Nestled on a Lake Michigan bluff, where the Door County Peninsula meets the vast waters, Porte Haven offers a retreat like no other. Imagine waking up to panoramic views that stretch across the horizon, where you can watch the Washington Island Ferry glide by every hour, surrounded by the tranquility of the lake. Welcome to your upscale cabin perched atop an old boathouse, where every detail invites you to unwind and embrace the magic of waterfront living.

The Space:

Porte Haven accommodates up to 8 people (6 adults + kids, with children under 3 staying free), offering a master bedroom with a king bed, a bunk room perfect for kids, a guest room with a queen bed, and even a king bed in the boathouse basement. Three spa-like bathrooms elevate your experience, featuring amenities such as a sauna shower, a Kohler soaking tub, and an infinity sink that spills over in a mesmerizing display.

Perfect for multiple families

This property was perfect for two families with teenagers! There was something for everyone. We loved the uniqueness of the bathrooms and the cool game room that the kids hung out in. Very spacious! The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make our trip great. We hope to return back to this property in the future.

Our family had a great stay at Porte Haven. The view really can't be beat. The house is very unique, especially each of the bathrooms. It had a high end feel throughout. We loved using the pool table, dart board, and gameboard area. The layout of the house was also really cool with lots of interesting and unique spaces thoughout. The hosts were great at communicating and responding to any questions right away. We will definitely be taking a look at more of this hosts properties for future trips.

What a beautiful place! We loved our quiet and peaceful stay here over the Thanksgiving holiday. This place is unique, spacious, clean, warm and cozy, has amazing views, and so much more. I especially loved the fact that the furniture was comfortable and high quality - none of the cheap stuff you find in so many bnbs these days. The hosts were super welcoming and communicative, and made sure we had all that we needed for our little getaway. Thanks so much for an amazing stay!

The view was awesome, the pictures online doesn’t quite the show magnitude of how lovely and unique the environment is. You can see lighthouses in the distance, birds that you don’t see often. Just the amount of wild life that we’ve came across around the area as well was wonderful. Porte Haven itself was beautiful inside, very unique and everything seemed intentional. Adequate amount of beddings, towels and amenities accessible to us. Very professional yet we still felt the care of which of family owned business could only offer! Thank you again, we’ll be back soon!

Quintessential Cabin Stay

You won’t find better views of the lake anywhere - truly spectacular. The home sits as close to the lake as possible and the windows are large and abundant. Perfect lake and nature viewing for any season.

The views at Porte Haven really are hard to beat! The kitchen and patio view was where we loved spending most of our time. Hosts were very kind and had great communication with us during our stay.

This is a beautiful property with beautiful amenities. The location is amazing! It was the perfect location to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday! The owners were friendly and helpful :) I recommend renting this property and we will be renting again!

Fantastic communication from the very beginning. I had high expectations prior to our trip and was not disappointed. We loved the amenities and thought the location on the water was perfect! We could see Washington Island, Plum Island, and Pilot Island while inside or outside, what a view!

Unbelievable views in a warm setting

We really enjoyed our stay! A unique property that is well appointed, warm and inviting. The views and location are hard to beat. The location is away from the busyness of the towns on Highway 42, but not so far away that it hinders exploration of the popular spots in Door County. The house is charming and the host very responsive should you need anything. We will make a point to stay at this location again.

A Magical Time

A beautiful home with great amenities and the view was absolutely amazing!! We enjoyed listening to the waves crash into the rocks, and the sky was awe inspiring with the Milky Way directly above the house. We didn’t want to leave and are already planning our return trip.

Door County is something special—it’s driving distance from Chicago and several Midwestern metropolises, but it’s remote enough to feel like an escape from the regular fast pace of life.
