Best Place-Best People

Traveled much of the world but only want to return here. Constant spectacle of sunrises, the waters of "Death's Door", the Washington Island ferry, eagles, ducks, otters, and deep, incomparable peace.

Unbelievable views in a warm setting

We really enjoyed our stay! A unique property that is well appointed, warm and inviting. The views and location are hard to beat. The location is away from the busyness of the towns on Highway 42, but not so far away that it hinders exploration of the popular spots in Door County. The house is charming and the host very responsive should you need anything. We will make a point to stay at this location again.

Our fave lakeside retreat

Our family (husband, myself, two adult daughters and two dogs) had a great time at Porte Haven. There was plenty of room for all of us and we found all we needed for relaxing, playing games, cooking, baking Christmas cookies, and exploring Door County. The beds were VERY comfortable ( and I rarely sleep well away from home!) and we loved having 3 full baths. The jetted tub with TV was a treat we all tried out over the course of our 5 days there - LOVE! The unique architecture was attractive and comfortable - would love to know the story behind the design. We were hoping for snow but Lake Michigan literally at our doorstep provided plenty of entertainment instead. The crashing waves were so like the ocean it was hard to remember we were in the Midwest! We loved our wine trolly tour at Door County Winery n Al Johnson’s Swedish Pancakes. Hügelhaus had yummy German food. A great winter vacation, despite not a lick of snow.

Extremely impressed with the facility and experience!!

We celebrated three milestone birthdays with our family (70, 60, and 50 yr old birthdays) with spouses. 6 adults in one facility can sometimes be too much over 4-5 days, but Port Haven was perfect for us all. Three bathrooms, and three very different style bedrooms( plus a fourth for the little ones had we brought any) kept everyone happy! Great pool table and dart board game room with a big TV for the Packer game, a super comfortable living room with fireplace, a huge kitchen and dining area for food and games, and a fantastic view of Washington Island and the ferry activity. Even a fire pit and deck outside facing the water- loved the list of items to bring and what NOT to bring was very helpful, along with places to visit, etc. Well done DC Cabins LLC- we will be back again!!! What a great experience!!!

Incredible House and Views

My family and I absolutely adored this house. The pictures really don’t do it justice!!! And it was really cozy and fun family experience. Would definitely come back again.

There’s no place on the planet I love more than Door County. I’m Caitlyn, wife to Jeremy and mama to two girls, Liliana and Addison. My extended family has been vacationing in Door County for more than 100 years, and I grew up making some of my all-time most-cherished memories here.

To help you to plan your vacations here, slow down for a little while, and experience time together that will be looked back on warmly for years to come. Door County is something special—it’s driving distance from Chicago and several Midwestern metropolises, but it’s remote enough to feel like an escape from the regular fast pace of life. You can cozy up by a fire in one of our cabins, spend your days on the water, or explore the specialty shops, unbelievable restaurants, outdoor activities, and delightful wineries Door County has to offer. There’s truly something for everyone in Door County.
