Great Location and Beautifully furnished house with it's original character. This is a Historic property and has outdated plumbing (poor water pressure throught home), difficult parking, and a distinct odor throughout the home (assuming due to the age). The attic bedroom is pretty but had 2 large roaches and no one in our party was willing to stay in that area of the home.

Thank you for appreciating our historic charm and great location. We take guest feedback seriously and appreciate you bringing these items to our attention. Pest Control: Being in a heavily treed Texas area, we maintain proactive quarterly pest control. Finding a deceased insect means our routine treatments are working exactly as intended to keep the home protected. Parking: We offer four dedicated parking spots in our rear parking area, which provide ample space for our guests. Historic Charm: While a 100-year-old home naturally carries a unique character, we continuously maintain and refresh the property to ensure a comfortable stay. Thank you again for your stay and for helping us keep our historic home at its best!

Acerca de su propietario/a

Propietario/a: Christopher Averite

Imagen de perfil del propietario o de la propietaria
I'm Christopher Averite, the owner of The Roux House since 2006. I lived here for more than 13 years before converting it into a vacation rental to honor my late dachshunds, Beaux and Roux. I couldn't think of a better tribute to my beloved fur-babies, so I named it "The Roux House." As a proud New Orleanian, I enjoyed decorating the home with local New Orleans flair. I've cherished owning this home for over 20 years, and I hope you will love and enjoy it as much as I do!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This home is conveniently situated near Downtown Dallas and the popular Bishop Arts District. It’s within walking distance of numerous shops, bars, and restaurants. The Dallas streetcar runs right in front of the house, providing easy access to Downtown or Bishop Arts, with the nearest stop just two houses away. I highly recommend exploring Bishop Arts for its food and entertainment options—you won’t be disappointed.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The woman who built this house in the early 1920s was Jack Ruby’s girlfriend. We spoke with her nephew, whom she raised in the home. He showed me a photo of himself as a child with Jack Ruby in front of their grand piano in my living room. A true piece of history! If you stand in the front yard and look diagonally across the street, you'll see a red-roofed house that was Lee Harvey Oswald’s residence during the Kennedy assassination. This house exudes charm and character, and you'll feel it the moment you step inside.
