The home is a brand new build from the ground up; purchased, designed and built as a vacation rental. It is a craftsman home nestled in a quiet, old-styled neighborhood just above Downtown and Balboa Park. The neighborhood of Mission Hills is centrally located and has a nice variety of its own unique restaurants and shops that are a pleasant walk away. Bustling Hillcrest, the Gaslamp District, and Little Italy are just minutes away by car. The World Famous Zoo and Sea World are just a few minutes away. Or stay home and enjoy a quiet restful time, with a newly built house that includes a large deck in the back with a view of the lovely wooded canyon and view to San Diego Bay. There is a large barbecue and outdoor dining/seating area, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. You can prepare meals and enjoy a beautiful view of the canyon and bay. This house has three en suite bedrooms with high quality mattresses and linens. The bathrooms are spacious and have beautiful tiles and stone. There are two TVs and Wi-Fi service. Susan and her family live nearby and are ready to help if you need something. Between the home itself, the neighborhood and great location, you will not be disappointed.

Note: This home is situated on a quiet canyon rim. It is not a party house. If your plans don't coincide with our policies, please do not book with us. Please see our Rental Agreement for more details.

This home is even better than the pictures. Susan is a great host. Everything inside and outside is super clean. The beds were very comfortable. We loved relaxing on the deck every morning and night.

The host was incredibly welcoming and available to answer questions and help when we got locked out one time.The house was beautiful, roomy, and well stocked. Loved the deck, except for the mosquitoes in the evenings. The airport runway is visible through the trees, which is neat and, at times, a little loud. But with the windows closed, it's not a problem.

Visiting San Diego

The owner was great at communicating with us. Very quick responses to questions. House is walking distance to coffee shop restaurant and more. We sat out by the fire table each night and really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend

Beautiful Home in San Diego

We unfortunately were not able to stay at this home due to a burst pipe in the house, but Susan was more than accommodating by setting us up in the house next door. The house was beautiful, location was excellent, and Susan was excellent at communicating. She left helpful tips of where to eat and where to go which made our stay all the better. Would 100% recommend visiting and staying in any of Susan’s stays.

Great Home in Mission Hills

This was our 2nd stay at this property. It’s beautiful well kept craftsman style home in Mission Hills. It is located 10 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from downtown. Great views from the deck!

Such a lovely home with a fabulous view! Private, quiet and exquisitely decorated. Very comfortable beds too! Kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking items we needed! It feels like a home not a rental at all. Just loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous location and home!

Susan's home is in the perfect location. We were able to visit the San Diego Zoo, take in a Padres game and walk into town and visit some shops. Sitting out on the deck was very relaxing and watched the birds fly in and around. We also had one night where we cooked out for dinner - so having the grill was fantastic. Her home is gorgeous and was a much better atmosphere to have a family vacation.

A Lovely Home Close to Everything

Wonderful and relaxing home. Close to the convention center downtown, Balboa Park, and Old Town. Lots of restaurants near by. Enjoyed birdwatching off the deck. Kitchen was well stocked. Overall, it was a really nice stay while attending a conference.

Beautiful and Perfectly Located VRBO

My family and I absolutely loved this very beautiful VRBO home. The home has three generously sized bedrooms - each with its own bathroom which is a real plus. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beautiful deck and firepit was a delight for morning coffees and evening relaxation. We had everything we needed in the home and the owner was super responsive. It is also just minutes away from the downtown area and a quick drive to La Jolla and other areas. Great restaurants are nearby. We highly recommend this lovely home!

Urban Canyon Retreat

This is a beautiful home with lovely gardens front and back. Enjoyed hummingbirds and an amazing canyon view from the deck. Even got to see the fireworks on the Fourth. The house is bright and airy and has everything four adults needed for relaxing in a sophisticated yet comfortable space.

Absolutely the BEST VRBO property

We spent 5 nights in this amazing property and it wasn’t nearly enough - everything about it is perfect for a San Diego getaway! The location is amazing - a quiet, beautiful neighborhood which made for great sleeping at night and fun (and safe!) walks every morning. The house is well stocked and absolutely beautifully decorated. Susan even left fresh flowers and fresh lemons - both picked from her beautiful garden - for us to enjoy! We had 3 adult couples so the 3 bedrooms with their own bathrooms was a huge plus. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were huge! We spent every morning and every evening sitting out on the beautiful back deck, enjoying the firepit and taking in the beauty of Susans backyard and surrounding canyon area. Susan was so accommodating and communicative - she made us feel like family. If we are fortunate enough to visit San Diego again, we would definitely return to this property. It was the highlight of our trip and provided an unforgettable experience for our family!

Fort 2 is well located, managed personally by Susan, and as comfortable as you will ever find in a home away from home. A romantic place for two, or a comfortable home for family vacations. The bedrooms are set apart with ensuite bathrooms...lots of space, and you don't have to share a bathroom.

Peaceful lovely home located on a quiet canyon rim with a view of the canyon and San Diego Bay. The deck is a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine or local craft beer in the afternoon while watching the hawks take flight.
