Ven a disfrutar de nuestra segunda casa, Nantahala Haven, en el hermoso lago Nantahala. El lago Nantahala es el segundo lago más alto al este del río Mississippi y se encuentra dentro del bosque nacional de Nantahala a 3.000 pies de elevación. Sus aguas son cristalinas con múltiples cascadas que se vierten en el lago a lo largo de sus más de 33 millas de costa. Está rodeado por las montañas Smokey y tiene vistas panorámicas a las montañas. La gran mayoría de la costa está protegida por el bosque nacional de Nantahala y solo hay aproximadamente 100 casas frente al lago en el lago Nantahala.

El lago Nantahala está a aproximadamente 2 horas en automóvil de Atlanta, GA o Asheville, Carolina del Norte.

El lago Nantahala es uno de los mejores lagos de pesca del sur con Wallaye, lubina, salmón Kokanee, trucha y otros tipos de peces.

Debido a su ubicación remota, nunca está abarrotada. No hay restricciones de potencia para la navegación y dos puertos deportivos locales tienen todo tipo de embarcaciones en alquiler. Una rampa pública para botes está a menos de 1 milla de la casa.

Beautiful location on a serene lake. Most importantly, we found David (the owner) to be terrific - he called me 2 days prior to our visit to give me key details that were very helpful. David let us borrow the kayaks at the house and we loved going out on the lake as a family. There is a journal where previous guests shared their experiences and this helped us pick a wonderful hiking trail to Wasser Bald watchtower. We also did the Highway 64 drive from Franklin to Highlands on our way back, which was just delightful - also an idea we got from the journal which was corroborated by fellow hikers to Wasser Bald.

Great Family Lake House Getaway!

The property was very well maintained and the house was stocked with all the comforts of home. Our family had an amazing time swimming/boating on the lake, grilling out, kayaking, and enjoying the beautiful views from the house. The owners were extremely responsive and easy to talk to- we very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!

Family trip

We have visited Nantahala with a family group for over 40 years. This cabin was very nice and the hosts were very accommodating. It is not for anyone who has trouble with stairs, but we were informed about that and the steep driveway. Everything we need was supplied and the lake is gorgeous. Just bring food.

great place at Nantahala

This is our second time at this property and it did not disappoint. House was clean with extra amenities (like towels) that we did not use, but appreciated none the less. Property is well kept and maintained. My husband loves the kitchen! Plenty of room to cook and move around. Access to the lake is one of the best we've ever had. We will be back.

Great place on the lake

One of the best places to rent on the lake- nearly right in the center, facing westerly. Great views from the back balcony/porch during sunset. The place was great, well furnished, clean, plenty of space. Owners were great with communication. Few things to be aware of: very steep graded driveway, lots of steps getting from driveway to house, and finally lots of steps getting from house to lake. - if you have physical limits. Dock was great for keeping a boat.

Stairs - Beware!

The view of the lake from the cabin is absolutely, one-hundred percent beautiful! We really enjoyed using the kayaks every day. It is so peaceful and calm there. That being said, there were a few negatives. Except for the one bed, all the rest of the beds were exceptionally hard, which made every night an uncomfortable night's sleep for most of us. Another important item to note is that there are 40 steep stairs to access the house from the driveway, and the driveway is also very steep. It is not wheelchair accessible and is very difficult for anyone not in good physical shape to manage. Finally, the WiFi is satellite and extremely slow.

Just to clarify for future guests, all houses on this lake have stair access to get to either the house, the lake or both. We bought this house for how close it is to the water and the beautiful lake views from the house. The driveway incline is typical for mountain driveways and combined with the stairs, are what allow it to have such easy lake access and beautiful views. New satellite internet is now faster and sufficient for surfing the web and virtual meetings.

