The villa is stunning and the pool is a highlight. You do need to walk up a steep hill to get to the villa bit it is worth it. Sceneary is phenomenal and the kids loved it. Whenever we needed something Giulia was always there. We will 1000% be back

Dear Michael,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your stay. We’re glad you enjoyed the views, pool, and some of the historic character of our 17th-century villa. As you noticed, the house is full of original features and antiques, which many of our guests love for the sense of authenticity it provides.
The Garfagnana region is quite different from the more touristic south of Tuscany — it’s rustic, traditional, and wonderfully authentic. Many of our guests choose it specifically for its excellent outdoor adventures such as hill walking, gorge exploring, and mountain biking, as well as the fantastic summer food festivals, medieval villages and very affordable local restaurants.
We appreciate your comments about practical details — we’ll take this on board to see where we can improve without losing the historic character of the house. The villa is indeed set in a hilltop village, and while access requires a short 100m walk from the car park, this is also part of what preserves its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views.
We’re sorry to hear that the area wasn’t the right fit for you, but we’re glad you gave it a try. Most of our guests fall in love with the villa and the Garfagnana, which is why we usually receive 5-star reviews. We do hope you found some memorable moments during your stay.
Best wishes,
Molly

Authentic, well restored villa with plenty of character
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful 15th Century Villa in Northern Tuscany. The outdoor pool was well used in the daytime and the open fire was lovely to sit around and chat in the evenings. The Villa was well furnished, with areas to congregate as a large group of 13 (in the dining room and around the pool on loungers) as well as plenty of alternative spaces including 2 balconies and seating areas indoors for smaller groupings and/or a bit of quiet time. The style is rustic and characterful and this building is very old so the sound does 'travel'; it's perfect if you're looking for a lovely authentic villa vacation in beautiful rural surroundings, however it's not the option to go for if five star luxury furnishings and 'mod cons' are your thing.
The location is also worth noting - this is a perfect location for people who want to get away from tourist traps and experience the stunning natural beauty of the Tuscan Mountains and small local villages but it is fairly remote so be aware that you will need a car and a confident driver as the road in is very windy, with a few steep drops. It's not suitable for less able travellers as the car park is about 100m below the house and it's a very steep walk. The views are totally worth it though. The owner was very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend staying here.

Absolute tranquility in an amazing propery
We loved the place - the décor is fantastic and the there was every thing we needed. The owners were great and very helpful.
I would really recommend the villa. There were 8 of us and the whole experience was just brilliant. Can't wait to go again.
The only negatives I have are the lack of parking and a bit of a steep hill from the public car park and secondly the price of electricity at €4 a unit (versus our home one of about 50c a unit) it was a hefty bill at the end of the week (€340).

Thank's for the great review. It's a newly restored house in the first year of renting and we absolutely love the villa. It's a great blend of the old antique house with its grand fireplaces, and tasteful and interesting features.
Just one point...all the electricity and gas used for hot water is included in the rental, and it's only the gas central heating which if required during colder periods is measured and paid directly to the owner. The rate is 4 euro per unit of 4 litres of propane gas, expensive in Italy and usually around 40% more expensive than most other European countries. The need for central heating in the low season is reflected in the low rental cost.
