Casa histórica del rancho rural

Uhane Olinda es una casa de rancho hawaiana de 1908 bellamente renovada en el tranquilo y reparador Upcountry Maui. Ubicada a dos millas por encima del pueblo paniolo (vaquero) de Makawao y lejos de las áreas turísticas, la casa ofrece el ambiente de un amplio jardín, grandes árboles y una magnífica vista al mar. Verdant ranch land y Anuhea Flower Farm bordean la propiedad.

La casa ofrece un dormitorio principal con una cama queen, vestidor adjunto y baño completo. El segundo dormitorio tiene una cama king y comparte un baño completo con un tercer dormitorio. El tercer dormitorio tiene un nido con dos camas individuales.

Hay una gran sala de estar que se abre a un porche cubierto. Las puestas de sol desde el porche son magníficas con una vista del océano y la montaña West Maui. La mesa del comedor tiene capacidad para seis. El comedor con puertas francesas se abre a una terraza con vistas al césped, parterres y grandes árboles.

La cocina está totalmente equipada y el propietario deja condimentos y otros artículos en el refrigerador y los armarios que están disponibles para uso de los huéspedes. La ropa está al lado de la cocina y se proporcionan jabón para lavar la ropa, spray para quitar manchas y sábanas para la secadora.

Hay una cochera cubierta, así como otros espacios para estacionar.

No hay recepción de TV, pero hay un televisor para ver películas (DVD). Los lugares para alquilar películas se anotan en la carpeta de información del huésped. Internet inalámbrico disponible. Se pueden encontrar libros, juegos y rompecabezas en la sala de estar.

La hermosa zona de césped está rodeada de grandes eucaliptos y pastizales en los que puede ver algunas vacas. Nuestros invitados pueden usar fruta del naranjo y el tilo. Un columpio cuelga del enorme árbol de alcanfor en el césped.

No hay vecinos visibles desde la casa. En ocasiones, la granja de flores puede hacer uso del garaje separado.

La ciudad de Makawao, a dos millas de distancia, ofrece muchos restaurantes, cafeterías y maravillosas tiendas con una variedad de galerías de arte y tiendas especializadas, incluido un estudio de vidrio soplado. Las farmacias y las tiendas de comestibles (con alquiler de películas) están a diez minutos. La playa más cercana está a unos 20 minutos en coche. Todas las actividades de playa se encuentran dentro de 30 a 40 minutos. Toallas de playa están disponibles.

Maui Highlands

My family loved the house, view, location, neighbors; everything about it. My son was traveling with his grandparents and it was a perfect trip. They couldnt stop talking about what a special place it was. We'd love to go back and show the rest of the family. Mahalo for providing such a great place.

We loved staying at this peaceful, quiet, cool, property. The grounds and the home were immaculate and completely stocked with all that was needed to cook, clean and enjoy. We highly recommend this lovely property.

Beautiful, Tranquil Location

We were looking for a place located close to extended family in Makawao and found this home to absolutely fit the bill! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and spacious and the house gave our family lots of room to relax after long days. We also appreciated the cooler temps, even compared to Makawao! Hope to stay again on a return visit.

Beautiful and relaxing

Our stay in Uhane Olinda was an absolute dream! The stunning views of both north and south shores, combined with complete privacy and surrounding nature, made this a perfect vacation. The house is beautiful and very well kept. The property managers were incredibly responsive and helpful. We can’t wait to return!

Absolutely fantastic stay at this treasure of a home. Impeccably clean, spacious, well appointed and maintained. The area is quiet and serene with surrounding picturesque views. Great getaway in the Upcountry!!

Great spot for remote living and relaxation, while still taking in the beautiful scenery! Only a few minutes from a cute downtown area with little shops and stores, and only 25min or so from the Maui Airport. Even the stunning Twin Falls stop (on the Road to Hana) is less than 15min away. If you want space to stretch your legs and disconnect, this is the place :)

Great place in the woods.

This is a great place. Loved the accommodations and the location. Kitchen and living space was perfect. Everything was to our liking except the beds could be more comfortable. They did not have much padding. Other than that we would absolutely stay again.

Never stayed at a more peaceful place

House was immaculate. Big rooms, plenty of space to gather or for privacy. Views of the property and from the property were postcard quality. Stocked with everything we could need. Artist community near by with great food, shops and friendly people. Great base to start our daily excursions of Maui. Highly recommend especially if you want live like a local.

Upcountry paradise!!

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house was comfortable, clean, and well stocked ! The deck with its table and chairs was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with a view. So happy to find old favorites like the Pukalani Superette, which has a some great prepared foods to grab in the morning for lunch and is just a few minutes drive. If you plan your trip well, the Makawao rodeo ground is right down the road and still has events. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Tranquil Upcountry estate

Everything about this stay was perfect. Communication with host was easy and they were easily accessible and very friendly. The property is incredibly beautiful with picturesque views. It's an older home but up-to-date, well kept, clean and stocked with everything you need. Perfect location to avoid the tourist crowds but is within close proximity to all that Maui offers. We will definitely book this again!

