Beautiful & cozy home with private dock! Use of canoes, kayaks, & crap pot @ no extra expense. Beds were comfortable & the home had plenty of room for our family of 7. Definitely recommend!

Our family is the adults stayed at Sailors Rest Labor day week and enjoyed all that the property offered. The bikes, kayaks, fire pit, pool table and dock were well used by us. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed. The beds were comfortable as well as the main living area. The house was clean and decorated so cute! We would have liked to kayak more, but the wind on the bay didn't cooperate this week. I wouldn't recommend swimming off the dock but it wasn't deeper than 4 ft in the water. Overall a great relaxing, quiet week.

Everything is Better on the River

A fantastic property. It was great for two and the extra space would be great for a crew! Steps away from the water. If you bring a boat the marina is next door.Kayaks provided and we used them every day to paddle around the bay. A short walk to the neighborhood pavilion provides great views for sunrise or sunset.If you don't feel like cooking there are quite a few quaint restaurants just a short drive away.Highly Recommend

Excellent host, great property

This property is in a great location on the water, and it’s convenient to other areas on the northern neck. Mary was a great host- very responsive to the few questions we had along the way leading up to the trip, as well as while we were there.

Great rental for boaters with quick access to Bay

Newer property with good dock and access to Bay. 22 ft key west boat fit well with dock and super friendly area. Bring your paddle boards and boats and have fun. Cozy beds also...

The Rivah & Bay Life!

Sailor’s Rest is the perfect Rivah & Bay getaway. Capt Billy and Mary are delightful hosts. The house easily accommodated our two families with four teen girls. Be sure to book the sunset cruise with Capt Billy. We’ve stayed here twice and done his cruise three times. It’s a blast!

Wonderful Stay!

Everything was exactly how it was listed! We enjoyed all the amenities. Loved taking the canoe and kayaks on the water. We even discovered a beach we could paddle to. Loved our river cruise and the staff was super accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place! Thanks Mary!

Easter Feast

We had a great Easter Weekend at Sailors Rest. Stopped at Rappahannock Oyster Co on the way in and picked up some of the best Oysters on the East coasts. It was a pleasure to sit on the back porch overlooking the water and the dock and catch up with family.

Peaceful Waterfront Getaway

Excellent hospitality from Mary and Captain Billy! Very private and peaceful. Sitting on the back porch watching the water and hearing the breeze in the trees was very relaxing. Nice dock. Quality, clean and comfortable accommodations. Highly recommend fishing and touring the waterways with Captain Billy!

Great anniversary week

We had fun at the property and in the area. It was a perfect combination of relaxation and activities. Our dog was facinated by the crabs and loved walking the property. My husband caught a 14 inch striped bass off the dock. The house was clean, spacious, well decorated and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely peaceful getaway

We were very happy with our stay with Mary and Billy at there beautiful home. The house was just what we needed for our family getaway. We really enjoyed the use of their kayaks and canoe. Having our own little dock for some fishing and crabbing was great. The large game room with the pool table was awesome. We also booked a fishing trip with Billy on his charter boat. That will be a trip we will always remember. Thanks Billy and Mary for a great vacation spot! We all had a great time.

Too Nice for Our Business Trip

We stayed at this property in Heathsville to accommodate five guys traveling for business. The property was nice and very comfortable for everyone - we didn't feel like we were in each other's way at the end of the work day. The location and the sunrises were beautiful. It made us wish we were going out to play instead of working each morning! Mary and Billy were so accommodating and awesome to work with. We would come back for a pleasure trip in a heartbeat. It is a great place.

Perfect location for a family re-connect!

Loved our week spent at Sailor's Rest! It was an easy drive from Northern VA but completely different pace once we got there. The house was very clean, loved the rooms and the view out to the water. Kitchen was set up nicely for us to cook in, or to use the grill, which we did several nights. We kayaked and canoed every day, it was so quiet and peaceful out on the water. Plenty of cute towns to explore and find food including Kilmanrock, White Stone, Urbanna and Kinsale. Added bonus was a charter with Captain Billy and getting to know everyone at the marina, you are made to feel like an old friend. Look forward to another visit!

Peaceful Waterside Stay!

