Excellent home base while visiting colleges

My daughter and I had an excellent stay while touring college campuses. The owners were very accommodating, allowing us to drop off and retrieve our bags outside the normal check-in/check-out times. Location is great — just steps away from Metrorail and at least one major bus line. Will keep this property in mind if my daughter chooses to attend a DC school!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here! Pros: Very short walk to the metro, easy to find parking in the neighborhood, lots of good restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance, cute tree-lined street, the apartment itself was spotless when we arrived, the kitchen has everything you need to cook a quick meal with, and we felt safe the entire time! The owners were also very responsive and nice. Cons: We were expecting some noise/footsteps from the upstairs neighbors since this is a basement unit, but every night from 8 p.m. to midnight there would be very loud footsteps that sounded like they were in heeled shoes. They were super loud and hard to ignore. Also, we only had hot water to take a shower once during our four-night stay. There consistently wasn't hot water in the morning or at night. Overall, other than the footsteps and lack of hot water, we were happy with this place! We were really only there to shower and sleep, though, so it was a little frustrating to not be able to consistently do either of those things.

DC for the New Year

The property is clean and well renovated. The metro was close and the Harris Teeter was easy to locate and carry the groceries back. Jest remember you have to take or buy your own bags. The neighborhood is in the beginnings of getting updated and cleaned up. It looks to be a few blocks from a rough side of town, but we had no troubles. We would stay again. Thank you for opening the apartment to us!

Convenient and immaculately clean

Two blocks from the Metro meant super-easy transportation. The street was quiet and tree-lined. We laughed endlessly about the toddler upstairs who was clearly training for the Olympic marathon. Those little feet racing about were truly entertaining. The only negative was the bed. The mattress was so overly soft that someone like myself with a tendency toward back problems can’t sleep on it. I resorted to the single bed in the office area.

Just as described

My wife and I spent a week at this residence and were very happy with everything. Clean, full size kitchen with plenty of room. Roger and Amanda were very accommodating . We did not rent a car so it was nice to be close to the metro. I would highly recommend this property.

Great place to stay in DC

Really enjoyed my stay at Roger and Amanda’s. I was solo while my son was at a leadership camp so I had more than enough room but 3-4 people would be easy. Their place was very comfortable and convenient to the places I needed. I walked, biked and used Uber most of my stay. It was along walk but I walked to and from the Capital building a couple of times. Closest place for nice food is 8th street..about a 15-20 minute walk or cheap Uber but McDonalds is right around the corner. Overall...I would stay hear again!!!

Better than a hotel

Great property! Only issue, which was minor, was parking. I’m sure this is a challenge anywhere in DC so otherwise property was just as described on line if not better. Close to a market easy to get to other sites from property either by driving or walking to metro. Great stay!

Lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at this apartment in late April/early May 2019. Roger and Amanda are great hosts. Roger answered our emails quickly when we contacted him with questions for directions, etc. The apartment was clean, comfortable and private, had everything we needed for our stay. A short 5 minute walk gets you to the Metro station and Harris Teeter grocery store-very convenient. We felt safe walking in the neighborhood. We would definitely recommend this location.

Good Washington rental

We had a very good 5 night rental experience. Good location, less than 5 minutes from the Metro station. The apartment was recently renovated, clean, and well appointed. The owner lives upstairs and was responsive. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Great location!

Easy walk to the Potomac Metro station and local Harris Teeter grocery store. A transforming neighborhood on the upswing. Great bathroom and shower! It is a basement apartment with lower level street access. There is a toddler that lives above, who thankfully, goes to bed early and is also up early. This did not bother us too much as we were up and out early to see the sights. Big closet and handy washer/dryer. The living area is not quite as big as it seems in the photos, but clean and updated. I would definitely stay here again!

great location right off Pennsylvania Avenue

PROS: We parked the car and never moved it. Easy access to 295. The metro is a few minutes walk away and Harris Teeter right on the corner. We chose to eat in most of our meals and the kitchen was well equipped. Washer/dryer a plus. Nice young couple lives upstairs but honored our privacy. The English basement looks newly renovated and great for a couple who may be out exploring most of the time. CONS: Owner presented a lease agreement at the last minute with photo ID. Plus damage insurance is required unless you opt to put a hefty refundable deposit down. Seems a few patrons have reserved on credit cards that didn't belong to them, etc. There is a three year old upstairs who is quit active in early morning and after dinner. The back patio sitting area was not accessible due to toddlers toys. Not a big deal to us, but just be aware if it would be to you. Overall, I would stay here again.

BEST LOCATION

This was our first time doing VRBO and we didn't really know what to expect. We are totally sold!! Roger and his wife were very welcoming and quick to answer any questions. We loved the fact that the apartment is in a residential neighborhood, and a quick walk to the grocery store and the Metro Station. There are wonderful restaurants nearby . We also love the fact that there is a full kitchen and a washer and dryer.

Great location and best owners

Great location if you don't want to drive or constantly uber. Short walking distance to metro subway. Grocery is also short walk so you can cook your own meals or just have snacks. Apartment well appointed and very nice. Owners were very helpful and helpful in all areas.
