Need an escape ? An amazing view while “working from home”? Everything you need but in a quiet and peaceful setting? Then Shorething South Lighthouse is your place.

Get the feeling of staying in a lighthouse with 360 degree views to Lake Michigan’s shore which is just yards away on sandy Trailsend Bay.
This five level floor plan that revolves around a central, artist designed original internal water feature will give you a unique stay..
The house is being restored, updated and will be welcome to guests starting in 2021.
As owners of another top rated rental in the area we hope our new guests will find the same level of cleanliness and attention to details in this new venture as in our other property. It is family owned and operated with respect for neighbors, guests and the beach community.
Some details:
Downstairs suite with queen bed and walkout to patio facing lake. Adjacent to bedroom is a gathering area with queen sleeper sofa with upgraded mattress. TV and extra seating. Shared large bathroom with shower.
Next Level contains the Kitchen and eating area with all top end appliances, Viking Gas Stove, Sub-zero fridge and the main living room with TV, wood stove, sofa and reading and reclining chairs. Large deck off this floor facing lake for additional seating and dining. Spiral stairs off deck leads down to beach.
Next level contains a large shower and bath, laundry room and Master bedroom with King bed and additional twin sleeping sofa if needed.
As you wind your way to the top level surrounded by windows with sneak peaks of the lake and woods is a sleeping loft with queen bed and Serta sleep bench (twin), gas Vermont style stove, book shelves and reading nook for viewing the ever changing lake or just a cozy lofty get-a-way.

We stayed at this property on a fall trip with my daughters and granddaughter to go to Mackinac Island for this first time. This was the best VRBO we have ever stayed at. I can’t say enough great things about it. The owners thought of every little detail that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The house was nicely furnished, equipped and clean. The lake view is amazing. It was quiet and peaceful. The owners were very accommodating and communicative. We will definitely be back!

Communication with Tim was great! The house was beautiful, clean, and had everything we could possibly need. We loved the location - very close to Headlands Dark Sky Park, Mackinaw City, and Wilderness State Park. We loved relaxing on the beach!! It was a fantastic place!

There was an issue with our reservation but the host was able to offer us a different house to stay in. He was so great to deal with and we loved the area, especially the beach!

My sisters and I enjoyed three days at this property and it was wonderful. The house had everything we needed. The beach was great. Tim, the owner was very responsive to questions. The stars were amazing! We would stay here again.

This was a great property for our yearly girls trip. We spent most of our time outdoors on the deck or the beach, enjoyed the provided kayaks and walking up and down the sandy beach. It was minutes to town, but has a secluded feel. The Northern lights were a great conclusion to our stay. Tim was very responsive to our questions, resolved an issue very quickly, and was never intrusive.

A-Z Amazing!!From the moment we got there until we left, we had absolutely the best ever experience. From the beauty of the house, to the cleanliness, to the workmanship, to the attention to detail, to having things available that made you feel you were coming home to your own home and not in someone else’s home that would require us to go shop and fill it with the ancillary stuff we’d need. We obviously had to buy groceries, etc. but there were many things available that you may have only needed a small amount of that were already there. When we got there, Tim, the owner was finishing up all the last-minute touches, which was pretty cool. (He lives down the street)There was only one or two things that we had to text him about and he was Johnny on the spot and took care of it immediately. Lighting was amazing! Usually in a house, especially the kitchen you are struggling to have enough light. Tim put can lights in, which gave plenty of light in whatever part of the house you were in. He also labeled all the switches which made it so helpful. I could go on and on, but if you’re ever in this part of Michigan and would like the most awesome house ever, right on the lake, we highly recommend.

Our family had an amazing stay at the "lighthouse" lake home as my kids called it :). The home was well maintained and beautiful. The house is right on the beach which is all sand and shallow for a long ways out making it perfect for our kids. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy Mackinaw City area!

Fantastic time with kids and grandkids. On the lake with nice beach but only 10 minutes to Mackinaw City. Everything provided for the beach including kids toys and kayaks. Beautiful sunsets.

