5/5 Stars – Forest-Backed Cabin with a Local Legend Sighting

We stayed at Away on Allenby in early June and couldn't have asked for a better Tahoe getaway. The cabin is beautifully updated and backs right up to the national forest, making it feel private, peaceful, and perfect for morning hikes straight from the backyard. It was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights? We got to see the local legend “Cinnamon” a friendly neighborhood bear who made a memorable appearance during our visit. Between the wildlife sightings, trail access, and comfortable accommodations, this place delivered the full Tahoe experience. Highly recommend!

Pleasant surprise that this property backs the forest. Had the whole backyard for our self’s for snow play. Very well stocked and cozy. Would return here again.

Tahoe Vacation

This is a great place to stay for a Winter trip. The home had everything we needed and plenty of close parking. Our dogs were welcome and we all enjoyed the accommodations.

Away on Allenby

This was our first summer visit to North Tahoe and we were thrilled with our cabin - Away on Allenby. Check in and check out were very easy with no hiccups. Our cabin was the perfect size for a family of four and the location was very convenient and private. The only thing that was missing was a hot tub (but we knew going in that it did not have one). We enjoyed orienting ourselves on the trails just outside the cabin. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and well stocked. I really appreciated the inventory of kitchen supplies, including basic spices, olive oil and coffee filters! I would highly recommend Away on Allenby.

Enjoyed our stay!

Enjoyed the property it was as advertised. Wish the family room was a little larger & furniture a bit more comfortable. Also, may want to check the plumbing in downstairs shower - it sometimes didn’t turn off completely.

Great House, close to the lake and Northstar resort

We had a really nice stay at this property. The house is modern and clean, very-well equipped (especially if you like to cook) and the room are comfortable and cozy. We were only 10 mins drive away from Northstar which was super convenient and a few minutes drive from the lake, shops, restaurants. Would happily come back!

The perfect summer retreat

We finished a 10 day road trip from northern Washington here and this was absolutely the best ending to a great trip. We had more than enough space for our two families and the children each had areas to spread out. After several days of hiking, we were able to relax with coffee and meals on the beautiful back deck, and loved our days at the beach. We enjoyed easy hikes just out the back door, and mini golf nearby. I am already looking forward to returning in the (hopefully) very near future!

Great little Cabin for Single Family

Pros: Cozy, cute, clean, excellent access to out the door hiking / snowshoeing / cross-country skiing. Gave us a much appreciated 3 pm checkout option. Loved that, thanks! Cons: Fairly small common area for relaxing. Very cozy, but only nicely comfortable for 2 or 3 at a time. Small, but nice kitchen. Might do with a bit more organizing, though hard to provide all they do with the limited storage. One drawer was so full of kitchen tools, some with edges, that my daughter would only reach in with tongs to find and get things out. Ha! :-) Overall, though, we loved this place for 3 or 4 because it was so cute and had such great access to snowshoeing. Technically, there really are 4 two person bedrooms, but overall would be a little tight even with 5 people.

We really enjoyed our stay at Allenby. The home was clean, cozy, and we had everything we needed for cooking in each day. The only thing we would suggest is a little better lighting in the upstairs bedroom (to the left of the stairway). Thank you for making our stay wonderful.

This cabin was amazing! From the views of the forest to the amenities needed for any home, it’s all there. It was so comfortable for my family of 5, the first 3 days we decided to not explore Lake Tahoe. The wildlife viewing from the deck is enough to relax and enjoy VACATION. There is a trail for hikers and mountain bikers just a few steps below the deck which has a Lake Tahoe view point. Inside the cabin, everything needed for cooking, entertainment and sleeping is all there. When we did get out to do some fishing, the Truckee River is not far. It’s in a great location from being far enough from the noise and traffic in Kings Beach but close enough to do the grocery shopping if needed. My family and I are already talking about coming back.

Tahoe Vista Treeline

The home overall was excellent and in great condition. All the areas of the property were very comfortable for my family and there was plenty of room indoors and out. The location is great being up the hill enough to be away from town traffic yet close enough to ride a bike down the hill and be there in 10 minutes. Also the trails into the North Tahoe park are just outside your back door, which made getting outdoors even easier. We would rent Allenby again and think it is a great place.

Nice cozy place

We were group of 6 people, had a great time and the place was fit perfect for us. The place is on a smaller side but it is very well renovated. Furniture, kitchen appliances, bedding, all is done with good taste. It’s a great cozy place in a quite neighborhood. I would come back for sure. Thanks !

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have SO much to say about this vacation rental..... It was the BEST STAY and EXPERIENCE i have had with any vacation rental. I will always come back when wanting to rent a cabin and i have already showed all my friends and family so they too can rental in the future. The booking process was very quick and simple. I was notified every step of the way leading up to our trip, AND even received a call the day of arrival just letting us know that they were all ready for us and we could call if any problems. Arriving at the cabin me and my family were VERY PLEASED, the cabin was SO BEAUTIFUL and GREAT location with everything we could need for our stay. The beds were comfortable, bedding was nice and rooms were very pretty. The pictures don't do this place any justice. Loved that they had a big table on the back deck, we ate every dinner outside the kids loved that, and some breakfasts too. I'm very happy we found this gem and hope future renters take care of this place so we can all keep coming back. Thank You Away on Allenby for the WONDERFUL stay, we will be back soon!
