Lots of sleeping accommodation but limited seating in the lounge.
Firstly thank you for refunding the deposit of £200. The cottage was certainly spacious although but we did find it rather cluttered with too much furniture and effects and to be greeted with second-hand food (an egg, some garlic, opened bottles of dressings and jam in the fridge, as well as an opened packet of (out of date) biscuits was a little off putting. Whilst the 2 fridges were useful, the freezer was so full of food there was no room for anything of ours or to be available to make ice for drinks etc. The small bin for waste food in the kitchen had not been emptied and contained remnants of food. The seating upstairs was very uncomfortable and certainly not sufficient for the 5 adults in our party with someone having to sit on the floor at all times. Had there been 9 people staying there is no way they all could have sat in the same room. The lighting was a bit of a mystery with a number of light bulbs not working, and the lack of plug sockets was evident by the adapters used, which we were concerned may have constituted an overload. Storage space was a premium with little or no hanging space available. Cupboard doors didn’t seem to shut properly, and we couldn’t find a vacuum cleaner so were unable to clean through as we would normally do on departure. I appreciate it is one of the facts of life living in a rural area, but as we were unable to close the window in the locked room on the top floor, we suffered daily visits from numerous flies and wasps. The main issue we had though was the accumulation of refuse left outside the front. The kitchen recycling bin had bags in suggesting it hadn’t been emptied for some time, and the two black plastic dustbins were full of refuse sacks inside and two inches of foul smelling liquid which when I emptied them made the job very unpleasant. The contents of the recycling boxes were all mixed up and overflowing on arrival, and this again made it unpleasant for me when I sorted it into the correct boxes ready for the refuse/recycling collection on the 22nd. By day of the collection we had generated only 1 black sack plus a few plastic and glass bottles, but I left out 5 black sacks of refuse and the 3 boxes of recycling. It appeared that there had been no collection of refuse/recycling for quite some time. Overall though it was a good location to stay and Debbie was very helpful calling us back immediately when we had the inevitable questions from not reading the clear instructions left for us.

Dear David, Thank you for review, your feedback is very helpful. I am sorry you had some negative experiences and the housekeeper was very appreciative of how clean you left the house. I think in future for two week bookings we will have a weekly cleaning charge rather than one on arrival/departure so we can deal with these issues if they arise. Here are our responses to your concernsKind regards Genevieve & Debbie
1) Recycling and Rubbish. The previous guests did not put out the recycling on the previous week, and so the housekeeper took some of this away but not all when she visited. There is only one collection every two weeks in rural areas which I agree is a problem and we will try and find a solution if a guest does not put out the rubbish. There was rubbish in one of the black bins when the housekeeper left, but the other was empty and the collection day was the Wednesday after your arrival so we hoped that this would be OK. It is a mystery as to where the other ones came from. The recycling (other than cardboard) does not need to be sorted, the council take this mixed but perhaps that is not clear enough in the instructions. I will amend. As you know we have had an unusually hot summer in England this year and so again sorry about the smelly dustbins. The housekeeper says she is sure she emptied all the bins in the house as this is part of her routine, but again very sorry if this was not the case. 2) Fridges - the ice tray is at the top of the large freezer, but it is a bit discreet, so I will mention this in the guide. There should have been one empty tray in the freezer. I am sorry about the items left in the smaller fridge. We will be more vigilant in future. 3) Lightbulbs, we do leave out several spares in case they burn out, but I have asked the housekeeper to check all of them replace them. 4) The vacuum cleaner is in the cupboard under the stairs, it is not necessary for you to clean as you pay a charge for this service, but appreciated. I will point this out in the guide. 5) The window, we could have come and closed this for you or provided the combination number for the lock. We keep this area locked because the attic is very attractive to small children. 6) TV room the TV room is really a snug and I agree it is not possible to have everyone watching TV at the same time. Sorry you found the new sofa uncomfortable. The cottage is our home not just a rental property so some things may not be to others taste

A little gem
Lovely cottage - I say cottage but inside it is a tardis. There were only the two of us so loads of room but able to take a large party due to the number of bedrooms. Enjoyed our stay very much. Very quiet village and nice neighbours :)

Lovely cottage in the heart of North Devon
Sausage cottage is roomy, warm and in inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The sun room is perfect for dining and there is lots of space to accommodate several people. It was the perfect, rural location, and enabled us to explore all the beauty north Devon has to offer.

Excellent, quiet cottage for families
We spent a wonderful week in the cottage! We did not miss anything, the conservatory is a great place to be. Great base to explore the north and south cost: valley of rocks, saunton sands, Woolacombe, Exeter, Brixham....

Jerry and I live between London and Devon. When we are at the cottage we enjoy horse riding and walking on Exmoor and eating at local pubs and restaurants as well as shopping in Dulverton. We have been married since 1998 and bought the cottage shortly thereafter and have restored it gently over this time. We produce children's TV programmes.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
The ancient cottage and barn is full of character and built over several levels. The garden affords views over pastoral fields and the two sitting rooms allow for kids to watch TV whilst adults sit by the fire with a glass of wine! The pub 3 doors down means you don't have to cook if you don't want to. I am from London and my husband is from the West country so we bought this cottage when we got married so that although we now live in London, Jerry can stay connected with his family and roots.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
The cottage is in a farming village a very short drive away from beautiful Exmoor where I horse ride but you can also walk and enjoy watching the wild ponies and deer. Tarr Steps neolithic bridge is also great place to visit. A bit further takes you to the North Devon beaches which are famous for their surf but also their huge sandy beaches where you can walk for miles. Nearby Bampton and/or Dulverton has a butcher, baker and other convenience stores, pubs and gift/clothes shops for retail therapy and supplies.
