Beautiful secluded cottage

It was a wonderful stay. Close to Shippensburg but felt like we where all alone in the countryside. Wonderful time. We will definitely be looking to stay here again in the future.

One of the prettiest & peaceful places we’ve ever stayed at on vacation. Tamela has truly gone above & beyond from the elegant decorations to the comfiest beds to the wonderful breakfast & treats! We were excited to be able to stay here & it truly over exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend!

Spectacular Farmhouse, tranquil setting!

We had an amazing stay at the Genteel Farm. The highland cows are a special treat in addition to the other birds and wildlife. Tamela is more than accommodating and the house is immaculate. So much attention to detail in the decor.

Beautiful place

It reminded me of the movie, The Holiday. Only difference was it was a french cottage in rural PA and not in England. Also, Jude Law never showed up. My stay was great. My host was fantastic. Many of my friends have noted that they would have their friends and family stay there. I loved the cottage and the cows.

Best stay ever!

This property is amazing! We loved the peaceful location and beautiful property. The hous was clean, and tastefully decorated. The property owner, Tamela was really kind and helpful. I would love to go back again. Anyone who has the opportunity to stay here will be blessed. Also the deer are out every morning early grazing in the yard. Such a serene place. Can’t say enough about it.

Wonderful family vacation

Spent 10 days on this beautiful property with my family. Tamela was an excellent host. The pictures don’t do the house or landscape justice. It is impeccable, with gorgeous interior decoration and the most comfortable beds, linens and towels. The house had everything we needed to feel at home with special perks such as the creek and fire pit in the backyard. I highly recommend this property and hopefully will be back soon!

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing experience

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful weekend away here. The home was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The grounds were stunning. We took our own beach chairs and towels and spent time sitting in the stream out back. It was a little tough getting into the water but once we did it was wonderful! We walked around the farm, saw animals and a thunderstorm roll in. Played games and ate excellent food. We all loved it and could have stayed longer! It’s amazingly beautiful here! Thank you so much! This place is a gem!

Beautiful and serene

This farmhouse cottage is a dream. It met all our expectations. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the quiet location of the property. The outdoor property was expansive and beautiful, from the front pastures where we enjoyed watching the sunset as Emmaline and Josephine grazed, to the impressive flowerbeds and their butterflies. The home itself was clean and carefully decorated. We really appreciated the details of the bathrooms. The parlour room was our favorite room with spectacular views. The piano was a bonus. Tamela even provided fresh farm eggs, fruit, and other breakfast groceries. We enjoyed some hikes on the Appalachian trail but you don't have to go anywhere because this property has it all for a peaceful getaway.

We struck gold!

Genteel Farm is 100% the private getaway that my wife and I were looking for. The property is pristine and a tremendously welcomed surprise when you arrive. The interior is beautiful with every detail thoughtfully attended to. The traditional French decor is updated with modern functioning systems to address all your comfort needs. The outdoor space is expansive and more than pictures can capture. Friendly neighbor cows will greet you from afar and shed a tear when you depart at the end of your stay. Tamela was a superior host and unexpectedly provided us with farm fresh eggs and appropriate fixings for breakfast. I would recommend this location to anyone that has even the slightest interest. You will not be disappointed! Thank you Tamela!

Girlfriends' Annual Reunion

Genteel Farm is a perfect retreat for our girlfriends' reunion. The property's gardens and outdoor space are as lovely as the inside with all the creature comforts you could want. This year we even had a visit from the new farm cat, Louie! Highly recommend this property!!

Great stay near Shippensburg

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home. Perfect for a Mother's Day lunch/family reunion, on a sunny afternoon overlooking the beautiful gardens and babbling stream below. In a quiet setting in the countryside, but only 10 minutes from town. The home was provisioned with everything we needed and more in terms of breakfast fixings, cookware, tableware--everything was thoughtfully considered. We loved it!

Heavenly!

As lovely as the pictures are, I was not prepared for the stunning beauty of this property. The landscaping and setting are truly magical. The attention to detail in the house is incredible and adds to the magical quality of the property. The thoughtfulness of the owner to stock the fridge with her farm fresh eggs plus other delectable food items was a first in the many times we have rented vacation homes. If I could I would double the stars in the rating!

Like a doll house.

This home is beautifully decorated and has a great lay out. Our family enjoyed our getaway to PA. The location is so peaceful and the cows were adorable. We loved walking along the creek and making s’mores in the fire pit. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything and more

I wish I could accurately describe this property and all the many personal touches Tamela puts into the property. The house has everything anyone might need including things to eat! The linens are soft and cozy, the beds very comfortable, the living spaces are something to behold. After all that… the outdoor space is really perfect! Thank you Tamela

Hidden Jem in the Pennsylvania Countryside

This home is amazing. We visited central PA for a car show in Carlisle and to visit Gettysburg. The house looked great in the pictures but it doesn't compare to the real deal. You approach the house on a country road lined on both sides with corn fields. The home is decorated in French country (inside and out) that is so authentic it would make the folks at Disney envious. The host is so kind and takes great care to make sure you feel welcome. The beds are extremely comfortable, the towels are high quality, there is excellent water pressure and the kitchen has everything you need. The backyard has a beautiful deck overlooking a flower garden and a huge lawn that gradually descends into a large stream. There is a firepit (wood provided) and ample seating. Each morning, local cows come right up to the fence as if to say good morning. If you're looking for a luxurious country getaway, I highly recommend this charming home.

Lovely setting for a friends’ reunion‼️❤️

Beautiful gardens surround The Genteel Farm, with great indoor and outdoor space for catching up with friends. Beds and linens are luxurious and each room is furnished in farmhouse shabby chic. Owner provided breakfast fixings beyond expectations-variety of fresh fruit, sourdough bread loaves, bacon, eggs, cheese, etc. Truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return!

"Three days of absolute serenity"

You must be there to experiance this beautifully groomed property with surrounding rolling farms. Our hostess created a perfectly furnished and decorated home without missing anything to make our three day stay a most memorable break from a long year of covid restriction.

Perfect country getaway

This house and property is a gem! Tamela is an excellent host and has thought of every detail. Quiet and secluded spot perfect for a girls weekend- you’ve got cows in a pasture out front and a stream running through the backyard. The house is beautifully appointed and very comfortable- more like a boutique B&B than your typical VRBO. We loved it so much we actually cancelled our day trip plans so we could just relax in this beautiful setting!

The perfect country getaway!

This property was exactly as described and more. The house is stunningly decorated while maintaining a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. We enjoyed eating dinner on the deck overlooking the beautifully landscaped backyard and creek. We also loved seeing the cows, Emmaline and Josephine, grazing in the field as the sun went down. It couldn’t have been more picturesque. Tamela was a wonderful host. She provided us with breakfast groceries, some soft drinks, and even had a beautiful cheese plate for us when we arrived. She was friendly and reachable. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for an escape.
