Let's Do Sunset! Bright & Classic Caribbean Style

Enjoy every sensational sunset from this bright and airy private location within walking distance of Cruz Bay. Easy walk to town but suggest a taxi for the uphill walk home. There are stone steps at entrance, so not a good choice for young children or elderly. The space is full of Caribbean character and was uniquely designed. I hope your stay at The Blue Stone Grotto will energize you! Our goal is to make this a safe-haven, it is private enough that you will be able to stay here and see no one.
There's is a private entrance and parking space. It is a secluded location, yet close and convenient to restaurants, bars, and beaches. We recommend the Blue Stone Grotto for 2 guests because it has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, which is air-conditioned, the living room has full-sized double door openings to let in natural breezes but no AC in living room.

Disappointed

I think this property was probably much nicer in the past. The actual property/yard is filled with junk. The deck and outdoor furniture was dirty. The views are mostly blocked by trees.

Stay in St. Johns

The property was awful! The walk down the driveway and stairs was treacherous! Homemad stairs, no lights! The lock on the door was a heavy chain, the bed was 4+ feet high. Had to use a chair from the kitchen to get into it. Not suitable for people over 60! The air conditioner didn't work! Shouldn't even be on VRBO!

Nightmare after long day of travel

Arrived at home around 8:30 pm. House is at the end of culdesac. You have to walk down steep hill. Pitch black no lights to see where you are going if you arrive at night. Walking down we were met by 2 large dogs barking. Couldn’t see if they were contained or not. There seemed to be someone in our place according to the directions I received and the sign at the top of the hill. Someone in the home. We yelled to the person inside with dogs barking. Were told by man it was a residence. We tried getting a hold of host-no avail. Luckily the taxi driver stayed with us. A local man asked to see the picture of the place we rented. We showed him the pictures and he confirmed we were at the right place. We walked down the hill again, and began yelling for the man to come out again and speak with us. Now understand this has been 45 minutes to an hour after we arrived in the pitch dark. He came out and told us the path to the rental was by a tree that had junk laying around the yard. When we went into the home, it was dirty, dirty sheets crumbled in a chair. Mattress in the living room another on the wall in the bedroom, paint buckets in the bedroom, and dirty and stained pillows. Called host, still no answer. VRBO customer support reached her.

Real Caribbean living

I loved this place! I used to live on ST. John in a unit quite like this. The open floor plan is wonderful and the unique interior stonework gives the place a special vibe.

Perfect tropical getaway

This is a lovely, eclectic apartment with great views. Tucked up on the hill, away from the village hub bub, yet not too far away. A short taxi ride to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We definitely recommend this place!

Looks are a little deceiving

Pros: great location, high ceilings, plenty of space, nice wood floors and big windows. It looks like the photos. The TV works, and there is a big fridge, the owner welcomed us with easy directions etc. The bathroom was small but very functional. Cons: the bedroom is noisy, we could constantly hear the dogs upstairs. The bed is very close to the wall and the lighting in the bedroom is poor. There were small ants/bugs and a cockroach in the kitchen. Water was leaking from the ceiling one night, there was no reponse when I tried to contact the owner.

first time to StJ

Spent only one night w/ son and his gf. Wish it couldve been longer. Clean attractive well outfitted flat. Good central location for ferry, car rental, grocery, launching day trips, etc, Thanks Kerrin.

The architecture is fantastic and full of Caribbean character. The design lets you enjoy all the beauty of the outdoors while staying safely screened in your comfortable grotto. The sunset views!

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Close to town, but private and quiet. Private parking space, private entrance, private level. Walk to town is 5 easy minutes, but walking home is uphill. May want to consider taking a taxi back, if you choose not to rent a car. I recommend a car because there is so much of the island to explore!
