The Sentinel***** - Romántico apartamento dúplex en las murallas

Thank you for letting us know about your stay in the Sentinel apartment. We try very hard to satisfy our visitors but it seems it did not operate this time. We are sorry for that but it gives me the opportunity to clarify some points. About the bed: It is new (2012). Some people like a bed to be soft, some others firm, some even very hard. As many different people use our beds everybody will understand that it is impossible to match 100% of all expectations. We have the same bed at home. I find it perfect. My wife finds it by far too hard. We have chosen the beds made by a very well-known company specialized in bedding for hotels. They have a long experience: the bed should be reasonably firm, but not too hard. We took their best product. Some of our guests even wanted to purchase the same bed for their home! A new couch was installed in the living room last year by a well-known furniture and home design company. It is firm, hard even. The rest of the furniture can be seen on large pictures on our personal website. The cupboard in the living room is a genuine XVIIIth Century Alsatian piece newly restored. Same for the wooden painted box under the TV. The 3 tables, one in the kitchen the 2 others in the living room are authentic traditional Alsatian furniture. The armchair is a 19th Century famous Voltaire type (but with a seating recently reshaped). The 2 tall lamps near the TV and the couch were specially made for us by decorators using two authentic 18th Century wooden columns. The chairs are traditional hand-crafted Alsatian chairs. So yes, all this is worn. Worn by centuries of history written in the wood. We thought it would be a pity to furnish this very historical place with some unstylish modern and - yes probably more comfortable - pieces of furniture. Alsace is a region with a strong cultural and historical identity. The vast majority of our visitors comes especially for that kind of experience. The Sentinel is a historical place in a national heritage house. Some steep steps take you up from the street to the first floor (second floor for the US), at the same level as the former covered defence way of the ramparts! As described on our web that steep stair case is a piece of history. If this was an issue why not choose another of our 14 places? Yes bad weather is putting down one's mood. This year it seems all of Europe had to face unexpected cold and rain. We thank you for your indulgence.

Vielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung. Riquewihr im Elsass ist ein schönes Reiseziel im Sommer aber auch im Spätsommer (Weinproben!) oder im Winter (Weihnachtsmärkte). Sonderpreise in der Nebensaison (November, Januar - März).
