Beautiful rental with history and charm!

Perfect rental and in the best Alsace town! Everything is perfect! The views were amazing. Jean Paul was very helpful and kind! I have recommemded this rental to all my friends and would definitely not hesitate to stay again. Parking was great to have.

Holiday Delight!

A most beautiful place for the two of us. Wonderfully decorated and appointed that made our holiday just perfect. The place was as described and beautiful. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessities and the living space was very comfortable. The bedroom was large and welcoming. The town was right around the corner giving us convenience to the shops but peaceful being away from the crowds. Just perfect! We will be back!

Perfect Apartment in Lovely village

Lovely 12 day stay. The apartment is very nice and well equipped. There is nothing we needed to be more comfortable. The owner was very accommodating the one time we needed assistance. The location of the apartment could not have been more perfect. It truly is one of the most beautiful towns in the Alsace area. You can visit most areas in Alsace but do not miss the town Kayserberg. We actually visited it twice. We highly recommend staying at the White Stork.

Beautiful charming apartment

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days and loved the apartment The reservation process was easy, check in smooth, and professional. The White Stork is the best of all our vacation VRBO rentals. I can't think of any negatives about our stay. The White Stork is beautifully furnished and charming and has all the needed amenities---kitchen well stocked, bathroom bright and clean, comfy bed, and beautiful views over the tiled rooftops and onto the rolling hilly vineyards. My husband walked to the bakery every morning to buy fresh buttery croissants to drink with coffee before setting off on our hikes or touring the other small villages. We sat on the balcony enjoying the Alsatian wines and terrific views in the afternoon before walking the few steps to dinner in charming Riquewihr. The parking provided was in a secure car park but the entire village felt safe. I know the owner has other apartments available(some smaller, others larger) and I would not hesitate to book any of them.

Thank you Susan for sharing your experience. The White Stork is on top of a former medieval winery. Facing the vineyards but less than 100 meters from the main street. Definitely a quiet and privileged location. Regarding the stairs to climb, there are 3 easy flights. The staircase was rebuilt to modern standards and each step is only 17 cm high. All availabilities shown on HomeAway for this apartment or any other one of ours, are always accurate since they are automatically synchronized with our own planning.

Absolutely Perfect

This is the nicest apartment we've ever rented. A historic property that has modern touches for added comfort yet retains the old world charm we were seeking. The kitchen has high end appliances and every pan, utensil, or food item you'll want. I was happy to find high end bedding and pillows- and I almost never find the pillows I need. Perhaps our favorite feature was the ample size porch overlooking colorful houses and old-tiled roofs. Luckily the porch is covered as we had a thunderstorm one evening but we were able to stay out and enjoy it. Jean-Paul was always available by messaging and his multi-lingual binder was full of information on dining, wineries and literally everything else under the sun. I don't know who was responsible for furnishings and design but literally everything was perfect. My wife thought the style was so stunning that a woman had to be in charge of designing. I don't know, but somebody has an incredible eye for style. I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting something, but whatever I'm forgetting was perfect. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in such a wonderfully preserved piece of history. We hope to return one day and I give it my highest recommendation.

Fantastique et chaleureux

Désireuse de faire visiter l’Alsace à mon compagnon, j’ai pris ce gîte situé sur le traditionnel parcours touristique de la route des vins. Arrivés sur place, nous avons pu nous garer en cette saison creuse, au pied des remparts et accéder en quelques mètres à notre hébergement . Et quel hébergement !! Un cocon de douceur délicatement décoré, propre, une vue imprenable sur mon Alsace et une chaleur douce dans toutes les pièces . Et j’insiste sur ce point à force d’avoir à subir le froid dans les autres maisons chauffées au dernier moment pour le locatif. Bravo! Je ne doutais en rien venant de la part de l’Alsace. Nous reviendrons nous cacher dans ce nid douillet parmi les cigognes. Profitez à votre tour de l’aventure romantique.

The property is fantastically located in a courtyard area close to the “main road” but so quiet. The apartment is as described and photographed - light, airy, very well provisioned, with views over the roof tops in one direction and vines over another. Recommended.

Wohnung Weißstorch sehr schön, sehr gut ausgestattet, mitten im Ort und trotzdem ruhig. Freundliches Vermieterteam. Alles gut. Restaurant-Tipp: Wistub SUZEL im Nachbarort Hunawihr. Freundlicher Familienbetrieb mit gutem, preiswerten Angebot. Mit Auto durch den Wald 5 Minuten, zu Fuß 15 Minuten.

