Comfy, cozy cabin near everything we love to experience on the north shore of Lake Superior - welcoming hosts, quiet evenings in front of the fireplace, miles of hiking trails, gorgeous views, waterfalls, and all the local artisans who make the area so special! We will be back!

Bed fairly comfortable, plenty of linens and blankets.Charming classic cabin. Wi-Fi kept disappearing while in use. Fridge door could be flipped for easier access. I ran out of coffee filters.Overall good value, I’d stay again

Donni and Carl have done a great job with a very small cottage. It had everything we needed for our short stay. It's essentially a hotel room. I can't see staying there very long because the kitchen is very small and it would be challenging to cook. It was fine for breakfasts that we packed. The refrigerator just held the few items we brought for just two cold breakfasts. No room for more. The reason for the 3 stars was the price. It was the most expensive night we've had in years. First class places cost less. I know things are expensive on the north shore but this was just too much for what you get.

Bike race weekend.

The Little Loon was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Great location near Lutsen with a beautiful road for walking. The owner also has an awesome shop on the property with treasures from local artists. Thanks for sharing your cozy cabin with us!

Little Loon is Perfect!

Little Loon was exactly what we needed. We had planned a kid free ski weekend and Little Look had everything you’d need and nothing you didn’t. A super cozy and well stocked cabin 10 minutes from Lutsen. Private and on a cool piece of property where you could hear the waves. Would recommend and definitely be back!

Anniversary Weekend Away

We had an amazing time at the Little Loon Cottage. The space was clean and cozy, and very quiet. It is a perfect little house tucked in the corner of the woods with the lake just across the way. We can’t wait to stay again.

Two delightful nights.

We wanted a rustic cabin close to the waterfall hikes near Lake Superior. It proved to be a great location for that, and the cabin is very private and quaint. We loved it.

A quiet respite

This little cabin was wonderful! We could hear the waves lapping just a little ways off and wind in the trees. It was peaceful. We played games at the table and read books on the couch in the evenings. It was close to all the hiking we wanted to do. Our host provided us with some fall drive ideas to see the leaves changing and some spectacular views. We hopefully will have the opportunity to stay here again.

Little Loon

This property was perfect. It was adorable. Had everything that we needed and some. Wonderful location to hit up some of the state parks. Our dog Miles enjoyed his stay! We will definitely be returning.

Cozy Cabin

We absolutely love Little Loon! We can bring our dogs, enjoy a fire, and it's close to Grand Marais as well as many hikes. It's comfortable and well stocked.

Great Cozy Cabin for 2

It is a very cute little studio, with a great fireplace to get nice and toasty. It is in a perfect location as a base to venture out to a lot of trails. It had a pretty well stocked kitchen (we cooked twice without too much fuss), and it was very clean even with a woodpile and fireplace. We would love to come back in the winter and check out the surrounding xc ski trails. My partner absolutely loved the place too. It was wet and rainy so it was great to come back to and warm up with the fire. It lived up to everything promised for an old fashioned cabin, with enough modern updates and conveniences to make it very comfortable.

Winter get away

We enjoy the trails in and around Lutsen and Grand Marais and Little Loon is located in the perfect spot. This was our second stay as it’s just a great cozy little cottage for the two of us and our little Border Terrier, Sophie.

Great little cabin

We came up to Little Loon for a week long stay, it was the perfect honeymoon destination for my wife and I. Cozy little cabin with lots to do in the area! Absolutely loved our stay!

Loon Cottage

Cozy cottage, perfect for the two of us and our little dog. We enjoyed coming “home” after a day of sightseeing. I brought sewing and reading, but with the cloudy weather, lighting in the cottage was not adequate. Next time, I’ll bring a small lamp.

Fall colors

We stayed in Little Loon - our second visit to the north country cottages- in the woods to enjoy all the amazing walks, sights and sounds of the North Shore. The cabin is so conveniently close to grand Marais one of our favorite small towns to visit. The cabin is quaint and cozy with a fabulously remodeled bathroom. The fire is ready to go on arrival and sitting by the cobble fireplace is wonderfully relaxing. The hosts are super responsive and we would recommend staying here.

Mountain Bike weekend

We were in town for the Lutsen 99er and this cabin was perfect! The working fireplace was so cozy and the cabin is cute, clean and comfortable. It’s labeled as a studio but there was more than enough room and it didn’t feel small at all.

Third Stay at Little Loon

I've stayed in Lutsen three times over the last 13 months, each time picking North Country Cottages, and each time, I've stayed in Little Loon. I love this place, it's so well run and the perfect escape from the hustle of the cities. Carl and Danni truly care about these cottages and it shows in how they care for them and the people that stay at North Country. I can't speak highly enough of this cottage in particular. It's perfect for 1-2 people. It has everything you would need and it provides a great place to rest and recharge the batteries. I will be back. And check out the gift shop, the candles are amazing and they have great art work too.
