Quaint fishing retreat on the lower Potomac Piney Pt

Welcome to Wollongong, our Potomac Oasis!

We are a NEWLY RENOVATED fishing retreat directly on the shores of Historic St. George’s Island, MD, on the Lower Potomac. Catch absolutely brilliant 180º sunsets from our patio or private dock, and cozy up by our firepit!

Though our cottage is small, it sure is cozy and totally functional for short or long-term rentals. We have a full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms, linens + towels, cooking essentials (salt & pep, oil, pots/pans, coffee, spices), crab pots, A/C to accommodate a quaint and peaceful getaway. Large dock to fish for Rockfish & crabbing. Half mile to boat ramp access to St Marys & Potomac Rivers, with the Chesapeake & Pt Lookout 8-10 miles south.

Everything you need

Family had a great time. Yes the place is small but we spent most of our time outside and in the water and it had everything we needed for that so it was a great trip.

Peace and quiet.

Had another nice getaway. Caught more fish than last time. Best sunsets around. Had a fire going in the evenings and hung out on the pier. Was a real nice way to end vacation season.

Great vacation location

We really enjoyed our stay in the fishing shack. It was clean and comfortable and equipped with everything needed for a week at the shore. We plan to return next year. Thanks for letting us stay.

Great Location

great location - wonderful walks to St George island and nearby restaurant. It would have been so awesome if there were two kayaks available! It is a perfect spot to be alone and observe nature. Grateful for great hospitality.

Great stay!

We like the house and neighborhood. House owner was very responsive. Very quiet and convenient community. We even got a chance to play some tennis at the Memorial Park nearby.

Amazing place to stay!!!

Extremely clean cottage right on the water with absolutely breathtaking views. The owner responds very fast to any questions and was great to work with. The house is very well equipped with pretty much anything you need. The private dock with lights for night was really nice too. We would definitely stay here again! Also nice that it's pet friendly so you can bring your dogs.

Great place for sunsets over the water

Just finished a week at this property and had a fantastic time. The house is small, but perfectly adequate for two or three people. The kitchen is surprisingly well equipped and the patio and fire pit right on the water were worth the price of admission by themselves. I also really appreciate the flexibility for pets.

Crabbing Getaway 2022

Had a great time. Caught around 30 blue crabs... Great place to stay. Clean, neat, access to everything. Had an awesome time. Planning on returning next year....thanks to our host Cameron Dunlop for such a wonderful place.😊

Beautiful view and cozy cabin

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice that the kitchen has updated appliances and was fully stocked. The rest of the cabin was also very clean and comfortable. We started our days sitting on the dock drinking our coffee and ending our days sitting on the dock watching the sunsets. We can’t wait to come back. Joanne

A fishing get away

It’s a fishing shack , and it was great just to relax. My husband and son loved just going out tge door to fish and crab. House is doable for a small family . I was a little disappointed with having the jellies in the water. ( no swimming )

Loved the fish shack

We came to the area on a work trip to help our son get his boat ready for launch. The fish shack offered us a comfy place to relax and rest. It's in a great neighborhood. It's right on the water. The kitchen is well eqipped (we cooked 6 out of 7 nights). Everything works well. This place is not fancy but it's functional and comfy. You can't go wrong here. Jean
