The Starlight Lodge, just a short walk to Lake Gregory
This beautiful cabin in the woods is nestled amongst the trees. Quiet and romantic, it's the perfect place to unwind. Read a book on the outdoor deck. Sip a cup of cocoa in front of the fireplace. Stroll to Lake Gregory, only a quarter of a mile away. Our home is a mere 90 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. It's a 15 minute drive to Lake Arrowhead. It's only a half an hour from Snow Valley for skiing and snowboarding.
The space
The Starlight Lodge is a peaceful retreat in the gorgeous San Moritz neighborhood of Crestline. Upstairs, enjoy wood beamed, vaulted ceilings, a generously appointed kitchen ready for a gourmet meal, a luxurious master bedroom with king sized bed, a guestroom with bunk beds (twin over full) filled with games like darts, shuffleboard, backgammon and puzzles, and a cozy living room with comfortable seating and an inviting gas fireplace. The large deck has a picnic table, hammock, and daybed so the whole group can enjoy the mountain air.
Through a secret bookcase door, you will enter the Enchanted Annex. This space has an additional living room with fireplace, tv and game system, a full bathroom, and two bedrooms whimsically decorated with fantasy themes. The Narnia bedroom has a full sized bed and a couch that lays flat and can be used as an additional bed. It also has a small desk that can be used for work or writing. The Secret Garden bedroom has a hanging queen sized bed adorned with floral garland. (please do not allow children unattended in this room. The bed is not made for aggressive swinging, but for a gentle rocking. Any damaged caused by incorrect use will be charged to the guests). There is another full bathroom on this floor for the convenience of those staying in the downstairs bedroom. And just outside the door there is a porch swing underneath the deck.
PET POLICY: We frequently host an elderly family member who is severely allergic to pets. Because of this, we ask that guests leave their furry pals at home. Although we love animals, for the safety of my mom, we must remain pet free.
Other things to note
This is a mountain town and is regularly effected by snow and inclement weather. It is required by law for you to travel with chains in the winter. Very dense fog can also be a problem. Please use caution when traveling.
Please note, San Bernardino Short Term Rental laws dictate that cars for VRBO units may not exceed the number of spaces available. So if traveling in a group, you may bring no more than 4 cars (two parked on the upper deck, two parked on the lower part of the property) You may be cited for any infractions of this rule.
The 54 steps leading down to the cabin from the top parking deck are lit with solar lights but they may be dim or out if the day has been cloudy. Please be prepared to use a flashlight to navigate the staircase if you get in after dark
We ask that guests remove their shoes when inside the lodge due to to the mud and forest debris that can be tracked in. If you do not want to be barefoot, bring socks or slippers for your stay!

The first time I traveled abroad, I rented a small apartment in the Trastevere in Rome. I loved being part of a neighborhood, experiencing the city as a local instead of a tourist. I am so pleased that I can now offer my vacation home to other visitors may also have the same "local" experience.
My husband, Ben, and I were high school sweethearts. We grew up in Indiana and share the same Midwestern sense of hospitality, responsibility and friendliness that Hoosiers are famous for.

This unique property offers groups a chance to unwind and enjoy this quaint mountain community, just 90 minutes from downtown LA. The house has ample room to stretch out and relax, with lots of nooks and areas to read a book, or have a long conversation. And most importantly, so many places to nap(2 daybeds, a hammock, and outdoor circular bed and a porch swing)! The upstairs has a large kitchen, fully equipped, which is great for making family meals. With two separate living rooms, one on each floor, groups can easily split up, maybe the kids can watch a movie downstairs while the adults chat upstairs. Speaking of kids, they will love going through the secret bookcase door to reach the downstairs. While the upstairs is decorated in boho chic, the downstairs is a whimsical take on "The Secret Garden" and "The Chronicles of Narnia". The hanging bed in the Secret Garden room is my absolute favorite place to sleep in the house. The gentle rocking lulls me to sleep in seconds every time I am there.
We have also made sure that no one gets bored. There is a shuffleboard table in the game room, as well as a dart board. We've stocked the house with a ton of games and jigsaw puzzles. There is a TV on each floor that can connect to netflix, youtube or any other streaming service. The downstairs has a Wii gaming system as well.
We are a short walk to the lake. There is a nice 3 mile path around it for an easy stroll. There is also fishing (the lake is frequently stocked), boating, swimming and in the summer, a large aqua obstacle course.
In the winter, there is sledding nearby and plenty of ski resorts between 20 minutes to 45 minutes away.
We have also made sure that no one gets bored. There is a shuffleboard table in the game room, as well as a dart board. We've stocked the house with a ton of games and jigsaw puzzles.