Peace and tranquility

Their home is lovely. Well-stocked with all the essentials one might need. The managers are kind, attentive and informative. The greatest gift for us was the peaceful, beautiful area away from the tourist bustle. It is centrally located on the island and a very manageable drive to anywhere on the island. We are very grateful we found this gem.

The entire stay was incredible! If we had a negative it would be the mattresses. They could be updated since they seem to getting older. The mattress warmers were nice. Incredible home, grounds and view! We will be back.

Best Place for a Trip with Besties!

This gorgeous historic home provided the perfect venue for our girls' trip to celebrate a special birthday. We enjoyed magical sunsets while sipping wine on the lanai, delicious meals at the dining table utilizing a very well-stocked kitchen, and hilarious conservation and games in the cozy living room. The home is located up the hill in Olinda a few miles from the fun shopping town of Makawao. The ladies are already saying, "Same time, same place next year!"

Cannot Recommend Highly Enough

If you are considering a stay on Maui, look no further. Sterlings place will take you back to a time long forgotten. It is far away from the beach crowd and tourists, but close enough for a day of enjoying those areas only to return to this gem of a retreat. Beautiful bi-coastal views, right on the edge of where the island turns a little more green. It will be an experience you won’t forget. Just a short drive to Makawao, Pukalani or Kula for restaurants and stores. This is the one!

A Kamaaina Birthday Week on Maui

Our family came to Maui in the 1800’s. My sister, cousin and I spent our summers in Wailuku in the 60’s. I wanted my birthday week to be about reminiscing “those” days. This historic house with its pastoral setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The house, even though renovated has all the old fashioned charm from long ago. The kitchen brought back years of Maui crackers and hot chocolate as we got ready for the long drive to Haleakala, or eating guriguri on the porch. It was magical.

Relax on the porch and listen to the birds

Wow. I’ve stayed on Maui many times, but always in the resort areas. This home sits on a large, private lot and is absolutely charming, clean and totally peaceful. We loved sitting on the covered porch, where you can see both ends of the island! The owners were very responsive and welcoming. I highly recommend this home if you’re looking to get away from the crowds and enjoy nature. Thank you for sharing your home.

Quiet and peaceful

This was a wonderful place to spend 10 days and celebrate our 50th anniversary with our family. We loved this beautiful property and home. Quiet and peaceful. The views were postcard perfect. It is in a great location to avoid tourist crowds, but within close proximity to all Maui offers. 30 minutes to beach and snorkeling, one hour to Haleakala, close to the Road to Hana, zip lining, hiking, Maui Ocean Center. Our young grandsons loved playing in the large yard - swinging on the tree swing, flying kites, throwing their frisbee, playing with their bat and wiffle ball. A GREAT place to enjoy time with family! Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful, quiet, relaxing vacation with on old Hawaii feel

We had a wonderful, relaxing visit at this Maui home, enjoying a million stars at night, waking to the sound of roosters and cows, and still being within an easy drive of everything that Maui has to offer. The home was equipped with everything we needed, and we almost felt like just staying on the many outdoor porches and enjoying the great views of west Maui and the Central Valley. The home was equipped with everything we needed, including a travel cooler and lawn chairs, plenty of parking space, a tree swing, and lots of reading material to add to our understanding of Maui’s history. Thanks for making out first trip to Maui a memorable and enjoyable one.

Beautiful Views and Lots of Nature

We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in upcountry and hope to return someday. The property has amazing views, beautiful plants and trees, and so much nature to watch. We spent hours sitting at the various outside areas watching the butterflies and birds. Even saw a few pheasants and peacocks. The night sky was incredible on clear nights with so many stars. It was so idyllic and peaceful. The house was also very beautiful, clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. As other reviews noted, the owners took extra care to ensure the comfort of their guests with a nicely stocked pantry and other amenities such as books, games etc. This is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at over the many years we’ve vacationed.

Upcountry experience

Uhane Olinda is a place we will be talking about forever. The upcountry experience is one that every visitor to Maui should not miss. Away from the beaches and glitzy hotels is a world full of nature and beautiful vistas. We loved the quaint small town atmosphere of Makawao and enjoyed all it had to offer. The shops were fun, the restaurants were great, and the people we met were lovely. Uhane Olinda was beyond expectations. The home was perfectly restored and was well appointed to accommodate our every need. We picked oranges off the tree, took our turns on the tree swing, and enjoyed the magnificent ocean and mountain views from the lanai. We are so grateful we got to experience this wonderful place, this wonderful home.

Restorative is the way we describe our Olinda home. It is located in a part of the island few tourists see. It is away from all tourist areas and yet every part of the island is accessible. There is a beautiful green color, coolness and often a breeze not found at the beach that makes Upcountry so enticing.
