Visiting the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival? Three Oaks offers the perfect home base—just 15 miles from Flintfields, yet tucked away on nearly five private acres at the edge of Kalkaska where you can escape the Traverse City crowds and truly relax after a long day at the showgrounds.
Three Oaks sits on nearly five acres at the edge of the Village of Kalkaska, offering the perfect mix of small-town convenience and peaceful Northern Michigan space. Surrounded by mature trees and backing up to woods, the property is one of the largest lots in the village—giving guests plenty of room to relax, play, and unwind.
After a day at the showgrounds, you’ll appreciate the easy drive east away from the traffic and congestion of Traverse City while still being close enough to enjoy dinner downtown or spend the day at nearby Torch Lake.
Back at the house, soak in the 8-person hot tub, relax in the hammocks, swing beneath the trees, or gather around the bonfire pit in the evening. The spacious yard offers plenty of room for kids and pets to play, and guests can also enjoy the provided kayaks and river tubes for exploring Northern Michigan’s many lakes and rivers.
The home comfortably accommodates families and groups with three bedrooms (1 king and 2 queen beds), two full bathrooms, and one half bath. A full kitchen, dining room, and two living rooms provide plenty of space to spread out. Additional sleeping options include two queen and one twin air mattress.
Guests also enjoy:
Pet-friendly accommodations
A large selection of board games
Patio seating and grill for outdoor meals
A partially fenced backyard bordering a wooded area
Optional camper hookup available for an additional fee—perfect for larger groups traveling together
Three Oaks is centrally located with easy access to M-72 and US-131, making it easy to explore Traverse City, Torch Lake, Bellaire, Cadillac, the Manistee River, and many other Northern Michigan destinations.
Discounts are available for stays longer than one week.

We both grew up in Kalkaska and attended school here from kindergarten through graduation. We were high school sweethearts and have since raised two sons who are now young adults beginning their journeys in college and the workforce.
We enjoy hosting because it gives our family the opportunity to “camp” with our parents each summer and spend meaningful time together. Those weeks of family time have been such a blessing to us and to our boys over the years. The grandparents especially look forward to having a full house for a couple of months each summer!
Hosting also helps us continue improving the home each season. The extra income allows us to reinvest in upgrades and maintenance so that every year the home is a little better for both our guests and our family.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento
We love the convenience of being in a small town while still having the privacy and space that feels more like a rural setting. The home offers plenty of room to spread out both indoors and in the outdoor spaces, making it a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring Northern Michigan.
Kalkaska is a perfect central location with easy access to Traverse City, Torch Lake, Bellaire, Cadillac, the Manistee River, and Petoskey. Whether guests are visiting for lakes, trails, dining, or events, everything is within an easy drive.
Guests attending the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival especially appreciate heading this direction after a long, hot day at Flintfields rather than driving back into Traverse City traffic. At just 15 miles (about 19 minutes) away, the home provides a peaceful retreat for riders, stable professionals, veterinarians, and families, while still offering convenient access to restaurants and everyday amenities right in Kalkaska.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
One of the things that makes this property truly special is the space. At nearly five acres, it sits on one of the largest lots in town, offering the privacy and peaceful setting of the countryside while still being conveniently located.
Guests especially enjoy relaxing in the covered hot tub in the backyard after a day of exploring Northern Michigan. The large tree swing is another favorite—sturdy enough for adults to enjoy and even give an “underdog” push! Hammocks around the property make it easy to slow down and enjoy the fresh air, and during the summer guests are often welcome to pick a few fresh strawberries from the garden.
We also offer an additional camper hookup, which can be perfect for larger groups or families traveling together. While we do have one nearby neighbor, they are wonderful people who respect guests’ privacy and may simply offer a friendly Midwestern hello if you happen to cross paths outside.
