Monique and PJ were amazing hosts, and the place is fabulous. A five minute walk tp the old town and castle with many restaurants- we thoroughly recommend staying with them. Comfortable, well taken care of and grateful for the air conditioning during a recent heat wave.

Lovely stay in Amboise

We loved our time at Le Clos Richelieu. The home had everything you could ever need and is very spacious. PJ and Monique and their family were very welcoming and helpful. Perfectly located for site seeing and restaurants in Amboise. Everything is walking distance. We highly recommend.

Perfect Location

Located on a large property in the heart of downtown Amboise. Short walk to restaurants and sites. The house is beautiful and has everything you would want for a holiday home. The Hosts- Monique and Jean-Pierre could not have been more welcoming.

The Perfect Place

We came with 4 adults and 4 pre-teens and had such a fantastic stay! The location is literally PERFECT and we fell in love with Amboise. This is the perfect location to travel the Loire Valley and still get back to home base and have a delicious dinner in The town of Amboise when you get back. The hosts were beyond helpful, the place is spotless and a dream to stay in. We hope to one day come back!

Perfect house, host and location!

The perfect stay! As we drove through the gates, we had an amazing view of the castle from the large garden and were so warmly welcomed by the hosts Monique and Pierre-Jean. The house is very spacious with everything you would need as a home away from home. The location is fantastic, walking distance to everything (restaurants, bakery, river, cycling and the castle) in Amboise and at the same time incredibly quiet. We hope to return again to this beautiful property and perfect hosts. Merci!

The perfect stay in Amboise

We absolutely loved our stay at Les Clos Richelieu. PJ and Monique were amazing hosts and treated us like family from the moment we arrived. The location of the home is just a couple minutes from the château where all the shops and restaurants are, making this the perfect spot for your Amboise stay. The grounds of the home are stunning with plenty of room for kids to run around and play and adults to relax in a lovely private courtyard. The house itself was perfect for our group of 5 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of space, comfortable beds, a great kitchen for cooking up dinner with our finds from the market, and great amenities overall. If you're looking to stay in Amboise, and you should, you should definitely stay here.

Amazing Home Away from Home in Amboise!!

Our group thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful home right in the heart of Amboise. It was perfect and the owners were so very kind, welcoming and helpful, they feel like life long friends. It was such a beautiful place and we so enjoyed the kitchen, family area and the outside sitting area. Even though you are in the middle of the little city of Amboise, it feels like a country chateau as the outdoor area is so well landscaped for privacy and relaxation but you are within walking distance from shopping, restaurants, the outdoor market and chateaus to explore such as Chateau de Amboise and Clos de Luce. We really hated to leave and will definitely be back!!!

Magical! House, location and hosts were perfect.

Our hosts were warm and welcoming. They helped with a change of plans and made life very easy. The location is truly magical. Close to everything and plenty of room for 5 young grandchildren to play safely. Our family of 11 had family meals in the large dining area. The giant Sequoia, castle views and hot air balloons were beyond beautiful. Our hosts helped with luggage problems and truly could not be kinder. We enjoyed our fairytale vacation. Clean, comfortable and convenient. Five plus stars.

Absolutely fantastic! I can’t tell you how beautiful the house and property is! Pictures do not do it justice. Spotlessly clean, and tastefully furnished. Kitchen is very well stocked. Monique and Pierre-Jean, the hosts, were amazing in every way. The location is perfect for walking to all major sites. Where can you ever sit and have a glass of wine with a view of a castle in your backyard? We were a family of 3 in our sixties sharing the house. The house is secured by large locked gates and the hosts live on site, but it is never intrusive. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in Europe. Don’t hesitate to book if you’re looking at this. We are already dreaming of going back.

Perfect!

This house is amazing - the house is well equipped, clean, comfortable, with a beautiful yard and tons of space. The hosts are unbelievably kind, helpful, thoughtful, and friendly. The house was just perfect for our family - we have two young boys and they loved the yard and the rope swing. The location was perfect for visiting the cute downtown, going to the grocery store, or visiting either of the two castles in town. The house was very clean, and had everything you could need. The hosts clearly put a lot of thought and care into their property and it shows. I totally recommend this place, if you're looking for a place to stay in Amboise, stop looking and book this place. We will totally return if we have the chance in the future.

Beautiful home, awesome setting in middle of Amboise

This three bedroom home is right in the heart of Amboise. It is an easy 4-5 minute walk to the Amboise chateau, numerous restaurants and bakeries, grocery store. The private parking area is an unbelievable positive as parking spots are hard to find in the heart of the city. The home itself is extremely clean and well-maintained. The yard area is great with a perfect view of the chateau. After all the above mentioned reasons to rent this home, you throw in the wonderful owners which just places this rental over the top. Monique and PJ were outstanding in providing us with information, answering all our questions and just spending time talking. These two people are just truly great hosts.

Comfortable home with a beautiful yard

First off, we like our privacy on vacation and typically avoid places where the owners live on the premises- but PJ and Monique were warm to greet us and then left us alone. Communication was great with them. The yard was our favorite part of the house- big and well tended, with an awesome view of the Chateau d’ Amboise literally right there! Plus they have a beautiful giant sequoia in their yard as well. It made for a great place to have coffee, aperitif, or casual dinner outside. The house is modest- simple kitchen and living room- but clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was also great to park our car right there, which is not always the case! The town of Amboise is just a 5 minute walk.

