This situation is a clear example of someone attempting to take advantage in hopes of receiving a free vacation. From the beginning, the guest’s complaints were continuous and unfounded, immediately wanting refunds from the VRBO service fees to the cleaning and the property itself. VRBO ultimately refunded their service fees, and the guest chose to stay. However, once it became clear that no additional refunds would be granted and I requested that he vacate the property, he eventually left—only to continue harassing me afterward with nonstop calls. At that point, I had to escalate the situation to VRBO for direct involvement, which is exactly why homeowners pay service fees—to be protected and supported in such situations. No homeowner should be subjected to this kind of behavior from a guest. It creates unnecessary stress and fosters distrust in a process that should be simple and respectful on both ends. As for the condition of the home, I have receipts verifying professional cleanings both before and after the guest’s stay. Additionally, this property is in Florida and is regularly serviced by a licensed pest control company on a quarterly basis. Homeowners deserve better protections against guests who exploit the system. This experience has unfortunately made me more cautious in future bookings.

I responded within 24 hours to Brianna. The Pool company only works Monday to Friday so I could not get anyone to the house until Monday. I have confirmation that they fixed the remote (it is connected to wifi so if the wifi goes down the remote needs to be reset) and heated the spa while they were there. It has been so hot in 30A that previous guest had said the Pool and Spa were to hot. There is no way to win in this situation. This is the first I'm hearing about the ice maker usually this happens because they put the setting all the way up and its shuts down. This is the case with any Freezer. We strive to make every guest happy but not everything can get fixed immediately as this guest requesting . I'll happily refund you the pool/spa fee even though it was heated since Monday when the pool company turned it on.
