A place for families to gather! Located in the Foscoe/Seven Devils area- a prime location for visiting area attractions- Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis, Sugar Mountain, Boone, and more! Enjoy our authentic 4700 sq. foot log home with an open floor plan, newly renovated lower level, and amazing views with end of the road privacy in the gated community, Spice Branch At Grandfather. The great room features a stunning stone fire place with gas logs, soaring ceilings, and a wall of windows. This home features 2 master suites, 2 bedrooms on the upper level with an additional king bed in the spacious loft. You will experience the beauty of the setting from every room in the house or from the wraparound porch. This home is situated on nearly 3 acres bordering North Carolina State Conservancy land. It is well-stocked and includes all you will need to experience a special mountain retreat, yet near many attractions you will want to experience!

Perfect mountain cabin with a stunning view

We have been coming to the NC mountains for years with extended family and needed an overflow house as our family has grown. This cabin was perfect; great layout, fully stocked and the best Mountain Views!

Thanksgiving

We had our family Thanksgiving weekend here, and it was fantastic! The size and space of the cabin was perfect for the size of our group. Everyone had their own space and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean. The spacious, open floor plan was great! The location was good, as well. The views were breathtaking, and it was just a short drive to the nearest grocery store. Would definitely stay here again!

Winter break

We enjoyed the stay. Great property , have everything to enjoy , excellent view and very well stock up of necessary item at the property. Plenty of parking. Drive from the town was about 2-3 miles, mostly easy drive. In winter with snow it will be difficulty without chain. We did not get significant snow on the road.

Pretty Remarkable

First - the architecture of this log home is both fascinating and wondrous - truly something to behold. The location is super private which enables it to be the perfect peaceful and serene setting - and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Totally comfortable in all regards. Host was incredibly prompt in response to one or two questions I had. Loved this mountain log cabin home !

Dream Vacation!

The pictures advertising Elk Ridge Lodge do not do it justice. This home is an architectural masterpiece. As you enter the property and see this home for the first time you will realize this is no ordinary log cabin. Upon entering, it literally took our breath away. The massive beams and the way they are assembled is a true work of art. The only thing I can compare it to is the Great Wilderness Lodge at Disney World. The expansive mountain views from the large porches were spectacular and changed by the hour as the sun and fog danced across the valleys. Every room has eccentric little details that make them special and the bathrooms are all special too with clawfoot tubs and large showers. The large family room on the lower level is such a neat family gathering place too. We played cards, ping pong, and watched movies together - a true family bonding experience. As a family, we went and saw several sights around the Boone area. We swam by waterfalls, shopped, and even ziplined, but honestly, the highlight of it all, was sitting in the grand room of the Elk Ridge Lodge in front of the fireplace with our daughters drinking coffee, wrapped in blankets, sharing the experiences of the day and making memories that will last a lifetime that our daughters will tell their children about. A vacation at this home will stay with your family forever. I cannot recommend it highly enough, If 10 stars were available, Elk Ridge Lodge is an 11.

Mountain Wedding/Rivalry Weekend/Thanksgiving

Great and well-appointed spot away from everything, but close to whatever you may need. We own a VRBO property similarly-sized, so we have a good idea of what it takes to make an offering like this. Excellent property

Second time renting this beautiful property. Obviously, we like it. It's a jewel and good for entertaining moderate-sized groups for dinner, etc. with the playroom downstairs and large decks. Only drawback is a somewhat weird floorplan related to bathrooms.

A great place to stay with several families in close proximity to the ski resorts. Very well stocked. Only negative, they are counting a loft area with a bed as a bedroom…just know it has no walls or privacy…and 3 bedrooms are sharing on bathroom, which can be hectic.

Amazing cabin!

This place is exactly as advertised! Plenty of room for our large family and they had everything you could think of in the kitchen! The drive up the mountain is a bit narrow and steep, and we were initially worried about getting up, but we had no issues and the roads were clear. The location was great, so closing to skiing and tubing but far enough away to have privacy and great views! The only thing this cabin is missing is a hot tub.

Snow country

We loved the house. It’s beautiful and has everything (other than a hair dryer, which drove one of the ladies in our group crazy). The criticism is that if the conditions are icy you really really can get stuck. So if you pay the big bucks to stay here (it’s worth it), make sure you get insurance and make sure that the insurance will pay up if it looks like the weather is going to make it icy. The need for chains is buried in the description of the property and, frankly, by the time I knew about it, it was too late to cancel because I paid and there was no refund. Luckily, we didn’t have to go anywhere on Saturday, so we stayed put. But if I had gone to ski, I would have been upset because we couldn’t get out (because we were afraid we wouldn’t get back in)/.

Very clean!

The house was beautiful with stunning views and we love the privacy of the location. We were very pleased with how clean it was and that it upheld the expectation from the photos. I understand completely the trash arrangement, but would be nice if something more convenient could be worked out with the trash site only being open certain days. Just a bit of an inconvenience that we had to haul out trash back to Kentucky because we check out on a day the trash site was opened. Otherwise it was a fantastic trip!

Exceptional Stay, Beautiful home

Our family of 12 recently stayed at this beautiful home and had a wonderful time; it was very quiet and serene. The views were great (even though it rained a bit) with plenty of chairs on the porch and wildlife to enjoy outside. The fire pit on the porch was a plus and night views amazing! The home was exceptionally clean, well appointed and very spacious. The kitchen was well stocked for anything you may need and more; the home is also well stocked with games, books, corn hole and extra linens if needed. The paved road up to the home was easy to navigate with only a short gravel distance up to home and with ample parking. There is easy access to unload at the front door and easy access to the downstairs bedroom from the lower level if needed. Communication with host was responsive when needed and check in/check out very easy. The surrounding area has lots to do and see. Would certainly recommend a stay at this beautiful home!

BEST MOUNTAIN HOME EVER!

This house was exceptional! We recently stayed here with our family and close friends. Everything was perfect from check in to check out. The house was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed right down to the mini muffin pan! The porch, fire pit and beautiful view were perfect for gathering and relaxing in the cool mountain air. We highly recommend Otter Falls and Grandfather Vineyard as fun things to do during the day. We will be back for sure!

The massive logs and many large windows inspire awe, and we enjoy the access to the beautiful views from every room in the house!