Enchanting Amboise Stay

As first time visitors to France, we were really hoping for the "c'est parfait" experience and Le Clos Richelieu absolutely delivered! If you are vacillating between a countryside rental and Le Clos Richelieu, you will not regret staying here. The home is a true French classic, well maintained with modern amenities. It is in a fairytale setting overlooking the Amboise Chateau. The gardens are welcoming and quiet and a magnificent Sequoia tree is the centerpiece. In addition, there is the perk of on site parking. Le Clos Richelieu is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the Sunday Farmers Market. PJ and Monique are wonderful hosts. They are gracious, kind and fun. Definitely a memorable experience and we were sad to leave and hope to return one day.

An excellent spot for a couple or a big family

The rental is a guest house to the main house on the other side of the driveway. Inside you'll have no view, but outside is a spectacular view of the Amboise castle. And indeed from the castle is an excellent view of where you'd be staying. I missed the chance to have my wife waving at me from the house's driveway, while I waved back from the castle wall. The rental has three bedrooms. The one on the ground floor is very nice, and has its own shower, but its toilet is across the hall by which one accesses the staircase to the second floor. On the second floor is a second bedroom with a number of single beds (for the kids) with its own bathroom, and through that bedroom is the bedroom we stayed in, very nice, with its own toilet and shower. The kitchen was stocked with the cookware we needed, and we had a nice dining room table and a nice living room area. The owner was helpful and friendly. We recommend it.

FABULOUS!

Where do we begin!?!! The experience was the best we’ve ever had on VRBO! Monique and Pierre-Jean were delightful, as well as, helpful at every turn. They recommended restaurants, best chateaus, balloon rides, etc, and gladly made reservations for us!! Our accommodations were clean, beautifully decorated and spacious! The pictures on VRBO did not do it justice. As we departed we felt as though we were leaving dear friends!!

Perfect home base & lovely home!

We rented this wonderful home for a short stay while touring the Loire Valley chateaus. Honestly we weren’t there nearly long enough!! We had great communication prior to arrival with the hosts who lived on property, and were greeted and given a tour of the home as soon as we pulled in. Everything in the house was perfectly clean, as described in the listing. Photos don’t do the home justice to how charming it is! The house had plenty of room for our family of 4 to spread out, we never ran out of hot water, and the air conditioning was great on hot days! We went down to the large Sunday market in town and the kitchen had everything we could need to cook a large dinner! I really can’t say enough wonderful things about this house, the location (everything in town walkable and you can see the Castle from the yard). If we are ever in Amboise we will definitely stay here again!

Séjour enchanteur

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Monique et Pierre-Jean. Nous étions 5 enfants et 4 adultes : la maison était parfaite en capacité pour nous accueillir. Superbe localisation en plein-centre d'Amboise, avec parking privé à l'intérieur de la propriété pour au moins 2 voitures. La maison est parfaitement équipée : l'air conditionné dans toutes les pièces a été un gros plus avec la chaleur ambiante. Merci à Monique et Pierre-Jean pour leur chaleureux accueil, leur disponibilité et flexibilité ! Vous avez aménagé un super endroit, et votre présence le rend très chaleureux. An absolutely fabulous property in the centre of Amboise

We had an amazing stay at Le Clos Richelieu, everything about the property was really lovely and was even better than expected. There was nothing we didn’t have. The property is in the centre of Amboise and the parking is a real bonus, you can walk into the town. The garden is beautiful, with shaded areas to sit, made even more perfect with a view of the castle. The hosts, Monique and Pierre-Jean are the most helpful lovely people you could imagine. We loved our stay in Amboise and would certainly recommend it to anybody. Thank you !

Simply wonderful!

A beautifully presented property with every need covered…updated to the highest standard while showcasing historical 17th century architectural elements...including thoughtful usable umbrellas for guests! The location cannot be beaten, right in the heart of Amboise with a view of the chateau…with a lovely garden and stream to enjoy under the giant Sycamore tree. Our hosts were wonderfully attentive and fun…and thank goodness for the air-con in the 40degree heat. Wish our stay could have been longer but definitely on the list to return to!

Three generations of family enjoyed the company of the most gracious hosts in our favorite home away from home yet. If you are looking for a true French character home with room for all, in a perfectly designed, well stocked gite with the most comfortable beds, this home should be your choice. We enjoyed lovely outdoor seating with views of the castle steps from our door while the children were able to explore on their own. We were provided with onsite parking with an electronic key fob for ease of getting in and out of the gated property. As such, we visited many Chateau during our short stay. Our only regret was that we didn't book a longer visit. Our host, Monique went out of her way to secure a wheelchair rental for me, as I had broken my foot the week before, and would not have been able to tour at all without it. She and her lovely Pierre Jean provided restaurant recommendations that suited us perfectly. Do not miss Les Arpents and Chez Bruno, and do not miss experiencing the finest of hospitality in all of our European travels!

Magnificent!

This is the most delightful venue I have experienced in my 40+ years of European travel. This is a charming, spacious house dating from the 1600’s, totally modernized, with anything you might need. When you step out you see the stunning view of Amboise Castle from your back yard. The estate is walled and has an with an electronic gate. It’s very safe and private. This sits across the property from the stunning mansion owned by the hosts, and the hosts are the finest thing about this stay. They were delightfully helpful with anything we needed, but not at all intrusive. They helped us find the take off point for our hot air balloon ride, took us to get gas when our cards were rejected, brought home made cookies. It was like staying next to THE most wonderful neighbors. Amboise is in the middle of the Loire Valley — the perfect location for day trips to the various Chateaus. The town of Amboise has charming restaurants, unique shops and culinary stores. But it was the delightful, gracious hosts that made this such an extraordinary, memorable visit to France. We will always be so grateful to them!
