If relaxing indoors is more your speed, spend the day lounging in the 4 season room that overlooks miles and miles of unobstructed views of Lake Superior. Lake Muskallonge is a short walk from the property and boasts terrific inland fishing, boating and much more! Grand Marais, MI is a short drive 18 miles west and is the eastern Gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The North Country Trail is accessible from the beach for endless miles of hiking or go fishing in the famous Two Hearted River. Trail maps are available in the house or download AllTrails app. Bring your clubs for golfing at beautiful Newberry Country Club. A stay at Captain's Hideaway will truly refuel your soul and provide unparalleled memories for years to come.

We spent a couple days here in November and it was an awesome stay. The house is right on the lakeshore, and everything was as described. It was reasonably clean and very comfy! Any questions we had were answered promptly by the host and we didnt have any problems with access...or anything else for that matter. We visit the UP often and look forward to staying here again- this is one of the nicest places we have found up there when we arent camping. Awesome place!

We loved our stay stay at Captains Hideaway. The house was very clean and all amenities were provided. The location was superb, hardly saw another person on the shoreline. Our host was Elyse and she was very responsive to any questions we had. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely loved walking on the rocky shore and playing with all the beautiful rocks! One day Lake Superior was calm as glass and another she was quite wild and we were alone on the beach! The house has lots of good space and beautiful views, small dirt road getting to it and once you get past slippery rock at the beach it is amazing! Would go back!

Beautiful lakeshore stay

We loved staying here. Incredible location, beautiful beach, and lots to do in the area. The house is very well-stocked and has ample room for family. Wonderful!

Great beach. Loads of mosquitos!

Stairs to beach switch to rocks and the first rock is very very slippery! Definitely worth it for the beach alone though. Watched 5 fantastic sunsets!!! The kids and adults spent hours looking at rocks. Mosquitos were in attack mode but that is UP life. Not much sound proofing - could hear every word downstairs in the master upstairs. Kitchen only had one set of silverware so had to wash or use plastic every meal but otherwise had most items needed to cook meals. Upstairs master was very spacious. Bed was low and mattress was not very firm. Great view of the lake upstairs too. Master shower backed up water while showering, which made it slippery. Laundry is in a bedroom, so we had to plan around sleep schedules due to noise but machines were good size to do fewer loads. Overall we booked the house to have the beach and spent the bulk of our time there when we weren't out on adventures. Most days we had the beach to ouselves which was great with 6 kids!

The house was wonderful! Great location, great views, great relaxation! We stayed half the week here and half the week in Munising and we didn’t want to leave Deer Park! Thank you for sharing this wonderful home!

Great house and even better location! Owners super responsive and were able to accommodate all our needs. Well stocked we never needed anything. Would totally stay here again if in the area.

Perfect for a Thanksgiving trip with family

We stayed at Captain's Hideaway for three nights. It was a Thanksgiving trip for our family. The location, with impressive views of Lake Superior, and the house itself are super! It is a comfortable, well-stocked, and remote house. We had a winter snowstorm and some power outages, but with the generator that takes over automatically, we had no problem at all. Communicating with Elyse (the host) was super easy. We hope to come back one day!

Loved our stay

We loved our stay here! The property was clean and had most of what we needed. Our favorite things were going to the beach and rock hunting and going to the Uglyfish bakery every morning! Thank you for a great stay!

wonderful retreat

Captian's Hideaway is in a quiet, somewhat secluded loacation overlooking Lake Superior. The house is spacious, well laid out, clean, and very inviting. The kitchen and bathrooms were very well stocked. We loved the lake view and easy walk to the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Captain’s Hideaway is a dream come true. The UP is amazing for all outdoor activities. From scuba diving to shooting. Close to exciting activities such as Oswald’s Bear Ranch. Walk to Muskallonge State Park, a good place for moose sightings. So many amazing day trips such as Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks or Mackinac Island. The North Country Trail, the longest in the National Trail System stretching 4,700 miles from North Dakota to Vermont runs along the back of the property. 30 minute drive to Newberry Country Club for golf& dining. You can make a bonfire on the beach at night while searching for agates and Yooperlites. We hope you enjoy this home as much as we do. Do not hesitate to contact any of us with questions.
