The fishing and crabbing have been so amazing this year. Just last week a 3 lb flounder was caught right off the dock behind the house. The group before that filled an entire cooler full of crabs. Hope you got to enjoy one of the beautiful sunsets. Thanks again and safe travels!

Great family get away

Great location!

Wonderful location and a beautiful home! The house had everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen was well stocked, and we had plenty of room to prepare meals each day. We spent majority of our time fishing in the canal and the bay, plus enjoying the beach which was minutes away. The outside area was wonderful. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful and we hope to return next year!

This house should have adequate patio furniture. You have to bring your own chairs and table upstairs and then back down when needed downstairs. Not enough skillets and pots for cooking for large groups. The house was perfect, other than that

Beautiful view

We enjoyed our stay. There were things that were wrong but the owner took care of most of them and is handling the rest. Great communication and a beautiful home. Over all it was a great home with breath taking views.

We just came out of a 6 month $100,000 remodel and a lot of the dishes, cups, and various items were moved during this process. I sent two people down in the first 2 days to deal with any issues that needed attention. Melissa was very vocal about how everything could be improved, so we made a list and made sure she was a happy camper. I happened to be on spring break with my family in Florida and understand both sides of the rental process. However, I tend find solutions before pointing out problems kind of guy. Overall, it was a symbiotic relationship that work out well. Thank you for staying with us and I appreciate your constructive criticism. Safe travels.

Perfect getaway

Our stay was amazing this was a perfect location. We fished and hung out at the beach. The walk to the beach and bay was close. We caught tons of fish. Charles is great to work with. The house keeper gave us some ideas to take the kids and they loved it. We will be back soon.

Glad you loved the house, the location, and that the fishing was wonderful. Sorry about the bathroom, the cleaning crew changes weekly and we try our best to stay on top of them. Having a house on such a wonderful remote point is amazing, but the cleaning crews have a high turnover because it is remotely located. Best wishes and safe travels, Charles.

Perfect for us!

The location was perfect! Able to crab and fish at the house and bay. Bought a pass to be able to park our car on the beach which meant no dragging all our stuff across the sand. There was plenty of space - our group of 9 never felt like we were on top of each other but we had ample space to eat and hang out. We will choose this house again.

Great Place

House was super clean and in a great location. We had a problem with the upstairs AC unit and even though it was Sunday night, July 3rd the maintenance guy came and took care of it in a prompt manner. Boat slip behind the house is great but make sure your boat can run shallow. My 22' pathfinder couldn't get out of the canal into the bay at low tide. So your boat will need to run in 1' or less. You can't blame the homeowner for this, just something to be aware of if you are brining a boat.

Glad you love the house and the location. The canal silts up at the mouth but the county was digging it out this week. I have a 20 ft Mako with a Jack Plate and can navigate it no problem when jacked up. However low tides can be a little tricky. Safe travels, Charles

Completely Perfect

We were celebrating the life of our son who recently tragically passed. We wanted to hold something on the beach for our closest family. With rain coming so often these days, we searched for a place on our son’s favorite beach that would be the perfect place in case it rained. The beautiful large home faces a canal that leads straight to Christmas Bay. On the opposite side of the home, a small road leads just several houses down directly to the beach/ocean. The best of both worlds. Charles is a fantastic host. Communication was very easy & timely. The home itself couldn’t have been more lovely. Spacious kitchen w/a large island to prepare food. 11 of us slept very comfortably. We would love to return and are already trying to set that up. Thank youCharles!

Close to the beach and bay

Overall out stay was great, communication and help/suggestions from owner where great. She was always available when needed and help us out with our questions. The house is clean and has plenty of useful things all around the house which is a plus in case you forget something. The house has plenty of space and is within walking distance to the beach and Bay Area. We caught fish and kids Miley’s seeing the hermit crabs. Beach is nice and not crowded. The only downfall was the mosquitoes they ate us alive, it was really bad, bugs spray did nothing to them. We even bought citronella candles and a fogger which helped for about an hour and then it was the same, other than that we enjoyed our stay. So if you can bring something that works to help with the mosquitos, you will enjoy your stay even better. Thank you for being so helpful during our stay!

