Have morning coffee in the porch rockers, walk 10 minutes on the private boardwalk to a beautiful, uncrowded beach, take a ride around the island on one of our 4 beach bikes or enjoy all the golf, tennis and swimming that Wild Dunes has to offer. Spend your afternoon relaxing with a book or take a glass of wine to the porch and watch the afternoon clouds move over the marsh. When it's time for dinner create your own low country cuisine in our fully equipped kitchen or head downtown to to one of many amazing Charleston restaurants.

Wonderful, hidden gem

Terrific home with beautiful marsh/creek views. Lowcountry simple, uncluttered and clean; fun loft (shared space). Boardwalk to beach is fabulous (around the corner). Quiet, comfortable, and easy communication with Lucy.

Great house and layout for family vacation. Wonderful views on quiet street with beach access. Host was great to deal with and accommodating. Would rent again!

Peaceful and beautiful

House is located in a very peaceful neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Wild Dunes where the views of the marsh with the sunrise and sunset are absolutely gorgeous!! Lucy the owner is very responsive and a pleasure to rent from! The private beach is very quiet almost like your own private beach. It’s a fair distance from the house and challenging to haul chairs, coolers and bags to especially with the gate locks and long bridge to the beach. But the efforts are well work it for the beauty and privacy, just a talking point of you have children or older people with your group. The only surprise we had is that there isn’t a grill which complicated things for dinner planning. I would suggest making dinner reservations every night to avoid the long waits at any restaurant! Would highly recommend this property, it was magnificent and we were sad to leave.

Wild Dunes Haven Home

This home was so perfect for our family. It was large enough to sleep all 5 of us (sleeps more), yet the layout made it cozy and comfy. The views of the marsh are beautiful. The screened, wide and long porch made for a wonderful gathering space. The bike ride to the private beach was easy, quick and fun. And so fun to ride bikes around Wild Dunes. This home is wonderful!

Fantastic space

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beginning at the time we made the reservation through our departure, Lucy was a stellar host - communicative, responsive and full of helpful information. The home is lovely and spacious; one of the best we've had the pleasure of visiting among many different vacation rentals. We had all of the supplies we needed - from an expansive collection of towels to ample paper products to various cooking staples like spices and olive oil -- even a filet knife to prepare the fish we caught! The reviews posted by others and the information Lucy provided on VRBO were accurate and helped us plan our visit.

We had the most peaceful time at lucy’s beautiful house. The setting is beautiful, the house layout was perfect it was very well stocked. this is our second stay here and it was wonderful!

Gorgeous House and View

We stayed here last minute while our house was having renovations completed. House was well equipped, super comfy mattresses, spacious and clean. Lucy was very attentive and flexible with our shifting plans. Marsh views are incredible, Walk to the beach is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Serene and beautiful!

My Navy son was stationed in Japan, and his orders came through for Charleston, so I needed to find somewhere where we could visit, relax, and celebrate Thanksgiving. The house is exactly like the pictures - a master bedroom (with nice walk in shower, tons of closet space and fluffy towels) where the bed faces a wall of windows, a small guest bedroom on the main floor (on the opposite side) next to the half bath, a nice sized guest bedroom upstairs that shares a full bath with the loft area, which they has two double beds. Note - the loft area is completely open to the living room below, so if you watch TV or have conversation you risk keeping those sleeping in the loft awake. Upstairs bedroom isn't as bad, but it is open to the kitchen so again, cooking or talking could affect those in that room. There was the kitchen island and a dining room table that seats 6 very easily (could do more if you had some folding chairs) that made for a great holiday meal. Full kitchen, fully stocked with pots and pans and bakeware, plus lots of cooking utensils - making a roast chicken with all the sides was a breeze! And the porch! Despite chilly morning temps (one day down to 44 degrees!) we still went out to sit, drink our morning beverages and just watch the birds fly into and out of the marsh. The family room was awesome - plenty of seating for all, no squishing everyone on to the same couch. We had a couple challenges with the TV but the homeowner was super quick to respond and we sorted it all out. There were 4 bikes - "rustic" if you will (meaning they've really seen better times) but they held together to get us to the beach and back. The beach is about a 10-15 minute walk, starting down a super residential, quiet street and then a long boardwalk. Honestly, we did a shelling tour at Bull's Island, and also visited the public beaches along Palm Blvd, and we kept returning to this beach - it absolutely was our favorite. Quiet, lots of shells, occasional people fishing, just wished it had been warmer! This house sits very far back in the Wild Dunes development, and was tricky to get find. The only complaint had nothing to do with the house - just that most of the streets in Wild Dunes have little or no street lights, so driving at night was challenging especially with the wildlife. But the location is super convenient to Mt Pleasant and Charleston and the airport - nothing was more than 30-45 minutes away. We LOVED our stay and you will too!

I need to mention that the property owners had just taken ownership of the property and went out of their way to honor our reservations and ensure the stay was seamless and wonderful. The property itself is a well kept Wild Dunes secret. It is nestled in the trees with a back view of serene marsh. Catching breezes on the porch and gazing at the scene before you is very relaxing. The master bedroom shares that same view. The house is very interesting architecturally with a great upstairs for kids. We used bikes to pedal to the private neighborhood boardwalk and felt like we had the beach to ourselves. We thoroughly enjoyed the home and getting to know our hosts. Really hope to get back again very soon!

Picturesque and Relaxing Marsh Setting

Beautiful home and stunning location. Easy access to public and private beaches. Nice kitchen, perfect dining table for relaxing family dinners. Many gathering areas on the scenic porch! Owners were very responsive to our questions. We would recommend as well as return!

Marsh house

This was our 2nd time staying at this house. The house is lovely and modern. View is spectacular and serene. Saw deer everyday. Bikes were very fun.

Perfect getaway

This was our second stay at Gene and Cindy's beautiful, private home. It was even better then the first time. The house is beautifully designed with an open floor plan. It felt like coming home. It is amazing waking up in the master bedroom with the marsh all around. There is so much nature, privacy and tranquility being in the house. The house is very well stocked and very clean. We rode the bikes almost every day around Wild Dunes. Our stay just flew by. We can't wait to go back again.

Wish We Could Stay Longer

My family and I stayed at this property while in town for our Dad's celebration of life. It was great to all stay together and Wild Dunes is such a peaceful community which is just what we needed. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and it was easy access to Sullivan's Island which is where all of our activities took place. Our only wish for our stay here was that it could have been longer. Thank you Gene and Cindy for the hospitality and sharing your amazing home.

Here is the very best of Wild Dunes!

Thank you for sharing your home with us! We love the quite location with the most gorgeous views of the marsh! Took the bikes to the ‘private beach’ which had some pretty good shelling happening. Enjoyed all highend appliances in the kitchen! Did NOT want to leave!

Beautiful Property & Great Location

Every year our family stays in Charleston for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We always try to stay in a different location in the Charleston area. This year, we saw this beautiful home and immediately wanted to stay there. It did not disappoint. The house has a great location in Wild Dunes, right on the marsh. It was amazing to wake up to the marsh views every morning. There are just a ton of windows that allow you to soak up all of the beautiful sunlight and views. The house is beautifully kept. We had a few issues, but they were immediately addressed by Gene & Cindy. This is one property that we would consider returning to again next year.
