The Space

The Massinger blends the charm of heritage architecture with modern luxury to create a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. The main house, a stunning wooden heritage property with high ceilings, intricate woodwork, and original features, is complemented by a contemporary garden studio just across the back deck. With 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, the property comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests (maximum of 8 adults if there is more please reach out), making it the perfect base for larger groups.

Despite its central location—only 750m (10-minute walk) from Byron Bay's town centre and 850m (5-minute walk) from Clarkes Beach—the property offers unparalleled privacy, surrounded by vibrant tropical gardens featuring rainforest natives, palm trees, and exotic flowers.

The Main House

Upon entering the main house, you’ll be welcomed into the elegant original drawing room, complete with large stained-glass windows that offer views of the tropical front garden. The room is flooded with natural light and has a breezy, relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a board game, watch a movie on the corner sofa, or enjoy some music from the turntable and vinyl collection.

The spacious lounge and dining area has been recently extended to offer even more room for relaxation and entertaining. A large 12-seater dining table provides ample space for family meals, and the expansive 12-seater lounge is the perfect spot for gathering. Sliding doors open onto the large outdoor entertaining deck, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.

The fully renovated kitchen (2022) is the heart of the home, featuring an extra-large SMEG 5-burner gas stove, dual dishwashers, and a central island bench, ideal for meal prep and gathering together. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials, including an LG fridge, KitchenAid mixer, blender, toaster, sandwich press, and microwave. Whether you’re cooking for a group or enjoying a quiet meal, this kitchen has everything you need.



Garden Studios

The separate garden studios offer additional space for guests, with 2 self-contained bedrooms each with their own bathroom. Located just across the back deck from the main house, both have views of the swimming pool and garden.

The outdoor entertaining deck is a central hub, accessible from the lounge area and overlooking the pool. It’s the perfect space for BBQs, al fresco dining, and relaxing evenings under festoon lights. The deck has seating for up to 12 people and is shaded by a retractable awning to keep you cool during the day.

The swimming pool is a welcome feature for hot Byron Bay days, and the spa pavilion provides an additional space to relax and unwind with its sauna, outdoor shower, and comfortable lounge area.

Wish we stayed longer

The location is perfect....morning stroll to Topshop for the best coffee in town, lazy day by the pool and sauna, kitchen fully equipped to cook up a storm after visiting the local markets and walking distance to the best eateries in town. Didnt want to leave!

Beautifully appointed property / ideal for group booking

We had a great stay at the Massinger for our group of 6. There were plenty of full sized gorgeous bedrooms and bathrooms plus ample lounge space to socialise and a well equipped kitchen. Check in / out was smooth and simple thanks to keypad access. Off street parking was tight for two cars but doable. There is plenty of street parking available. The listing undersells this property in terms of size and quality. It’s a great holiday house with a private feel, in very close proximity to Byron’s Main Street without the immediate hustle and bustle. We would have loved the pool to be heated but the large sauna was a great alternative space.