I think I grew up living with Off as a Cologne in Galveston after big rains. However, they go away soon and are are not to bad most of the time. Thanks Charles

Not impressed

Started off when I double checked our reservation for bed sizes and realized that one of the bedrooms had been changed to an office a week before vacation and I was not notified. When I messaged charles I was assured that he would put back a queen size bed downstairs. When one of my guests rolled off the bed I found out that they had put a full size foam over a futon, this caused an overhang with no support. Additionally, I was then informed that the is no difference in size between full and queen. The refrigerator was nasty, dried and spilled food, and a wad of black hair inside. The ac filter did not look like it had ever been replaced. Floors had not been swept, I was told it is hard to get help there and my messages were sent to the cleaning people. Although Charles seemed helpful, he really didn't do anything except make excuses. I would not recommend this house for a family vacation

This is the first bad review I have ever left for a renter in 10 years. Betty is the definition of a half empty glass. She would call about needing more toilet paper, paper towels, and any dust or a random hair that she blamed on the cleaning crew. She called and said that the lights downstairs didn't work but as her daughter told her all you have to do is turn the switch on. She called about not having DirecTV when she turned the input to the wrong channel from the remote. The county required us to put a futon on the ground floor room because of septic and flooding issues. I made this very clear to her and she threw a fit. She acted like the entire world was coming to an end and I needed to return her money for the rental. The bed that was there was a full size bed and that is the same size as a futon.

Sewer problem

Pros: - Large, there’s plenty of space - Great views of Christmas Bay and decent views of the Gulf from a couple rooms - Has dock and area to clean fish/outdoor shower - Kayak Launch at the end of the road - Public beach across the road was decent Cons: - Terrible sewer problem, raw sewage leaking down the road and all in the driveway where we parked cars (horrible smell) - Multiple campers/small RV park right next door - Was not clean, smelly trash left outside and trash was not emptied in bathrooms from prior guests - SHALLOW water in Christmas Bay and in the cut/dock next to the camp. Average 1-2 feet - sometimes shallower. I couldn’t use the launch or dock with my boat. Ended up launching in Surfside 15-20 mins away - Couldn’t fish Christmas Bay with my 20’ Bay boat that drafts 1’. SUPER SHALLOW. Average depth is probably 1’-1.5’ - No stores or bait shops anywhere close (Surfside) - Home did not have any toilet paper, we had to drive 20 mins away to get some - Lots of traffic on road going to Kayak launch Might work for people getting together for a Kayak/Beach trip if property was better cared for, but not for people who are looking for saltwater fishing from a boat. Won’t be back.

So sorry about the sewer! We have it serviced regularly by a local company and called them out immediately to pump it. The water table is high along the coast and it can get saturated but the septic company serviced the system on Monday to eliminate the smell. While we are on that subject, I was stunned to learn about your trash/toilet paper problem. We met with the house cleaning service and changed people because of your review. I truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. As far as the boat situation I am somewhat confused? It is a public boat ramp used by hundreds of boats a week. It is shallow but I regularly run my 20ft Mako out if it. The sides of the canal entrance silt up and you have to make sure you are in the center when coming or going. Maybe you are not used to having a jackplate or running this bay system. I wish you would have called me as I could have helped you navigate the area with ease. If you would like to try and return, I will be happy to offer you a free night in the future and be there to help teach you to navigate the bay system. Once again I am very sorry your experience wasn't as wonderful as you expected and hope that you reach out to me to make it better next time.

Boat access from your private dock to Christmas Bay, Bastrop Bay, Intercostal Canal, West Bay, San Luis Pass, and the Gulf of Mexico. It offers the beach and the bay right next to each other. Boat ramp 100 feet from the house. Catch Redfish, Trout, Flounder and Crabs.

The wade fishing at the Beach and Christmas Bay right out your back door is outstanding and when your finished the sunsets are to die for!!! Park you boat at your back door on your private dock. Incredible sea and coastal bird watching.
