Great stay at Mahana!

We loved our stay at the Mahana, and got lucky with incredible views of whales and turtles from the 11th floor. Would stay again at the Mahana. The only variable is room assignment at check in means we don’t know which one we would get.

Nice Relaxing Time

After a slight situation not getting a check in email from the VRBO host and lack of check in communication from VEBO host and the front desk not sure they had my reservation as I was listed as Kevin and not Ken everything went well after that. The Aston staff does a very quality service to make sure your stay is very enjoyable.

Absolutely Perfect

One of the best views Maui/ kaanapali. We had end unit, 11th floor - breathtaking panaramic view. If you have floors 4-8 palm trees may obstruct the view. We had the pleasure of whale watching from our balcony. There was no beach chairs or binoculars which would have been nice to have♥️ Overall a wonderful experience.

Perfect Location

This is our third time staying at Kaanapali Shores and the location can’t be beat. The large floor to ceiling windows provided the perfect view for watching countless whales, and sea turtles. We even had a monk seal (very rare and on the endangered species list) come up for a few hours to sunbathe. The place was clean and property immaculate. My only suggestions is to better stock the condo with supplies (cups, pans utensils) and provide some basic (salt and pepper, oil etc) there were none. Also, the pillows are as flat as pancakes-we requested more but it didn’t help. Overall, we loved our stay!

Our Room Needed Updating/Cleaning

I've stayed at the Mahana 8 years straight. 8th floor and above will not disappoint if you enjoy whale watching. This trip our room needed some cleaning and upgrading. The tile floor grout, especially in the bathroom looked nasty/dirty. The couch was uncomfortable and also looked worn/dirty. The only chair by the front window was broken (ejected you) and split at the seam. The bed was high, hard and squeeky. The bed covering was torn and snagged. If you're a short senior like me it's a climb just getting in/out! The washing machine was reported and sounded like a motorcycle rally when on the spin cycle.! (NOT an exaggeration.) Only one small bowl in the kitchen had a lid making cooking/serving difficult. Not a single spice to be found. The ice lever on the freezer sticks and ejects ice if you don't manually pull it back out. These issues were disappointing and never an issue in my previous stays at the Mahana. That said....the view never disappoints and we enjoyed watching whales during our 7 night stay. It was nice surprise that daily housekeeping service is included and they did a great job as did the front desk. I will definitely stay at the Mahana again but prefer to choose the actual room than be assigned from a pool of rooms. Potential for improvement with the unit where we stayed.

Buyers beware. Pictures are not what you get in the end.

The pics on Vrbo were not represented accurately. We stayed here during our honey moon and I was excited to bring my son for the view. The photo showed the 7th floor but we got the ground floor when o asked the front desk she said talk to the owner and she was rude. I asked the owner to call and he never did he said talk to the front desk. The unit was not clean and there was a lot of bugs. Can’t recommend.

We love staying at The Mahana! From the spectacular sunsets to the turtles swimming in the surf, what could be better! Can’t wait for construction to be over however. Since we were out of our room most of the day, it really isn’t bad. Very considerate construction workers too.

Beautiful location

So much snorkeling opportunities here. Close to the grocery store, restaurants, and local food trucks. Only 15 minutes from the marina, the famous banyan tree, and shopping on Front Street. This is our 3rd stay at this condo community. Every unit has a breathtaking ocean view.

Loud Construction the entire time

The property was pretty but every day we had construction going starting at 730am. Loud construction that sounded like a jackhammer by the bedroom wall. I could never get out of anyone what they were doing but it sounded like it was coming through our walls. I tried to move or discuss with manager without much resolution except another bedroom in the same building. Nowhere in the online listing did it mention construction. That is the one thing I can’t do on vacation! I never felt like my requests were resolved with management. The beach right in front is not swimmable either as it has a lot of rocks and reefs very close in.

Amazing!

We had a great stay. However, there are few things that others should consider. Pros - Our unit (506) was immaculate. The BEST views we have ever had (and that's saying a lot). Right on top of the water with the sounds of waves crashing was priceless. - Beach is right around the corner with easy access and a 1-2 minute walk. Additional beaches very close by (5-30 minutes walking) including some great ones for snorkeling (e.g. airport beach). We were even able to walk to black rock beach for snorkeling (about a 30 minute walk) on the beach. - Supermarket and other stores within walking distance (no need to stop at Costco when you get in :-) - GREAT food trucks within walking distance - Concierge Susan, was great as well as others at front desk were welcoming and helpful. Cons - The pool is ok. But it wasn't important to us as the proximity to the beach, the unit itself and the views were more important to us than the pool. - We missed having a smart TV (and perhaps a newer/bigger TV). This should be an easy and inexpensive fix as it would have been nicer to have this feature at night (especially given how great the rest of the unit was). - There was some construction going on. While the posted hours were 8-5pm, on multiple days, they started earlier (more like 7:15/7:30 or so), with drilling right outside our door. I would recommend the management company address is with the construction team. Overall, LOVED IT and pretty much sure that we will try to book at the same property for our next trip (as long as we can get 5th floor or higher).

Absolutely stunning views and a great place to stay on Maui

I can't rave enough about this place. It is an ocean front condo with a stunning view of the both the islands of Molokai and Lanai as well as the ocean. There is a private Lanai of the bedroom and the living room that is a great place to hang out. Simply put, if you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.