Wonderful time at Lake Nantahala over 4th of July

This is our 3rd year being at Lake Nantahala for the week of 4th of July, but our first time staying at Dave and Casey's place. Communication was great, Dave gave me a call the week before our arrival and went over the house, the access, the nuisances of the house and what to expect. The house was exactly what we expected per the description and pictures. We also received a welcome pack from Casey through VRBO with very detailed instructions, check out list and things to do in the area. The location on the lake is great, the house has a great view and it is 10 minutes closer to Andrews for groceries than the previous house we stayed in on Indian Lake Rd. Compared with other houses in this neighborhood, the view was totally clear of the lake (no trees blocking view) and the house sits down closer to the lake so there are fewer stairs in comparison to other houses in Nantahala Shores to get down to the water. Of note, there are a lot of stairs to carry luggage and groceries down to from the parking area to the front door. We are a family of 4 and there was plenty of room. We brought our boat and the dock was perfect for parking it. We spent a lot of time out on the water, the lake is our favorite place to vacation! The kids really enjoy rope swing island, the marina, fishing and cruising around on the boat on a tube or knee board. You can rent boats from Lakes's End Marina but book way in advance! Overall, we had a great vacation and the house had everything we needed! Thanks Dave and Casey!

Lovely Lake vacation for all ages!

This is our second time back to this fantastic house. We came with two small children and, while we had to be careful with the steep stairs down to the dock, I so appreciated all of the details that made it a great respite for our family. There were life jackets for all sizes, puzzles and games, comfortable beds, black-out shades, and even picture books in the kids' room. We had fun swimming and kayaking from the house, and also taking excursions to hikes and waterfalls. Thanks for a great stay!

Family Vacation

We had a wonderful week at the house! David and Casey checked in before our trip and made sure we arrived safely. Nantahala Lake is stunning and the kids had a great time exploring the property. We did a few hikes around the area and spent quite a bit of time kayaking and fishing out on the lake. The house was very clean and we didn't have too many issues with the WiFi. Would definitely recommend this property for a family vacation!

Clean beautiful view

We enjoyed our stay but beware of zero cellular service. Have your ducks in a row prior to check-in. Save gate code and house codes in your phone or write them down somewhere. Bring your own DVDs as cable is limited. Great place to fish, hike and take in the beauty of the NC mountains. Loved the opportunity to unplug in this quiet, beautiful slice of God’s country.

Magical lake vacation

We had an absolutely splendid stay at this property. The owners gave us some great advice on local hikes and restaurants. The family loved the kayaks, and swimming off the dock was sublime. The house was extremely comfortable and was everything we needed. We are big cooks, and weren't lacking for anything in the kitchen. We are already talking about booking for next year!

A great getaway

We've stayed at many places on or near Nantahala Lake over the years and this property is our favorite. The home was clean, comfortable, well equipped and right on the lake. Our group of four adults and an active toddler had a wonderful time.

Relaxing Family Get-a-way!

The house was clean and spacious enough for 8. We were fortunate enough to bring our pontoon boat and leave docked at the house for whenever we wanted to go for an adventure ride on the lake. View of the lake from the house is wonderful to wake up to. View of surrounding mountains from the lake is spectacular. Driveway is steep so back down the driveway is my only advice.

We are a family of 4 who love the great outdoors! Nantahala Haven is a dream come true for our family. We purchased as our second home in 2018 and have loved spending time on Lake Nantahala and the surrounding areas! We love to hike, mountain bike and fish. But the main reason we purchased this home is to spend time on one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever seen!

Lake Nantahala is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the country! Our home is one of the few homes in the gated community of Nantahala Shores that has year round big water views. Most other homes are built away from the water which allows trees to obstruct views during the late Spring through early Fall. Our home has big water views from the living room with easy/flat access from the home to a private dock. 180 degree mountain views abound from the dock and the best sunsets on the lake can be viewed with only a 1 minute kayak paddle from the dock. And the sunsets from the dock are very nice themselves!!!
Kayaks and life vests are provided with the rental.

Our home also has one of the easiest ways to access the lake from the home given how close the house is to the water.
