Great house for a weekend at Tahoe-Donner

Great house. Very well appointed. Lots of space for hanging out. Loved the pool table. Great kitchen. Highly recommended for skiing at Tahoe-Donner. Our two criticisms were that the furnaces were really loud in the downstairs at night, and they run frequently because the house tends to cool off quickly and that the downstairs bed mattresses need an upgrade. But overall, a very pleasant stay and a highly recommended spot for a weekend at Tahoe Donner.

Excellent house but

Unhappy about the xtra charge for ammenities

Loved everything about the cabin and the fact that everything worked. It was beautiful. Great kitchen! Loved the 2 balconies. No leaky showers, no broken toilets and very clean. Balcony could have been sprayed off better. Lots of pollen and it had been sprayed but still pollen. I called to make reservations after finding out that there was an added 300+ for pool clubhouse but they had no reservations until Tuesday and we were leaving on monday because members have first access and guest second. So I felt ripped off because I had no choice from the get go. . I was charged for access that we were unable to take advantage of. The cabin costs enough without paying for a non existance extra!!! I have been born and raised in California so I know the climate in the Truckee/Tahoe area and it can get really hot. felt it should be listed that there is "no air conditioning". People just expect air so dont necessarily go looking for it on the list. Luckily the weather was nice and didnt reach in the high 80's+ but it can. It was boiling hot the first night that we got there because the house was closed up with no air. Thanks

Tahoe getaway

Spacious and comfortable house! Playing pool at the entertainment was lots of fun for our family. Beds were comfortable! However, the oven and the dryer didn't work properly, oven turns off by itself during use and the dryer didn't dry up our laundry, but the air was hot inside the dryer. Wondering how the linens get dry up by the house cleaner. Also, the range hood suction was not strong enough to suck up the smoke from cooking steaks so the fire alarm was on for a bit, but shortly it was off after we open the windows. Wondering why the fire alarm is installed in the kitchen. If these issues are fixed, I would rent this house again in the future.

We were put to work on our vacation (but home is lovely)

Upon finding that the towels in each bathroom were folded and stacked in cabinets while still soaking wet, we spent a full evening and day washing and drying linens. It took so long because: (1) the bottles of detergent were empty (so we had to run to the store); (2) the washer failed to fully spin out water (so we needed run multiple cycles to spin out water, clean linens and rinse out detergent, wringing by hand each time); and (3) the dryer took 3 cycles on max heat to dry the towels (which is probably why they were still wet and folded in closets when we arrived). While some one did stop by to provide more dishwasher pods (there were only 3 for a 5 night stay), the person didn’t address the laundry concerns. Later during our trip, we were called and asked to wait for a repair person to come for the washer/dryer between 8-9am (peak ski arrival time) on our last day of our trip. We kept some one home on the last day of our trip to wait for the repair person, who could not resolve the issues. We were quite surprised to have 2 full days of “vacation“ wasted in cleaning and maintenance. The house is otherwise spacious and well designed.

Huge & Comfortable Tahoe Donner home

This house was much bigger than expected and very comfortable for 7-8 adults. The kitchen is well equipped and ready for cooking pretty much anything. The living room is comfortable with an awesome surround sound Bose system and smart TV. The fireplace was great and very quick to warm the home - although not needed with the weather we had. And the game room downstairs is a perfect place for the adults to hang out late night or the kids to play while the adults hang upstairs. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

Great Getaway

A Great Stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This large beautiful home is as advertised, a great Gathering Place. Our party of 10 had so much room to spread out and each find our part of the main floor of the house to catch up, play games, do some work, all while being in the same room. I've stayed at many rental properties, and this house was one of the cleanest I stayed at. The rental property management, Tahoe Getaways, was very efficient, business like, and has an option to use a phone app to check in, see all important info about the property, and check out, very convenient. The large deck on the main floor was huge and very relaxing to sit outside and admire the trees and see the stars at night. There is also a patio on the ground floor that was peaceful and scenic as well. The house was only about 35-40 minutes to Reno to enjoy the casinoes and great buffets as well. Kitchen was well stocked with new and modern appliances. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Almost all of the towels were not dry when we arrived so we had to put them all back through the dryer. There were only three washrags in the house. There were no written instructions of how to use the four remotes to operate the TV and the DVD player. In spite of these items we enjoyed the house.

Gorgeous mountain family getaway

Location is perfect for Tahoe Donner or Sugarbowl ski trips. Everything was provided and we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The jacuzzi tub in the master is a nice treat, as is the pool table. Tahoe Getaways was very professional and easy to deal with. We will definitely return!
