"Above the Clouds" es una cabaña de troncos ubicada en 6 acres en la parte superior de Gateway Mountain. Las vistas del valle y las cordilleras al norte son espectaculares. La cabina es de 1500 pies cuadrados, con madera completamente natural en el interior y tiene todas las comodidades del hogar. En la planta baja se encuentra la gran sala con un marco de A de ventanas y una chimenea de piedra. También en este nivel se encuentran el dormitorio principal (rey), el porche cubierto, el medio baño con lavadero. Arriba hay 2 dormitorios (reina), un baño y un área de loft con sofá cama. La cocina es compacta pero está bien equipada para preparar una comida gourmet después de explorar y hacer turismo. Relájese en la enorme terraza y observe cómo se encienden las luces en el valle que hay debajo y los colores de las montañas cambian lentamente. Si el clima cambia, encienda un fuego de leña (madera incluida). Wifi está disponible, el servicio de telefonía celular normalmente funciona bien y la televisión por satélite está disponible. ¡También puedes agarrar un libro, rompecabezas o juego y simplemente disfrutar de estar "Sobre las nubes"!

Tome un viaje panorámico de 30 minutos en automóvil hasta el centro de Marion, Lake Lure o Black Mountain. Asheville está a aproximadamente 45 minutos de Above the Clouds.

Host was welcoming with instructions and a goody bag and responded if we had an issue. The cabin is in a beautiful setting high atop Bear Mountain. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. We had awesome family time during the holidays. If I could make a suggestion, it would be that the cabin have type of Christmas decorations when rented during the holiday season. We actually went to the local DG and bought decorations to decorate the cabin. Also, I would gladly have washed our towels and sheets before leaving, but I couldn’t find any laundry detergent. Overall, we had an amazing family holiday trip!

Great Provisions

Firstly, the property is meticulously landscaped & maintained and the long range view was spectacular! The cleanliness of the interior was spot on and we especially appreciated the welcome package including a generous supply of toiletries, soaps & cleaning accesories and yummo popcorn. Bath towels in excellent condition, smelling fresh and perfectly draped in place. Household provisions were plentiful and the amenities were great-we loved challenging each other at the pool table! Played cards on the breezy screen porch and did we ever relax! Great location, easy drive to Old Fort & a short hop from Black Mountain. The only thing that gave me pause was the strong smell of the hot tub, I was hesitant to enjoy it for long. Nonetheless, already plotting our comeback, and we WILL be back! Thanks for a great stay. Bravo for providing top notch accommodations. J&A

Weekend getaway

My wife & I, along with our two dogs, enjoyed the isolated and peaceful setting. The view is breathtaking. The house was super clean and beautiful inside and out. Highly recommended to anyone looking for first class accommodations.

Property was better than described. View was amazing. Hot tub was ready on arrival. Plenty to do within the gated community…hiking, fishing, waterfalls. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

The house was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. You do need 4WD to make it up the hill but once you get there. You will be impressed!

Beautiful cabin

Amazing view and fun drive up the mountain to get there. Definitely need 4wd to get there just as they said. Looking forward to staying in this cabin again. We will be back.

Great time here, did not want to leave the property once we arrived as it is a little precarious going up and down the mountain (particularly in rainy weather). Cabin was clean and views were better than advertised.

Great cabin just as advertised

Our family of 6 had a great time in the cabin. 4 wheel drive is a necessity as described in the cabin listing. We loved the area hiking and access to Asheville.

MothersDay Staycation

Wonderful views, quiet and plenty to do with a hot tub, pool table, fireplace and Tvs. Would like to have seen the screen porch cleaned. My wife spent 45 min cleaning the table and chairs so we could use the area. We understand the pollen but it was fine all weekend after she cleaned. Major concern is the fridge. Its unusable. After the first night we had to go to the store and use coolers for food and threw out $150 worth of food that smelled and/or tasted like fish. The food that we didn't use we threw out when we got home for the same reason. Loved the stay and would stay again apart from the fridge issue.

Definitely Above the Clouds

The home and property is beautiful and just as described. The views are amazing. It's quiet and serene. Check-in was easy, property management company very responsive and home was very clean and well appointed. Take heed to the requirements for 4wd. The drive up the mountain is beautiful but not for the faint of heart, especially when using the Sally Gap Gate. Bear Mountain Road is pretty well worn/washed out, as is the driveway, so try to be prepared for a heart racing entry and exit. Couldn't have asked for a better stay or location. Just hated the ride up and down the mountain (and we are very experienced mountain vacationers)

In the clouds!!!

My husband and I love visiting the mountains and we are always traveling to different locations. This cabin by far had the best view we have ever experienced. Almost every evening was spent relaxing on the deck, star gazing, and enjoying the view. We definitely will be back.

