Overall, the place was good for what we intended. It was a place to sleep while we spent most of our days out hiking. Complaints would be that the hot tub kept erroring out and never got truly “hot,” while only a few of the jets worked. We gave it plenty of time to heat up and waited, but it was still an issue. The bedrooms had some questionable stains on the walls and could use some washing. One of the bedrooms’ nightstands smelled like urine. The beds were alright; however, they are super squeaky. The walls are a bit thin so you feel like other people staying with you are in the same room. The living area was super cute and nice - we loved the fireplace. The kitchen was decent and usable for what we needed; however, the cleaner did not check the coffee maker and I found moldy coffee grounds/filter inside. Not a huge deal, just a little yucky to find and have to clean up. We did appreciate the allowance of dogs for the slight fee!

The Hot Tub was not hot as it had kicked off with an error message "Pump Failure" and was only 69 degrees when we got there. We tripped the breaker and reset it but it took until the next night to get to 102 degrees. Again the Pump Failure error came on and it kicked off and was down to 97 thennext morning. We called and a guy came but said we fixed it when we reset it but clearly there is an issue with it and he said he moved the filter to allow more water through but shortly after he left it again went into error mode. So we left a day early because it was raining and cold and we couldn't even use the hot tub. I would like refunded for at least one night because your facilities were not as advertised and we couldn't enjoy our stay.

The Blue Jay is not at all what we expected. The drive way was very difficult to navigate when you have a trailer with a UTV on it. From the moment I walked up I seen the neglect the place has received. Mildew and mold..plants growing out of the gutters along with a few holes. Walking in the door the smell is terrible. Smells of musty and moldy. Tried to open the windows and only could get the ones by the table to open. Couldn’t get the smell out actually went to the DG and bought stuff to try to mask it. Didn’t work. There was stuff on the wall in the one bedroom and mold on the ceilings. With being allergic to mold we tried to stay away or outside most of the time. Since being inside caused issues with my breathing. The handle on the refrigerator was broke and the pans that were there to cook with were in terrible shape. Last thing there is something living in the walls or ceiling because thats what a heard most the night. I was not happy with our stay and wouldn’t recommend especially if those with children.

Great get away with family and pets

Blue Jay cottage was a perfect fit for our family and two dogs. Nice accommodations, thoughtful furnishing and the hot tub was a bonus. More than enough room for our two big dogs to run and play in the yard.

Quiet stay

Stay was nice except the electric didnt work right had no plug ins in living room that worked half in kitchen called maintanence and was told someone would be out noone ever came told them at check out they just oh . The hot tub only halfed worked n so did the central air so it wasnt the best trip but we managed.

The property is really hard to find because the address in the outside of the house is different than the one advertised. We are lost! Second, we have to leave the property in the morning of the first night because they don't have any power and we have to throw all our food. We wasted our money and time. We complained and they they will not refund the second day because they said that it is our choice to go home despite no power and it is 100 degrees and we are soaking wet of sweat, is it our fault? They also charged two dogs that one of the dogs is a service dog. The dogs are only visiting too and they didn't stay and sleep there. They can charge me one dog for one day for they told my daughter in law that they only charge one dog but when I look at my card today, I've seen two charges for the dogs. This is a very bad experience living in this property with bad customer service and we wasted a lot of money for food and our time.

Spring Break Trip

The staff at check in/out were extremely friendly. Although it wasn't our first time in the area they provided a great list of local spots to hike and activities. House was in a great location. The living room was cozy and the kitchen had any pot/pan/appliance you could need. The house could have used some updates, the beds were not very comfortable and there were a few things that didn't work(exhaust fan in bathroom, sliding door on bathroom was off tracks, fan above the stove). However we still enjoyed our stay/time in the area.

Bug, rodent infested!

Upon arrival We were skeptical. I understand it’s a house in the woodsSo we Went On and made the best! Kitchen Drawers had mouse poop, roaches dead and alive in kitchen. Some sort of Bird or animalFlying in attic. It was a horribleExperience and the host has notBeen accommodating! We just wanted the 3rd night refunded because we did tryTo rough it out but it for u bearable!

Different levels of hell each night

First night the hot tub jets wouldn't work. Followed by the worst sleep ever! The beds were so worn out, you could feel the springs through the fabric. The maintenance crew came out, un-jammed the hot tub nozzles allowing all jets to work. Also replaced 1 mattress. They said they replaced 2, but it was only 1. Upon waking up after the 2nd night, we seen roaches! I mean come on, ROACHES! Most of our food was wasted because no one wanted to eat after seeing all the roaches! The outlet behind the couch didn’t have a cover & had a burn mark on it! Also some plugs wouldn't work and when we used others the electric would Flicker. The smoke alarm went off (from cooking the 1st night), but you could barely hear the alarm! So we decided to stay after all this. We decided to just wash & dry all of the clothes before we left, you know to ensure we wouldn’t bring roaches to our home! Well the washer didn’t even work! We told the crew everything that happened & for our horrible adventures we were offered 2 free meals per guest, which was 10 altogether, at their locally owed Delhi. When we went to collect our 1st round of meals, the workers told us we only had 5 meals and wouldn't get anymore. The worker was so rude and disrespectful we decided we wouldn’t want them making our food! We asked for a 140 refund for the food that was wasted & was told no! The only good thing is that everytime we messaged them, they did respond, but somehow was not helpful. Would’nt recommend this place.

Ok for the price

The place was cute. However the smoke detector needed a battery. The hot tub could be cleaned. The place was a little musty smelling and needs an update. Google maps does not take you to the correct address it is approx two miles from where it takes you. The floor was clean but slippery. Ok for the price we still had a good time.

We have grown up in nearby towns and attended Ohio University. This isn't just a vacation rental destination for us, this is our home. Watching our town and home grow has been a beautiful experience.
