This is the 3rd time staying at Potomac River Getaway at McKays Beach, which should say it all. Very clean, homey, comfortable, unbelievable location and views. Lauri and Scott are so very friendly, as well. We'll be back again!

Above and beyond expectations! We have stayed in many VRBO's and this is only the second time that the property was much better than we expected. The pictures do not do the cottage justice. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. Many thoughtful extras were provided. The water is just a few feet from the back door and the sunset pictured on site is what we arrived to that evening. Only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer.

The house/host exceeded our expectations! Lori and Scott are fantastic hosts and live right next door. The sunset views are amazing and the house is well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay there again. There are fantastic, affordable dining options.

No all thing that we need to cook, but most of it. The place was clean. The water wasn’t good, too salty, the bathroom too small. The mattress wasn’t comfortable. Water on the kitchen stink.

Peaceful getaway

The cool ac and the clean home was a great introduction to our stay! The house was very nice and clean also well stocked. Lauri and Scott were both great hosts. We loved relaxing fishing kayaking and more on the Potomac river.

Wonderful, restful and beautiful stay.

This is the 4th time we come and we love it just as much as the first time. A great escape from Washington DC for a few days with such an amazing and peaceful view on the Chesapeake Bay.

Outstanding in Every Way

You couldn't ask for better hosts, who genuinely want to ensure you enjoy your time. Beautiful, well-appointed cottage right on the Potomac with a wonderful view in a friendly neighborhood. Close enough to everything you need but far enough away from it all at the same time.

Thank you Lauri and Scott for welcoming us to your beautiful cottage and beach! This was a great fit for our family of four with two school age boys. I liked the open space in the home so I could see our boys play while I was prepping food in the kitchen. I appreciated that the kitchen had all I needed to make simple meals. I loved that the beach was right out down below the lawn so our boys could have fun skipping rocks, finding shells and sea glass and come right back inside to cool off. We had so much fun kayaking to the longer beach and back and on our last full day we got to see a thunderstorm roll in. It was a beautiful place to spend a few days to rest and play. Lauri annd Scott, you are wonderful hosts!! We hope to come back!

Lovely stay in St Mary’s Co

A perfectly quaint place right on the water. My only complaint is there was no tub for the kids to bath in and the shower backed up a little, other than that it was great. Would definitely stay there again!

We recently purchased the cottage next door from family friends. We set about a year converting it to open, airy cottage. We have lived in this neighborhood for over 30 years and are happy to share this amazing and magical place with you. Scott is a retired Navy Test Pilot and currently working in the Electric Vehicle Industry and Lauri is a Yoga Therapist and Artist. Many of her paintings hang in the cottage. We are happy to help you make your stay as memorable as possible. Enjoy!

Valley Lee Maryland has been home to us since 1984. The home next to the cottage was our first home we ever purchased. This is one of the most beautiful spots on earth. We have travel extensively but for pure peace and beauty this is it for us.

You can see some body of water from every room in the house. The living room faces west and the sunsets paint the house with every color you can imagine. You can swim, float, borrow our kayaks, fish, crab and just sit and gaze at the beauty around you. Enjoy a picnic or a cookout and dine as the sunset over the Potomac.