Captain Billy and his wife, Mary are the best host! Very attentive to your needs. And this bay side, peaceful house is perfect for a relaxing and fun vacation—equipped with kayaks and a canoe, games, pool table and a fun rec room, and crabbing right off the dock or fishing and the one hour boat ride included is really nice too! The large back porch is nicely laid out with comfortable chairs to enjoy the waterside view and grilling out and eating on the back shaded deck. We want to return to purchase a charter fishing trip to get some help from Captain Billy, and do some real fishing out in the bay or ocean wherever he goes :-). Hope to return soon one day!

Amazing home, amazing Chesapeake Bay views

wow--we loved every second of our stay at Sailors Rest. It is very private, spacious, immaculate, and beautifully furnished including very comfy beds and linens. The huge covered back porch was a wonderful spot to enjoy the views of the chesapeake bay and surrounding marshes. We even had a private dock to tie our boat steps off the porch. Kayaks are provided and it was fun to explore the close by Marina and chat with Captain Billy about the what fish are where and when. A hidden treasure is the acres of preserve on the property to observe wildlife of all kinds. Thank you Mary and Captain Billy for sharing your wonderful home with us. We will return

Wonderful Family Vacation Spot

We had a lovely stay at this property!!! It was our first time in the area, and Mary answered our questions prior to our stay and had several visitor guides placed in the home for us to use. The pier and game room were a hit for the kids and adults. The views of the water from the rooms and deck were absolutely serene. We also really enjoyed the layout of the home. The living room, dining area, and kitchen are centrally located and large spaces. We could hang together as a family and then relax in the bedrooms and not feel like we were stepping over each other. Several of us are into tech and the Internet access did not let us down. We caught several types of fish including flounder, crabs, and even a ray from the pier. Several family members took advantage of the kayaks to view the inlet. We would stay here again and recommend it to others too!

Summer Vacation

Mary and Capt Bill were awesome! Genuine, kind and responsive. The house earns its name of Sailors Rest. We couldnt have been more comfortable. I had four kids with my wife and I come down fom Massachusetts. The house is spacious and location is second to none if you enjoy peace and tranquility. The harbour cruise was amazing. Even had surprise Dolphin guests. Marys favorite beach location is a must visit. We have never been to such a secluded beach. My daughter informed me it was a tik tok top 10 beach. Who knew. Family and I will definitely make the trek again in the future. Capt Bill has many options from fishing to getting dropped off on your own secluded island. Cant wait to add more memories. TY Mary and Capt Bill.

Perfect!!

This place couldn’t be more perfect! My husband and I stayed for a week and a couple of friends joined us for the weekend. There are so many great things to share about this house. Captain Billy fit the 4 of us in for a river cruise on Saturday which was such an added bonus! We enjoyed crabbing and fishing. We caught a good amount of crabs! We kayaked almost every day and even ventured out into the bay with the kayaks. The weather was perfect in September to be out on the water. The creek was so calm and peaceful. We also enjoyed just sitting out on the comfortable back deck (which was so close to the water) and on the Adirondack chairs on the dock. So quiet and serene and private! There was a nice grill (almost new) to grill our meat. We loved taking bike rides with the nice bikes provided! There were nice paved country roads and neighborhoods to explore. The living area was so nicely furnished and spacious with a nice big screen TV. To top it all off the beds were so comfortable!!!! Mary and Captain Billy were wonderful hosts and were always available to help us or answer any questions. We enjoyed our stay so much! It was everything the listing says it is and more!! We can’t wait to come back again!

Away From It All

If you are looking to isolate yourself in a property by the water that is ideal for fishing, crabbing, and boating, this is your house. It was mostly clean, dog friendly, with a dock, and located right beside a marina. If you need internet or conveniences, this is not your place. Internet could not support phone calls without dropping them, and class work/zoom meetings were impossible. The nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away, and many area restaurants have limited hours this time of year. Just for the record, the fireplace is not real (it is a screen), and the "game room" is in an unfinished garage (no heat/AC) that is not completely sealed off from the outside (so bugs were able to come in under the overhead doors). We had a nice stay overall; however, because the listing was misleading ("internet", "fireplace", "every surface disinfected", etc.), the home was not perfectly suited to our needs and we spent far too much of our time driving around the area in search of internet access.
