Golf trip

Golf trip with guys who are easy to please. Satisfied with a place to cook and sleep and a good tv with plenty of stations to tune into. A few items the owner is working on but we were comfortable and had a good time.Access to a private dock. A bar a short walk away. Short drive to three golf courses. Parking for up to six vehicles. Sleeps 12 guys although one room is two bunk beds but they were comfortable to tired guys who played golf, ate well, and drank well!If you want a high-end accommodation, look elsewhere. But as average Joe golfers it fit the bill at a good per-person cost.

No lavatories worked properly, kitchen disheveled, coffee pot dirty with old, molded coffee in it, old smelly garbage in kitchen trash bin, curtains could not be closed (hanging from rod),had to search for towels for upstairs bedrooms. Advertised hot tub was upside down in the yard. Advertised game room was trashed with black mold on walls. Need I say more?

DO NOT RENT

We wanted a family vacation at what appeared to be a beautiful lake home that was perfect for our needs. What we got was a holiday nightmare caused by a horribly misrepresented, fraudulent depiction of a rental property that is not currently suitable for renters. The photos of the property and the amenities listed in the VRBO description are wildly misleading. I don’t know if they were taken years ago or have been enhanced in some way, but they in no way represent the current condition of either the interior or exterior of the property. The house and the grounds are both in a general state of disrepair, decay and disorder. To start, the grounds are patchy and are cluttered with debris (including the “hot tub” which was laying upside down in the middle of the yard), the furniture is completely different than depicted and stained, and the AC/ventilation/filters/ducts are absolutely filthy with dirt, hair, mold and other contaminants. An itemized list: 1. Black either mold or algae around the kitchen sink and faucets. 2. Mold, dirt and dust around the air conditioning returns in the kitchen and upstairs. 3. Hot tub, as listed in VRBO ad, was laying in the dirt, upside down with pipes exposed. The dirt it was in was represented as lush, green grass in the ad. There are many more items to be listed but there isn't enough room to type them all. Owner hasn't responded to us and we are working with VRBO.

College coach

It could be an amazing house and rental. Needs updating but owner says that in description and the price point is good considering. Right on the lake and it’s a beautiful area. Our college basketball team played 2 games in SC and it was perfect for our group.

Fishing family reunion

The home is under repair which was disclosed in the listing and this was no issue for us. It had everything we needed for our time away. Family members ranged in age from less than 1 to almost 81. The spiral staircase is a bit daunting and is the only way to get upstairs where all but 1 bedroom is located - but it was fine once we got used to it. If we have the opportunity - we will definitely plan to reserve this home again.

Not impressed

Accommodated our large family but would not stay there again. House did not feel clean at all. There were dead bugs everywhere and closets had no room for hanging clothes due to the amount of stuff in them. Some beds did not have sheets and did not provide enough towels for the number that it sleeps. Owner responded quickly through Vrbo but pictures did not match the state of the house.

Catfishing is grate

We have stayed at this property three years in a row, and while it still needs some upgrading that the last owners did not do every year you can see inprovments that the new owners are working very hard to get done.

Review lake house on Lake Marion SC

The lake house has many issues needing TLC. The house and size of house is great. The bathroom toilet needs a new flap and flush master. The nobs on sinks need to be repaired, some water was turned off due to poor plumbing, kitchen needs some new appliances, the rails on the porch should be replaced, there’s more but not enough time

Boys golf trip

Great location, house has a lot of potential. It's old and needs some attention outside and in. Septic system has problems and smells really bad. Back porch railing is about to fall off. Some cleaning issues like master shower, grill and windows. Inside was comfortable and we all had a good time. The Marina down the street was a lot of fun. Overall a great trip, but would not come back unless safety and cleaning issues resolved. Web site pictures do not reflect the condition of this house. The owner is a good guy and I know he is trying to work some of these issues.

Unique property

This house was big enough to hold our family of 12 so that we could get together for the Thanksgiving holiday. The morning sunrise was a beautiful site. It does need some updates especially the back door and railing on the deck. Also, please be aware that the inside staircase to both the upstairs and downstairs is a spiral staircase. This could be an issue for some renters. Overall we were happy to have a large home that we could all come together to enjoy our holiday weekend.

Weekend vocation

The house was big but very old, no repairs was done probably in a few years. Water leaking in a kitchen and bathrooms, not enough lights in the house, all wood on the back patio broken, a lot of spiders and very dirty, the grill was very dirty and no gas. All kitchen supply unusable and more and more. Really not recommend this property.

A great house on the lake in desperate need of cleaning/updating

Great location due to proximity of lake. Great place to get away for some quiet and relaxation. We really enjoyed the pier area and utilized it a lot for fishing and swimming. However, the place was very dirty and outdated. Some of the lights did not work, the pots/pans and grill were/was dirty, toilets and tub were not cleaned and had some residue on them, the downstairs wine area and hot tub was unusable. To their credit, the owner was flexible with our check-in and was willing to work with us, however was unresponsive at times. Overall we had a good time and were grateful for the owner allowing a large group with pets to use his house. But it could use a bit of updating and deep cleaning to really improve the experience for us and any future renters.

The lake was great, but the house has been neglected. Not worth the 3200.00 we paid for the week.

I don’t usually like to do this, but I feel like I need to give those who come after us a heads-up. The house is run down and has not been taken care of. The bathroom sink in the main bathroom runs constantly. I tried to turn it tight to no avail. Dirty windows, chipped paint, the rail on the lower deck is rotted and and a danger if someone should lean on it. The first time we walked into the house, one family member said “this is a one time stay” we won’t be renting this place again. There’s much more that could be said but it would take too long. Vrbo, I advise you to have someone go and look at this house. It will speak for itself.

In my opinion and I'm sure many others, there may not be a better Lake Marion front lot and view than what we have here........... It's pretty special!

Very few houses on and around Lake Marion can accommodate and sleep 20 guests, plus you would be hard pressed to find a better location on the Lake with close proximity to the three golf courses located in Santee.
