3 acres of private Lake Superior beach front! Located on the North Country Trail. Muskallonge Lake located directly behind the property for great fishing or fish right from the Superior beach. Hike or kayak on the famous Two-Hearted river. Parking for RV and 2 out buildings for snowmobile, ORV and boat parking. 9 miles from Pine Stump Junction. Local kayak/boat rentals are available. Captain's Beach House located next door for extra rental space, contact us for details and pricing. We own 3 properties in a row for a total of 6 acres. @captainshideaway1. There are only 8 homes total on the private road.

Our second stay here and it was fantastic. The new stairs to the lake are a great improvement. The location is Superior. Hosts have responded to visitors’ suggestions and we noticed. Comfortable and cozy cottage with lots of space for any activities, nice amenities, a great fireplace, and the best stretch of beach. We will be back.

The cottage was great, everything was clean and cozy. We had an Aussie and a Corgi with us. They loved it and were crazy about the beach. It had great parking and a nice deck in front and a bigger one out back. Spectacular view!I would recommend this place and hope to come again.

The view was amazing. We didn’t get to see the northern lights but the sunrises and sunsets made up for it! Elyse was an excellent host.

Peaceful and relaxing!!!! Lots of stones on the beach, found a few yoopers stones bring a good uv light. Swim out past the rocks water is wonderful and sandy.

Cozy cabin

Absolutely loved this house and the location. Inside is very cozy and cute. Was a very enjoyable experience and communication was smooth with the property owner. Very helpful and responsive during our stay. Was all around a great experience and I would love to book this house again in the future.

Fantastic Home Rental

This home is the perfect michigan cabin rental in a perfect location directly on the beach. The drive to the house is lined in fairy lights, cute wood bear carving by door, adorable small touches throughout the cabin, some that made us laugh and others that were cute. Lots of provided items to fully utilize and enjoy the cabin including games, cards, beach towels, yoga mats. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed to cook. The views were stunning and beautiful, the rocks were piled on the beach and we found many great agates. The rental allows use of the fireplace which made our stay so cozy. Communication with the owner was so easy and she was available the whole time. What a great weekend!!

By far the BEST place to stay in the UP!

We absolutely loved our time here! I have been coming up to the UP for years! I have never stayed somewhere as beautiful as this home. The cleanliness, the view, and the owner's communication was phenomenal. Every amenity you could think of! This will be my go to when visiting the UP!

Winter Snowmobile Trip

Review applies to winter time only (summer time rental would likely not have these issues) -- location is great (close to snowmobile trails and great snow quantity). Access to garage is good for snowmobile storage at night - but not heated. Had a few issues during the stay -- walkway to house was not shoveled when we arrived, had to clear a path to get into the house. Driveway and parking area is ok for vehicles only, but trailers over 26ft will struggle to park and turn around. TV needs to be updated - missing quite a few apps and couldn't watch sports after a long day on the trails. Internet isn't terrible, but had a few buffering issues when trying to stream TV on a iPad. Super cold temps (10F to -5F) showed limits of baseboard heating and drafts from windows, had to have a fire going every night to keep temperature up. Communication with host was good, but couldn't do much to improve items above -- fixes/upgrades would need to be addressed before another renter comes in.

We love the privacy and lake view are amazing. Love the coziness of the house. The stairs to the beach is a bit scary going down and up from the house. Definitely love that firewood was provided!! Parking space was great! My family would definitely stay here again!

2024 Bucket List Trip

We had such a great time. Northern Lights were out two nights. Our view was Lake Superior. Can’t beat the beauty and majesty of the lake. Rocks were plentiful. The cottage was very comfortable, used the fireplace every night. Well stocked, clean and very comfortable. We will be back.

Perfect location for quick trip

This was an amazing location and the perfect cozy home to see the leaves start to turn and spend time walking the beaches. The owner was incredibly helpful accommodating a last-minute trip.

Captain's Hideaway and Cottage are side-by side properties located on 6 acres of gorgeous, very private Lake Superior beach front. Only 8 homes total on the road. The North County Trail, which stretches from Vermont to North Dakota, runs through our beach front. 1.5 hrs from Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. 20 mins to Grand Marais. Newberry Country Club has a beautiful 18 hole golf course. Tahquamenon falls is just 43 mi away. Take a day trip to Mackinac Island. We hope you enjoy your stay. Chris and Elyse Van Houzen
