staying here! We’ll be back!

Absolutely perfect!

The best possible choice for a vacation for 2! We stayed a full week and it was so comfortable to come back to after a day of activities! Absolutely cannot beat that view, such beautiful light in the mornings and perfect sunsets on the porch! Wonderful to have our own kitchen, very well equipped, and great location! Will definitely come back ASAP!

Amazing home with a perfect View!

I've only been to Maui one other time and let me tell you, this most recent visit was AMAZING. This condo has the most beautiful view of the ocean! There are binoculars under the TV stand and I ended up using them every morning to watch for whales while drinking my morning coffee. Even though we were late to the whale season there were still plenty of sightings throughout the day. The condo has 2 beach chairs and an umbrella which were vital to our beach days. I have absolutely 0 complaints about this condo and would definitely recommend it to anyone I know. The Vacasa staff responded to an issue with the WiFi within 20 minutes of my call and were a dream to work with. They let me know that the internet provider was performing a reset of the system and the internet was back on a the time they said it would be. Great condo, great location and great locals. If you're thinking about staying at this condo you definitely should. Thank you Vacasa!

Wonderful spot!

The carpet and furniture (specifically the couch) are worn and soiled. I'd still give this 5 stars - the condo is fully stocked with what you need - including beach towels (2) and beach chairs (2). Bed was comfortable. View can't be beat! In March you can watch whales every day! Incredible!

The whales

We arrived at night and found it difficult to locate the property at "106" Apparently, the property around here is known only by its name i e., "Maui Kai." There is no number 106 on or near the building. Suggest you bring binoculars to see the whales from the lanai. Awesome. No whale sightseeing boat needed. One whale did 12 consecutive flukes. Many jumped. We did have stormy weather with winds 20-30 mph several nights and a couple of days. This unit is very wind noisy as is Kaanapoli vs. Lahaina. We lost power a couple of times for 1/2 hour and also lost wifi and tv at other times. The unit is as advertised and would stay here again if in Kaanapoli. The carpet needs deep cleaning and the bathroom sink is clogged and slow. There is lots of hot water for showers but there does seem to be some mold there. The lanai could use tall chairs and a tall table to see over the rail. Power strips in kitchen for devices are awesome. Couch has probably seen its better days. The view is 240 degrees, which js stunning. Short 500 ft beach access but tbere is a "secret" boardwalk beach park nearby. Read the signs as you turn into the driveway. We only had 4 bath towels for 2 people for 1 week. But there were beach towels to use.

The View!!!!!!!!!!!

We loved the view and had stayed in a 9th floor unit previously. This condo was well furnished but furniture and bedding was very outdated and worn. It didn't bother us that much but when comparing it to the other condo it was a little disappointing.

Great Vacation

Very nice accommodations, not having a full bath was an issue for the wife. PLEASE upgrade your internet and TV options, it’s not 2009 anymore:). Need more bandwidth, also, invest into a FireStick or something for Netflix/Hulu/Amazon TV etc. Most people stream their entertainment now. Also maybe put the existing TV in the bedroom and get a larger one for living room? Location is great, stores, food trucks, strip mall within walking distance. Love it. Beach situation is not great. Norther gate was closed, so your options are: walking around and accepting beach on the north side via main lobby of pink hotel, or taking a stroll through the boardwalk to the beaches on the south side. Boardwalk area needs more lighting. Also people need to smile more:). And maybe change up depressing hula music in the pool to something that doesn’t cause depression:)? But seriously, we had a great time and would consider coming back in a few years.

Million Dollar Views

Absolutely LOVED our stay! The highlights, of course, are the SPECTACULAR views! From our lanai, we saw a turtle swimming on both the first and last days of our stay along with two pods of dolphins (Spinners & Bottlenose) gamboling in the waves. Not to mention rainbows and unbelievable unobscured sunsets, all to the delicious sound of the surf. If the waves are too loud for you, no worries. Shut the sliding door and windows and the unit is silent as a tomb. Since there is only one neighbor, the likelihood that you’ll be disturbed is low. There was a toddler staying next to us and we did hear him cry occasionally but never enough to spoil our stay. The beach is just steps away – exit the parking lot about halfway up, through a pedestrian gate to a public beach that spans southward for miles. Or drive to the many beaches dotting the island. Maui beaches tend to be RIGHT on the water with rocky bottoms - walk to a spot in front of one of the resorts for the sandier stretches. But always exercise caution as the undertow can be intense. Back to the unit itself! The bed was a bit hard for my taste but never presented a problem physically. Kitchen was adequately stocked with pots, pans, plates, utensils, glasses, coffee mugs, etc. Plus a few extra spices left from other guests. Check in the cabinets before you go shopping. And you can go shopping at the grocery store just at the end of the drive or take a 10 minute drive to an exceedingly well stocked Safeway. The pool is small but clean and comfortable with grills and plates and utensils for guest use. We did have a few teeny tiny bugs but that’s to be expected when you are in a tropical environment. Again, nothing to spoil our stay. Laundry is one floor down and costs $3.50 total for a wash and dry. We were definitely not ready to leave and have already recommended the unit to our friends. If/when we go back to Maui, the likelihood is very high that we will be back to this wonderful unit!