Sensationelle Ferienwohnung

Diese Ferienwohnung war mit Abstand die beste, in der wir je waren. Es war sauber, ganz gemütlich und sehr komfortabel eingerichtet. In jedem Zimmer konnte man die Liebe zum Detail bewundern. Die Kombination von alter Tradition (Fachwerkhaus) und Moderne wurde gut getroffen. Die Küche hatte alle Utensilien, die man zum Kochen braucht. Eine Grundsubstanz an Gewürzen und Kaffee waren für den Anfang vorhanden. Die Wohnung war für den Februar sehr gut geheizt. Ein Kamin sorgte für Gemütlichkeit. Wir wohnten direkt auf der Stadtmauer von Riquewihr, einem sehr historischen Ort. In nur wenige Gehminuten ist man im Dorfkern mit vielen hübschen Geschäften, Weinkellern und Restaurants. Wir können unser Feriendomizil und die liebevolle Betreuung durch den Eigentümer sehr empfehlen.

Wir möchten uns noch herzlich bei Ihnen für Ihren Aufenthalt bedanken. Wir sind froh zu erfahren dass der Urlaub in unserer Ferienwohnung DER WEIßSTORCH***** in Riquewihr gut gefallen hat. Wir haben unser Bestens getan um diese historische Gemäuer in ein paar angenehme und bequehme Ferienwohnungen zu transformieren. Der Weißstorch ist oben aber leicht zu erreichen. Der Blick geht in 4 Richtungen aus, Weinberg, alte Dächer von Riquewihr, Wald und Berg … Riquewihr gehört ohne Zweifel zu den schönsten Dörfer in Frankreich.

Des étoiles plein les yeux !

5 étoiles plus que méritée pour ce superbe appartement et des milliers d'étoiles dans nos yeux lorsque nous y sommes entrés. Tout est exactement comme sur les photos (magnifique sapin de Noël y compris). Un confort et une propreté au top. Aménagement et literie de luxe. Vous pensez qu'il vous manque un ustensile de cuisine ? C'est que vous n'avez pas bien cherché partout ... :-) L'équipement est plus que complet. Tout a été réalisé avec goût et avec le souci de votre bien-être. L'accueil ainsi que les infos concernant notre arrivée étaient irréprochables. L'emplacement à un saut de puce du centre (dans notre cas, du magnifique marché de Noël tant réputé) n'est pas négligeable et assez étonnamment, est d'un calme olympien. Nous avons passé un séjour magique. C'était Noël avant l'heure :-) N'hésitez plus et foncez, vous ne serez pas déçus ! La réservation est très facile et rapide grâce à l'espace client personnalisé.

Ce bâtiment était une vraie ruine il y a peu d'années encore. C'était un vieux domaine viticole qui faisait face au célèbre vignoble du Schoenenbourg à Riquewihr. Nous l'avons ressucité en y créant quelques beaux appartements de vacances. Tout en haut du bâtiment se trouve la Cigogne Blanche***** où vous avez séjourné. Nous sommes fiers de pouvoir dire qu'il s'agit de l'un des plus beaux gîtes de la région, classé officiellement 5 étoiles par le ministère du tourisme. Des vues à 360° sur le vignoble, la montagne, les vieux toits de Riquewihr et, lorsque le temps est clair, un panorama qui s'étend jusqu'à la Forêt Noire en Allemagne. Merci d'avoir séjourné chez nous et soyez les bienvenus dès que vous le souhaitez!

Une petite merveille !

Tout a été parfait ! L'appartement est un vrai cocon, la décoration chaleureuse et élégante vous donne un sentiment de quiétude et la sensation d'être chez soi. Très fonctionnel et d'une grande propreté, sa situation au coeur du village est idéale. Tout peut se faire à pied, restaurants, dégustations de vins et balades... Accueil et service irréprochable.

A Beautiful Apartment

We had a very relaxing Christmas in this beautiful apartment. It is very comfortable and has lots of really good features, such as wonderful lighting, good furniture, plenty of modern electricals (2 coffee makers, a toaster and kettle) and unbelievable views. The owners and Valerie were very friendly and we were very happy.

A perfect stay

We stayed in The White Stork for two weeks and it was one of our more relaxing vacations. Although we were out just about every day seeing some place new, coming home in the late afternoon and relaxing in our little gem of an apartment was just perfect. My husband is tall but we felt like we had plenty of space. We enjoyed many meals out on the veranda over the garden and the church bells were a charming extra delight. This was our second apartment rented from the talented Krebs and the quality for us has been excellent - elegant yet super comfortable! No elevator but the exercise up the stairs was welcome. Cooking facilities and frig were top notch, washer came in handy. There is a wonderful little grocery a few doors down where you can find pretty much anything you need. Local markets provided all kinds of excellent produce and other goodies. Riquewihr is the perfect little village if you just want to stay "home" as there are beautiful little streets to explore. You can walk to other villages to get a break from the car. Alsace has a lot to offer, all within easy access.