Very nice cabin

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It had a very nice view, was not too hard to get to despite the directions seeming challenging, and the property management was excellent. Our two complaints were as follows: 1. The fridge smelled horrible. The guests before us must have left fish in the fridge and/or freezer. It made our ice smell like fish, some of our food, etc. It was very frustrating, but quite obviously no fualt of the owner/management company. They had deodorizers and brought fresh baking soda for us. My issue is they didn't tell us before our arrival about the issue. 2. The staircase up to the 2nd floor is dangerous. We were worried about our kids going down the stairs. We won't come back to this cabin because of this reason, unfortunately. If you don't have kids though, this is a great place.

Absolutely Stunning Views

Wonderful property! The entire check in and out process was extremely easy. Arrived to a wonderful complimentary bag of coffee, paper towels and starter soap pack. Well stocked kitchen. Highly encourage 4 wheel drive as the last mile or so on the way up could be tricky with weather! The deck, hot tub and views are as promised!!!

Beautiful view

This home is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay! Definitely requires 4 wheel drive to get up the mountain. We had to leave a day early because we were expecting snow and did not want to get stuck. Everything was great but the only thing we didn’t have was toilet paper. Only 2 rolls for the whole place so we had to buy some more but other than that it was very clean and we enjoyed the view. The hot tub is by far the best part! It does take a good ten minutes to get up and down the mountain so calculate that in ur plans. Downtown old fort is quaint and cute. Thanks for the great stay💙

Relaxing Getaway

I couldn't have picked a better place to spend quality time with my family, overlooking the most beautiful mountains. The views from "every" room are spectacular. The owners are extremely accommodating with our pets and I thoroughly enjoyed the seclusion "Above the Clouds" has to offer. We will come again for future stays.

That view tho!

You can’t beat that view! It was unbelievable - a different amazing set of colors and mountains and clouds each morning and evening. The neighborhood was great. Secluded and beautiful, a true mountain getaway. We enjoyed the quiet. It felt like our family was alone on the mountain. The property was well-maintianed and as advertised. We enjoyed grilling out, wine on the back porch, and a family dip in the hot tub. The neighborhood waterfall is really impressive. And while we didn't need much, the realty company was very responsive. All of it was worth the 15-20 minute drive to the house from restaurants and sights. There's no trash service, so it's worth planning ahead that you need to haul your own trash out (no leaving it outside because of wildlife!). We highly recommend and can see ourselves coming back next year!

Best. View. Ever.

Believe the reviews. The view from this cabin cannot be beat. Huge deck to spend your mornings and evenings and find absolute serenity. We grilled out every evening and pretty much never left. If you want a true getaway, this is it!

There are not enough stars to give the view this property has. Spent every morning watching the sunrise. Gated community is so peaceful, especially their waterfall. I can understand why drive up might be daunting to some but at no point did I feel uncomfortable, and when you reach the top the view is breathtaking. We did unfortunately have some issues with the house during our stay, but the rental company was very easy to communicate with, and addressed the issues as promptly as they could. Not to go into all, but we were traveling with out 8 month old who crawls around/pulls himself up everywhere, and upon arrival needed to clean house ourselves (there was just too much dust/pollen in main areas). Only other thing to keep in mind is it is some distance to get anywhere depending how much exploring you are looking to do or essentials you need (30-60mins) but all part of being rewarded for such a view. This house is capable of being a 5star+ every time. Activities while there: Biltmore Mansion, Community waterfall, Catawba Falls, Chimney Rock State Park, Crabtree Falls, Western NC Nature Center & Asheville for day.

Our stay at "Above The Clouds"!

Our stay at this cabin was amazing and we'll never forget it!! My wife absolutely loved the hot tub while my boys and I couldn't get enough of the pool table! The drive up the mountain was a bit daunting, but it was SO worth it for the stunning views! If there was any way to improve the "Above The Clouds" experience, it would be limited to a couple of things. First, might I suggest having renters use an alternate gate into the complex to avoid the "scary" drive up the mountain side? We entered through the suggested gate when we arrived, but then exited out of the main gate when we left. I thought that the main gate route was much less harrowing (less steep)! Additionally, the water pressure could be a bit better in the showers. Aside from those couple of things, this place is truly one of a kind and I look forward to returning someday!! Did I mention the stunning views?!?! Thanks for sharing this AMAZING property!!

Above the Clouds

Loved the house and the views. Everything was well stocked with everything we could ever need. The only issue we really had was the downstairs was so cold even with the fireplace and space heaters. It really needs actual heat down there.

What a view

The name says it all. The views from above the clouds were breathtaking! The house is located about 30 min from Asheville and the Biltmore. The ride up may be a little intimidating for those who are not comfortable with steep roads. 4-wheel drive is the best way to go when you get to the gravel. We can’t wait to come back!