The location of this home was perfect, on the beach that was sandy with shallow water. The kayaks were a great addtion, along with the beach chairs. The home was very unique, with a lighthouse vibe. There are many steps as the home is 4 levels. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes ect., however there was no room for our food storage (cereal, cans, snacks ect.) The beds were comfortable. The stay was wonderful.

Can’t say enough about this unique and delightful place! Exceeded our expectations in every way! The beach is lovely, sandy, and great for swimming, kayaking, sunrises by the fire pit, and long walks. The house is comfortable, well cared for, clean and has a super cool design with the “Lighthouse” and Native American touch of the totem pole! While here, we could hardly pull ourselves away to go see the sights—but we did visit Mackinaw Island, Pictured Rocks, Tahquamenon Falls, Soo Locks, Dark Sky Park, and enjoyed mini golf, ice cream, and shopping here in Mackinaw City. Thank you to our wonderful hosts!

Cooler than expected!

We were pleased with this house and all the amenities. Our own beach was beautiful and peaceful. Our grandsons loved the kayaks and the lake as well. The house was beautiful and ample for the family. It was centrally located to many different places I.e. Mackinac Island/city, Cheboygan, and the Upper Peninsula. We were very close to the Dark park(but never really got dark in June) and the Wilderness Park. The Magyar’s were very helpful when we needed them. I would highly recommend this place and come back. Stunning views and fantastic location

We had the pleasure of staying for 4 nights in early June. This is a beautiful, clean home right on the shores of Lake Michigan. We enjoyed every second we were in the house. There is plenty of room to stretch out, 3 large bedrooms, 2 living areas and plenty of beautiful outdoor space. The “tower room” is particularly spectacular with great views of Lake Michigan! We had everything we needed and would absolutely stay at this home again. The location is perfect and easy to get to Mackinaw or to UP in minutes. One day we needed batteries for a remote, texted Tim and he had them at our door within an hour or so. We couldn’t have been happier. What a wonderful time in a beautiful home!

Lake Michigan charmer

We (3 married couples) had a lovely time. The cigar smoker halves of the couples loved sitting by the lake and smoking and watching the sun set. The hosts and their daughter were extremely helpful. There are lots of stairs, so be prepared.

We couldn't have asked for better!

The house and location are stunning! Its one of the best vacations we've had. Our host was always available, quick to respond, and friendly. Everything you would need was provided. Felt right at home, very comfortable home. Close to to everywhere we wanted to visit, yet very private and quiet when our days adventures were done. Cant wait to return!

Family getaway

We had a very nice time at the lighthouse! House was nice and spacious. There are lots of stairs as advertised but it made the house unique and interesting! The owner was very responsive when needed.

Great Up North Getaway

This house was great for our family. The owners were very responsive to questions throughout our stay. Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Good wifi and cable which allowed us to watch the Olympics which were on during our stay. The kitchen is on the small side but we managed. The outside was my favorite part of the house. Loved the beach, the fire pit, the deck. Although the frontage is pretty small, it was sandy and shallow a long way out. We were also able to enjoy the kayaks provided. Did some stargazing and saw a bald eagle or two.

Beautiful home right on Lake Michigan!!

This home looks newly renovated and is absolutely beautiful!! We loved having the windows open and listening to the waves all week. It is a very quiet location with hardly any one on the beach. The house is fully stocked and the Owner is amazing to work with!! Highly recommend this property.

First time in Mackinaw City

OMG I can’t say enough great things about this house! Facing west on Cecil Bay, sunsets absolutely gorgeous, conveniently located yet very private. Very clean. Very well stocked with everything you could need for a Machinaw vacation! Highly recommend it if you don’t want to stay in a hotel in the middle of the tourist area, yet want to be close enough to enjoy without more than a short drive.

Great place to stay

We were there for our son's wedding at the Headland park in October. The convenience was great. The house was much more that I expected. We enjoyed it so much that we would love to come back but our whole family is to large to rent here.
