We knew this day would come when a guest would be negligent and disrespectful to our beautiful property. In the 6years of VRBO, we've been very lucky with guests, return guests and five star reviews that speak for itself. This first time guest assured us that he & his group were low keyed; fishermen and musicians. When the group checked-out, our nice cabins were left unlocked and the doors wide open to all the elements and wildlife to enter. Carpets covered in pine needles, sink full of dishes, food smeared in refrig, greasy stove tops and the BBQ so flithy & greasy it caught on fire. Cabins smelled of pot, cigarette butts & joints left on the ground, on the BBQ and around the common area. Check-out list (part of rental agreement are on each refrig) consists of 13 items to complete & follow--only did 5! Booking guest left before his group and didn't double check or lock up. Fortunately, we live in a community that watches out for each other and a member of the fish hatchery happened to be walking by, noticed doors open, called us, witnessed all the mess and locked up the cabins, 48hrs after departure.
