Summer Place is an Oceanfront 3-bedroom 2 bath cottage located in Kure Beach. Come and enjoy the peace and quiet while sitting on the COVERED OCEANFRONT PORCH w/ Rocking Chairs, and listen to the sounds of the waves. This cottage has a living area w/tv, wireless internet also provided for your entertainment and a fully equipped kitchen.

Take advantage of all Kure Beach and Pleasure Island have to offer! Enjoy the 30-minute ferry ride to historic Southport, Go fishing at the oldest pier on Pleasure Island, visit the North Carolina Aquarium, or go shopping on the Riverfront in Historic Wilmington.

We stayed several nights at this oceanfront home in Kure Beach, NC and had a wonderful experience.The house features beautiful sliding glass doors and large windows across the front, offering stunning, unobstructed views of the ocean. Watching the sunrise from the covered deck each morning was truly amazing. There is easy beach access via a private walkway, and a convenient hose outside to rinse off after coming back from the beachThe ground floor has a large washer and dryer, which was very helpful. Inside, the house was clean, smelled fresh, and felt well cared for. The shower pressure was excellent and the water got hot quickly—always appreciated in a rental.We cooked most of our meals at the house and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The stove and microwave worked great, and we especially appreciated the ice maker. There are not many condiments provided, so if you enjoy cooking, plan to bring your own.The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable—something I really value, as many rentals tend to skimp on mattresses. This one was excellent, not bouncy, and very supportive. We also appreciated that the home is dog-friendly.One small note, as with most beachfront rentals: if you like a very dark room for sleeping, I recommend bringing a sleep mask, especially with the beautiful morning light coming in.Overall, this was a fantastic stay with easy beach access, great amenities, and view. Would stay again.

Nice view, just lacks some finishing touches.

This house is a generally nice affordable way for a small family to stay right on the water in Kure beach. I would give this house 3.75/5 stars. The Good:The view is fantastic. Right on the water and only a few hundred feet of beautiful beach to cross to get there. No roads, or driving involved. On this metric the house delivered. The Not-So-Good:No Curtains: There are no blinds or curtains in the main room. It is blindingly bright with the 5-ish windows facing the water. Mostly this was okay, but at night there is no privacy and sometimes the sun is just too much. Towels and Amenities: They provided 4 towels for

Stunning views for quiet getaway

The pictures don’t do this property justice. You feel like you are on the beach even when you are enjoying a beverage on the back porch, or cooking a seafood boil in your kitchen. Close to so many fun spots! Away from the hustle and bustle of crowds. We had the most amazing time and will most certainly be back to Kure beach!

Cute beach bungalow

This house was very cute and in a great location. It was clean and kitchen had enough supplies to cook meals. It was great for our family of four.

Is location everything?

Location is great, however; there were many issues associated with the house. Some of these issues include a portion of the walkway to the beach that is in desperate need of repair. Nail heads sticking out of the boards, (which I raked my foot on one) and walkway posts with rusted screws sticking out of the top. In the house, the main bathroom tub does not drain. We called the management company, which was very helpful and came out and took many pictures, and they fixed it once. However, the issues resurfaced a day later. Some of the blinds were missing slats, there was a "repaired" hole in one of the walls in the master bedroom, none of the ceiling fan remotes worked properly or at all, mold or accumulated dust visible on the ceilings vents, towel bar in the master bathroom about to fall off, we had to have the light above the stove replaced, and numerous areas where the walls need repair due to apparent water issues. These issues may sound petty, however; when one pays a significant amount more for this house than one rented last year (one block down and one block off the beach which was awesome), the extra price you pay for for house with many defects, some health related, is not worth it. Lastly, the table in the living area is huge. Very cumbersome.

Great quick getaway

Quick extended weekend stay. Good location, right on the beach, great communication with property manager! Was traveling abroad leading up to the stay with limited access - property manager provided white glove service to get us in and set up!

Nice location, run down house with bugs

House is right on the beach and would be great if you are going to be outside at the beach all day and just inside for showers/sleeping. The bedroom our daughter and friend stayed in had bugs - some were inside the pillowcase/pillow and she was bitten several times. We discovered this on our 2nd/last night so reported it in the morning to the rental property manager. There were also “Stop Work Order” signs posted and orders to stop construction due to not obtaining a work permit. The staircase up was missing rails on the bottom left side. I asked the manager for a discount and they said no-that they would make a note on my account for next time I rent through them. I don’t use VRBO to rent through a property management company specifically - I rent for the specific location/property, so this is not particularly helpful. One very small towel is provided per person and no dishwasher pod or even an extra trash bag is provided. The home has been renovated and looks nice on the surface, however the renovation was done with cheap materials - laminate flooring, missing hardware on drawers in the kitchen, hollow doors etc. Again, it is in a nice beachfront location, but I cannot wait to get home to take a hot shower and lather up our kiddo in itch relief cream.

Wonderful view

House is very nice and a great location View is fabulous. Strongly suggest the living room furniture be updated. Not very comfortable especially if you are tall.

Gorgeous location however...

There were quite a few rusted nails that were loose and if one of us stepped on it it would have been pretty horrible (on the stairs and deck and railing (some of the deck boards seemed loose too). Also, another issue was that in the kitchen there were a lot of gnats ( we did not leave the doors open and we did not leave any standing water around ) - they were quite gross and they were all over the kitchen. Overall a great oceanfront beach house that needs a bit more TLC. Thanks!

Summer Place

Summer Place is an adorable beach cottage that has recently been redone Inside. The outside still needs some work but the Inside is beautifully done. We really enjoyed our stay at Summer Place until the air conditioner quit working. After reporting that it was 84 degrees in the house, management quickly sent someone to work on the air conditioner. He thought he had fixed the problem but the next day it was 86 degrees in the house. Thankfully Carolina Retreats was able to move us to another home that was also oceanfront. So glad our vacation was not ruined!!

Updated beachfront cottage

From the outside, this property looks like an old-time beach cottage; however, the inside is almost completely updated and decorated with an attractive modern designer flair. Really lovely view of the beach with beach access from the back deck. We saw some gorgeous sunrises right from the living room. Because of the location of the house and the time of our stay (late September) we had a huge stretch of beach virtually to ourselves most of our stay. The house is advertised as suitable for six and it really would be six adults or older children/teens--I would not suggest this location for young children because it is a smaller space not really room to get rambunctious in. Cons--the "almost" updated means that the bathtubs/showers and their fixtures are extremely dated and finicky, probably from the 1980s and poor drainage. Decking also showing age with loose boards and loose nails! No screens on sliding doors and outside stair from drive lacked any lighting. Presumably the owners are renovating bit by bit and hopefully will complete the updates soon. The only other con is that there is no fencing around the property or the beach access so we several times saw random strangers (men) coming from under the house, across the lawn and using the beach access. Some of the neighboring houses had fenced their lawns and gated their beach access, maybe advisable for the owners to do that with this cottage to avoid trespassing. Overall we would stay here again.

Great location

The house was just as pictured in the listing so there were no surprises. It was clean and the management company was responsive with the few minor issues we had. It was a great place to relax and the beach was nice and wide.

Beachy oasis

Loved this little CA vibe cottage. We loved the porch as much as the inside and short distance to the beach. Be prepared to want to stay forever.
