Quiet River Escape

Check in was easy having a lock box with the key and a code text prior to arrival. Kitchen was fully stocked for us to cook or grill there with ease. I much appreciate the deck which made getting waterside with a wheelchair very easy. It’s quiet, with easy access into the Ellijay river from the back yard. The cabin, although small, was well furnished and comfortable. Lots of wild life. All enjoyed the stay even our two pups.

Wonderful River Retreat!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 3rd year in a row I have rented with Sliding Rock cabins. Each year, we have tried a new spot, but I think this will be a place to return to!! The cabin is big enough (4 adults, 3 dogs) to not be on top of each other, while also being cozy. The outside space is impressive! The boardwalk to the patio over the water is very well maintained and safe (unless you have a blind dog who tried to fall off the walkway!). Riverside Retreat had all the amenities needed, the grill was super convenient to the kitchen (though the grill grates could stand a replacement). Well stocked kitchen. Do note that the upstairs king "master" is not private- it is in a loft space. Only minor issue to us was that there was only 1 single 2 person hard wood bench in the covered porch. Fortunately, we traveled with some camp chairs, so we set that up on the enclosed deck to hang out outside during the rain. Relaxing, wonderful long weekend! Thanks!

A good place to relax.

2024 LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN THE MOUNTAINS

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an excellent time at the Riverside Retreat!The cabin was beautiful inside and our whole family enjoyed the outside! Our grandson caught his first fish and the dogs loved walking onthe deck and going down to the dog park.We drove into Ellijay on Friday and Blue Ridge on Sunday. We rode the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. On our way back in on Sunday, the deer were so beautiful to see. We hope to return at some point!

Dog Friendly Cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin is located on a cobble road with a handful of other rentals from the Sliding Rock company. The drive up to the cabin we all considered a ‘nightmare’ as the road is narrow, windy and definitely not smooth. We changed all our plans from the get go so we only needed to leave in the morning and once we got back to the cabin, we stayed there. The pros are that you may come across several deer and bunnies on the drive to and from the cabin. Don’t expect to play in the creek behind, it’s too steep and slippery to get down. There is a quaint little fenced off area for dogs but we didn’t use it and instead chose to walk the dogs up and down the cobble road. There are bears in the area, so make sure your dogs are leashed and let out during daylight hours!! The cabin itself was wonderful. They provided enough for the first few days. There are plenty of board games in the cupboard too, luckily the weather was great during our stay so we didn’t have any days indoors that left us time to play them. The hot tub was appreciated on the days we took arduous hikes. The water pressure and heat in the bathrooms were fantastic. We did see an army of sugar ants on the kitchen counter but I think that’s pretty standard for all cabins in the woods ?!?! The rest of the cabin was clean and comfortable and we had a wonderful vacation.

Also, the roads for the last mile or so are very rough. They’re very narrow, extremely bumpy and very windy.

We fished, played in the river, rafted down the river, used the hot tub. I cooked some meals and enjoyed our stay very much. We needed to reach out to the rental company a couple of times and they were quickly responsive. They are my favorite rental company. We spent some time on Lake Blue Ridge, the kids enjoyed eating at Papa's Pizza Buffet, and Okinawa was very good. I highly recommend staying in this cabin with Sliding Rock Cabins.

Went there for a 4 day weekend trip and it was amazing! The view was breathtaking! We relaxed, grilled, went hiking and ended our day floating down the river! Highly recommend booking this cabin!!!

We absolutely loved drinking coffee each morning on the deck overlooking the creek. We saw deer every day of our stay! So awesome! We also enjoyed cooking out and lighting fires in the pit by the creek. We couldn't ask for a better experience. As for the cabin itself, it was hard to leave. Of course, we ventured out to see falls, go to downtown Blue Ridge and Ellijay, and to a few other quaint towns. Still, we couldn't wait to get back to our cabin by the creek. It was clean, well stocked for a few days, and very open. Thank you for the wonderful stay! We look forward to returning.

I have little fur babies so fencing on the boardwalk would have been better for us. But that and the neighbors being so close were the only negatives from the whole trip. We had a great time.We will definitely book with Sliding Rock Cabins the next time we go to North Georgia.

I was on usable. It’s what we used as a primary decision. The two chandeliers in the main part of the house did not work. There was only two wine glasses. Probably need more. And very minor, but the salt shaker was empty.

Nice Deck Close to River Very Relaxing

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I stayed here in early November with our two dogs. The location was great, neighbors on both sides but quiet and the deck was perfect. Right next to the river which made it easy to access the view without getting dirty. Our dogs loved walking the deck and the small fenced in area for potty was convenient. Easy for all to relax outside and not worry about dogs running away. Hot tub was also great, easy step down access. Cabin was clean and kitchen well stocked, new pots and pans a plus. Lots of great games in closet. This was our third stay at a SlidingRock cabin,(two stays at other companies' cabins) in this area and the only downside was the lack of any rugs, especially in the main living room, which made the cabin feel less cozy. Other cabins had rugs which added to the comfort, especially for the price. We overall recommend this cabin. Steep road to this cabin was fun to drive also, our two wheel drive small SUV had no issues at all.

Perfect seclusion

Mixed impressions for our Mountain Getaway

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were thrilled that we found a mountain cabin that would allow our group of besties to bring along all our fur-babies! It's a beautiful setting and we loved sitting next to the river with our morning coffee or evening wine and just enjoyed being together. The cabin was very clean and welcoming (except for the musty odor) but we were very disappointed with the deferred maintenance around the cabin & property. The advertised photos don't exactly represent what you'll find when you arrive, especially the exterior and outdoor furniture. The gate at the walkway entry drags and the wheel is about to fall off. Several of the deck chairs & most of the Adirondacks near the river should be replaced. They are worn, ripped, unstable and falling apart. Neither the deck or walkways had been cleaned or blown-off in a while and there quite a bit of bird feces evident. One of the trees is quite obviously dead with bark missing & falling off. The screen door needs a new spline. This could be a real gem if the owner would just pay more attention to the upkeep and buy some lamp finals. Maybe post some more current photos. I think next time we'll choose another cabin.

Summer Getaway

Reviewer Comments: The mountains are always our destination for much needed R and R and Sliding Rock Cabin Rentals is always our go to for accommodations in the Ellijay/Blue Ridge area. The cabins are always clean and orderly when we arrive and they truly are the most pet friendly of all the cabin rental companies. We and our two dogs feel very welcomed and have stayed multiple times at a Sliding Rock Cabin and will be returning again in November. Thanks for making us feel at home.
