We were not able to get into the river due to rain causing a stronger current and murky water. We still had a great time walking, grilling and playing games. Sliding Rocks is the best dog friendly place to stay! The cabins are always clean and the staff are always kind and helpful!

Quiet, lazy, dog friendly river retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a perfect getaway for us- 2 couples, 2 grown children, and 2 dogs. The draw was being right on the river, being able to take dogs, and having privacy. Besides being in the river -the pool table, hot tub, screened porch, deck and fire pit were where we spent all of our time - we only went out for one meal and a round of golf. The cabin had all the essentials you would expect. The property was gated so the dogs had space to roam. From the main road turnoff to the cabin be prepared for steep, gravel, winding narrow roads.

We had fun playing pool and Pac-man in the game rooms.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pros: Fencing around the property is great for dogs. Appreciate the non-hassle with brining dogs. Good location on the river. Cabin was clean with no evidence inside of dogs. Screened porch was nice for relaxing. No worry with being too close to neighbors. Cons: The outside of the cabin is in need of some TLC. Some simple blowing and sweeping would help. Upon arrival, the entire 2nd floor temperature felt like an attic. Our 2nd floor guests stayed elsewhere the first night as we could not get it cooled down. While it remained hot, we did get it cooled down some for the remaining days, but it was still uncomfortable. We did see 4 roaches on our 3-day stay. One scurried up my daughter's leg upon entering the cabin. I understand cabin is in the woods, but it may be time for some attention from the exterminator. Ants joined us in the kitchen. There were 3 steak knives. We grilled steaks and had to share the 3 knives. The grill igniter doesn't work - must use lighter. The garbage bags were not the right size for outside cans, which was a pain. Previous guests had not cleaned up dog poop. This is not a reflection on Forever Friday. Shame on previous guests. This is what makes it hard for renters to allow pets! Cabin is a drive back in the woods on a dirt road. It was a haul. Be prepared.

Family fun on the river

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We only had a long weekend stay, but the kids wanted to stay longer. The cabin was great for 2 families with 7 people. The screened in porch, hot tub, game room and river access were our favorite parts. It is a log cabin so there are quirks. The upstairs was much hotter, no fan in the upstairs bathroom meant it got very steamy, ant invasion in the kitchen. The cabin was well stocked with the basics, we had everything we needed for cooking and entertainment. Some of the other cabins along the river provided tubes, this one did not so make sure to bring them. The town of Blue Ridge has a scenic railway, a ropes course and other activities. I wish we had time to visit the wineries close by. Easily enough to do to fill a week stay.

Summer Relaxation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin location was perfect. We loved that the entire yard was fenced in to allow our fur baby to roam freely around the property. We did get a workout from climbing the stairs from the main level to the water side. We had an issue with sugar ants in the kitchen and had to spray bug spray daily (this was a first for us as many previous cabins did not have this issue). Also, the doors on the main floor are difficult to open and close. Overall, the cabin had plenty of amenities and games. The family loved playing pool in the evening while watching the basketball playoffs. There are plenty of places to read and relax. It was such a peaceful stay.

It is very clean and well kept. Our two huskies loved the freedom and swimming in the river. The flat gated area makes it safe and easy to let the dogs out to go potty. We enjoyed relaxing and playing games. Thank you Sliding Rock for always making our vacations memorable.

We brought along our 3 little dogs, all under 10 lbs each, and loved the fact that the entire driveway and lawn area is all fenced in to where they were unable to get out. They are exploratory and loved sniffing all over the driveway and around the grassy areas. My nephews had a blast wading in the river. We brought waders for all of the kids to enjoy and they loved it! We tried our hand at fishing but didn't have any luck. The cabin was super clean and had everything we needed. The game room was excellent and kept the kids entertained! We loved the hot tub and all of the outdoor deck space. Truly enjoyed our stay here! It was super fun driving all the way back to the cabin, glad we had our 4x4 truck but it is not needed. My sister rented a car from ATL airport and got a small crossover that worked great, we flipped it into low gear and it handled the bumps and steep slopes very well. Thank you for everything!

The cabin is cozy, peaceful, and the perfect place to unwind. We loved spending time on the porch, relaxing in the hot tub, and just enjoying the quiet surroundings.Our dogs had an absolute blast, too! They loved exploring the outdoor space and lounging on the porch. It’s so nice to have a place where they’re truly welcome.Everything was clean, well-stocked, and comfortable. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. We already can’t wait for our next visit!

Our stay

We enjoed the cabin. There were a few issues that were there when we arrived and could not be addressed until after we left, such as water in basement game room. But I’m sure all will be fixed for next guest. The road to cabin was very long, windy and not what I enjoyed. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Great place

We had a great time at this place. It was clean and had everything we needed. As a person who doesn’t own pets I was worried about any smells, but it didn’t smell bad, which was great. The river was nice but not that good for swimming or fishing. Overall it was a nice place.

Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Forever Friday for my husband’s birthday in February and everything about the stay, from start to finish, was seamless. They truly thought of everything in this cabin. Our dogs were in absolute heaven and we loved the privacy, space, amenities and quiet. I do want to say the yard isn’t fully fenced in so if you have dogs who wander, be aware. The parking space is, however, fully fenced in. We would definitely stay here again!
