Whippoorwill Hill - Quiet Guadalupe riverfront, book today!

Looking to escape to a peaceful place on the river? Whippoorwill Hill is the place for you! This great escape is 1,500 square feet and hosts up to 7 guests with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.

Originally built in the 1900s, this newly remodeled home features a cozy living area with ample seating and an HDTV. Head down the hall where you'll find a completely redone kitchen featuring modern amenities, stainless steel appliances, and essential kitchenware. The dining area features a table for 6 however, should you need more space you'll find it at the kitchen bar.

The master bedroom includes a king-size bed with an attached newly remodeled master bathroom complete with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed while the second bathroom includes a large soaking tub. At Whippoorwill, the kids have a spot of their own! The bunk room includes twin bunks and a slide-out twin trundle. There's also a washer and dryer available for guest use.

Outside is a place for gathering with a campfire pit area and plenty of seating around it. You'll also find a shaded side porch with comfy new furniture. If it gets to hot out, you're just steps away from dipping your toes in the river! Perfect for fishing, wading, floating, or bringing your kids along to splash and play, Whippoorwill Hill is the perfect riverfront vacay. The home is also minutes away from numerous river tubing outfitters, Whitewater Amphitheater, Canyon Lake and Canyon Dam, and much more!

*You must be 25 years or older to rent this property. Maximum occupancy at all times is 7 guests and 3 vehicles, strictly enforced. Please come and have a good time, but be aware that behavior that is disrespectful or disruptive will result in forfeiting the remainder of your stay. No smoking or guest pets are allowed on the property, though owner does have a personal pet, so home is not entirely free of pet dander. Book with Vacay Hill Country and come and enjoy all that the Hill Country and the Guadalupe River have to offer!

The house was spotless, and had everything we needed. The outdoor area was great, and the view of the river from the porch was beautiful. We hope to visit again in the summer months.

Great location and the bedrooms were nice. Really enjoyed the kitchen space. Was beautiful in the fall and would be fabulous during warmer weather. The place was clean but a little dusty- that's our only critique!

Disappointed from the moment we opened the door

I can't say that our conditions were deplorable, but it's not what we booked and there were barely any accommodations made for what we lost. We booked the house on Whippoorwill. Arrived at 3:55 (for our 4:00 check in) to a 92 degree house that climbed to 94 by the time we left. We sat by the water for a couple of hours while they "escalated our problem."We have small children. It was the whole reason we picked the house and location that we did. The water was shallow and crossable, the backyard was something we could play in all day. The kids were thrilled and again, it was the whole purpose of our vacation. They relocated us to a house a half mile down the road. The back yard was completely useless to us because it was so steep and blocked, it was very overgrown and the water was too deep to let the kids play in. I picked up 13 dead cockroaches immediateley upon arrival. Every morning I would find more dead cockroaches. We had no tub to bathe the kids in like we did the house we had actually booked. Other than the literal closet with bunkbeds, It wasn't set up for kids whatsoever. I sent pictures and expressed all the issues, I simply received a thank you for your patience response. I asked to at least be able to use the backyard at the house we should have been staying at.....that request was denied. I asked to be compensated since we couldn't use our rental for what it was intended for....we ended up spending about 600 on excursions that we were never supposed to have

Great location

Beautiful property, the location and access to the river is one of the best I’ve stayed at yet and the patio and chair spots are so relaxing. You MUST sit in the two chairs on the hill under the trees!! Only comments I would say to take into consideration are that the hill to get up and down to the river is no small feat, and although there are two bathrooms, the only standard shower is in the master bedroom, the guest bath is a bath tub with a shower sprayer connected to it but it is not mounted so unless you’re taking a bath then you have to hold the sprayer (this was not ideal but we made it work), and lastly this is an older property, if you have allergies or are sensitive to dust then you may have a flare up, we used our own linens but my two year old still got extremely stuffy every night. These things in no way ruined our time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I would recommend this property to anyone looking to have a great time at the river!

Great river house

We had a wonderful stay at the river house. Our only complaint is our second day. It was so windy and chilly. We couldn't enjoy the river. The house was so clean beds were quite comfortable every sheet and blanket and pillow smelled amazing. The little house seemed to have everything we needed from pots pans utensils to books board games, and blankets! I would definitely recommend somebody who's thinking about booking to book.

Ideal spot

The location is the best we have stayed on the river so far. People do come to the public side of the river but the area is large enough to share.

Wonderful!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Whippoorwill Hill! house was perfect for us and the location was amazing. Our kids had the best time running down the hill and played in the river for hours and hours. 5 minutes for the loop, so fast to get to for a long float around the Guadalupe! Couldn’t ask for a better time, we will definitely be back next summer! Thank you!!

Picturesque and great location

My family needed this. I always want to go to the mountains and they always want to go to the beach. This meets in the middle. River in the back. Just around the corner to the lake. Beautiful drives throughout the Hill Country. Loved it. The house was perfect with all the needed amenities and charm. We would die out on the back deck in the mornings and evenings. All my teenagers loved it. So it was a win-win, and it’s a short drive to New Braunfels if you need something, but there is also the Brookshire Brothers Market nearby. I think we will try to come down from the Texas Panhandle more regularly.

Perfect location for a perfect summer getaway

It's hard to find a house that can accommodate our family well and this one checked all the boxes. Well kept and clean and a fully stocked kitchen which is rare. We made lots of memories at Whippoorwill and we hope to come back again!! We absolutely loved the part of the Guadalupe in the backyard, rapids and shallow water to play in and some deep parts to swim. Best of everything!

Great property!

Wonderful location and very comfortable house. We really enjoyed the location on the river and the easy river access. The back porch view is phenomenal. Good kitchen and very pretty bathrooms. Property management company was very helpful and responsive. AC takes awhile to cool bedrooms but it was REALLY hot outside when we stayed so totally understand. Construction going on next door but luckily they don't work all day everyday but when they do, it was pretty loud. Would recommend the property if you're looking for a comfortable place right on the river. We ran into multiple people that said this stretch of River is the best because it isn't crowded. We would agree!

Relaxing stay

We will be back! The view and the location are perfect. Great view from inside too. One of the bedrooms and the dining room overlook the river. The home is spacious and has everything you need.

Best River Getaway

Best place to take a family. We have 3 kids who enjoys spending the day on the River in our backyard. The water was shallow enough for the kids to swim which a bonus rapid for play. We also enjoyed making a campfire each night making s'mores. The house was cute and cozy. It was very private and relaxing. Will definitely returned next summer!

Wonderful Weekend

Perfect little house at a great location on the river. Spent the day floating in front and relaxing while the teens went to Schlitterbahn. House is clean and well equipped in the kitchen. Firepit was perfect for S'mores.

Loved it!

The house was so nice! We appreciated the modern comforts mixed with old charm. We had everything we needed and the property manager was quick to assist when we couldn't get the heater to come on. Beautiful river views and easy access made it the perfect spot for us. We caught trout everyday. Definitely recommend.