From there you can see in all directions: old roofs of Riquewihr, vineyards, forest and mountain, Rhine valley and even, when weather is clear, the Black Forest in Germany! Be welcome back anytime!

best place we've ever stayed

The apartment was gorgeous. It was very private and quiet, yet close to everything you need. I enjoy cooking especially in the Alsace where you can source such great fresh ingredients. The kitchen enabled this and is very well equipped. The owner is meticulous and all of the instruction manuals for each appliance is available on site. The Kaysersberg market on Monday had everything we needed except fish and Valerie told us about a fishmonger in Houssen who was amazing- we were very very happy once we found him. We love the private balcony overlooking the town and took walks amongst the vineyards each evening after dinner. We will never forget this quiet, romantic vacation. Highly highly recommend the flat.

We would like to say a big thank you for staying with us in Riquewihr. As you can imagine, restoring old places needs a lot of efforts, not only money but ideas and some strengh and will to overcome all the obstacles. Our White Stork apartment is on the top floor of an old winery built in the year 1580 and facing the most famous vineyards in Riquewihr. The village itself is a gem on the Alsace wine route. Riquewihr was just elected this Spring "most beautiful village in France" by the Japanese travel trade association. Learning that our guests are having a pleasant stay is our best reward. A second wonderful sojourn at White Stork !

Having stayed at the White Stork apartment in March 2015 my husband requested a return visit in March 2016 ( his birthday treat - again) . For a couple who have never ever booked the same property rental in 15 years and 40+ rentals under our belt , this in itself is a HUGE compliment to Remparts de Riquewihr and their first class, historical properties. March can be pretty cold and sometimes misty and showery , but this year we had lovely clear sunny days during our short stay. The apartment is so warm and cosy and sitting on the balcony with a chilled glass of Riesling or Cremant is a joy to experience. A premium renovation with high quality fixtures and fittings the apartment provides a wonderful place to return after to after a day's touring. Riquewihr is a splendid location. Surrounded by wonderful vineyards and pretty towns but also close enough to visit Colmar, Strasbourg, Baden Baden, Freiburg and the Rhine. From my first reservation enquiry to checking out, the owner's responses were 100% efficient, helpful and professional. Valerie is charming and makes sure your arrival is seamless. The apartment is great for a couple, top floor so some steps, but great views and so peaceful. I can recommend this property in good faith and would not hesitate to book it again.

Un coup de coeur

Tout est juste parfait. On se sent comme chez soi : l'accueil chaleureux et professionnel de Valérie, le gite en lui même qui allie charme et confort et l'appartement la cigogne blanche avec son salon à la fois spacieux et intime et la jolie vue sur les toits et les vignes depuis le balcon ! Je ne peux que recommander cette adresse.

Merci d'avoir séjourné chez nous aux Remparts de Riquewihr. Comme vous pouvez l'imaginer, la restauration (une reconstruction en fait) d'anciens bâtiments comme celui-ci (une ruine au départ) demande beaucoup d'efforts, non seulement de l'argent mais des idées et une volonté tenace pour surmonter tous les obstacles. Notre meilleure récompense est d'apprendre que nos visiteurs ont passé un bon moment.

Cinq étoiles plus que méritées

Accueil parfait, explications détaillées et utiles, excellente documentation sur la région, appartement intelligemment conçu et décoré avec goût, ensemble chaleureux, balcon confortable avec jolie vue sur les toits de Riquewihr. Situation au cœur de la cité, mais à l'écart des flots touristiques. Loyer amplement justifié par rapport à ces prestations. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Accueil parfait, explications détaillées et utiles par oral et par écrit, excellente documentation sur la région, appartement intelligemment conçu et décoré avec goût, ensemble chaleureux. Grand balcon avec jolie vue sur les toits de Riquewihr. Situation au cœur de la cité, mais à l'écart des flots touristiques. Tout cela vaut largement le loyer. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Un viéritble cocon

Gîte d'exception de par sa situation d'abord, dans une ruelle calme et très tranquille, de par la qualité de l'équipement et des matériaux ensuite, et par l'accueil de Valérie ou de Monsieur Kreps en personne . Nous avons loué divers appartements de la meme "maison" (les remparts de Riquewihr), etr de différentes taille (selon que nos enfants nous accompagnaient ou non), tous de qualitéplus qu'excellente. Mais La cigogne est notre coup de Coeur . On y retrouenra en 2017, pour la 7eme année consecutive !

Les Remparts de Riquewihr (Ramparts of Riquewihr) is a small family business founded and run by a couple of tourism professionals - Martine and Jean-Paul Krebs - having many years of experience in airline business and travels. Martine et Jean-Paul think that - especially for a rather long stay (most of our guests are discovering the slow travel concept and are staying 5 nights and more) - it is not enough to sleep well during the night but it is necessary to enjoy the stay in a place which is somehow of the same level as the historical surroundings, the landscape, the mountain and the vineyards: beautiful.
