Located on the southern most point of Kauai, right between Poipu Beach State Park and Shipwreck Beach. Partial ocean view. Nicely remodeled 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo with Lanai. Master bedroom has a king bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds that can be moved together for a king, living room has queen size sofa sleeper. Only 1 parking spot for this unit. There is other street parking. Need to put a parking pass on rearview mirror. Pool, tennis courts, bbq. No early check-ins or late check-outs, sorry.

the perfect place

Everything was perfect, the location, the grounds around the property, the condo was perfect, the hosts were excellent, Whale watching from the lanai, sunsets and sunrises from the lawn 50 feet away, the beach was a short walk, its just such a beautiful place, we will be back, mahalo

Best VRBO we’ve stayed at!

Condo was clean with lots of attention to detail. It was well stocked with all the consumables needed for our stay (like toilet paper, soap, toiletries), as well as a wagon & beach going supplies. Property manager gave lots of local insight and suggestions ahead of stay. During our stay, they were responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful

We had a wonderful time at this property! It was clean, fully stocked with chairs and towels to take to the beach, and the kitchen was awesome! We loved the location, it was close to the beach and convenient.

Nice place, great location

Loved the location within easy walk to Poipu Beach! Property had a nice large kitchen, and enough space for our family of 5. Hot tub was nice and kids enjoyed the pool.

January stay

This is the second time we stayed at this property. It is always wonderful to stay so close to the ocean. We just walk outside to watch the sunset. The kitchen is well stocked. The beds are comfortable. The owners are very accommodating.

Family Vacation

We stayed here for a family get away. The condo was clean and conveniently located beaches, shopping, and restaurants in Poipu. The condo was equipped with boogie boards, and beach chairs which made relaxing at the beach effortless. We enjoyed getting up early and watching the sunrise on our walk to the rocks. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful place to stay.

Great location

We loved the location of this condo. Nice ocean view from the deck. Clean and well stocked. The beach accessories included a wagon to haul everything back and forth to the beach plus the chairs, plenty of towels, boogie board, and umbrella. Such a quick drive to poipu beach. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect home away from home

Perfect spot for our family, my husband and our 3 children (9, 10, & 12) and myself. Very clean, and easy check in. Beautiful location! We enjoyed time on the porch, along with sunsets in the back of the property. Easy to get to everything. We really appreciated all the beach gear we did not have to rent! Thank you for making our stay so special!

The condo was exceptionally clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The owner responded to emails and requests quickly. Although the condo had only partial ocean view; it was the next building from the ocean. It was walkable to Popui beach. We would stay there again.

Beautiful property with amazing views

Owners were great with communication and numerous suggestions. They outlined restaurants, beaches, hiking trails, golf courses etc, etc. The condo was very clean, roomy and had a kitchen with every gadget you could posibly need. Beach towels, chairs and an umbrella were provided.We loved the sunsets and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks.The only downside (which is out of the owners control) is the people who stay in condo above you. If you like to sleep in, it will not happen when families are up at 6:30 running all over.Despite this, we still would rate this a 5 star property.

Kauai stay

The unit itself was very spacious and has everything we needed. It was very close to the ocean, although this part was not one where anyone could swim due to the rocks and force of the waves, but it was an absolutely breathtaking view. Our only recommendation is that the AC vents were a bit dusty and should be cleaned more thoroughly. But all in all, it is a great unit and very close to Poipu beach, where we saw many sea turtles. I would definitely consider satiating here again.

A Cozy Feel Like Home Destination

Upon arrival inside the property looked nice. The theme, colors fit perfectly to the area and our vacation. There were some minor property repairs needed, like the entrance screen door and patio rail, but it looked like they were pending repairs. The pillows and bed sheets were stained and did not have a fresh clean smell, not sure when was the last wash they received specially the pillows/pillow covers. They had a lot of equipment and toys available as there was no note not to touch and were in open closet space. We did not get to use them but can see how a family would really enjoy the room and amenities available inside the rental, pool or nearby beaches. They have video and music streaming, the tv and sound are great to enjoy an evening. The fridge and kitchen are great, we did not get to use it, but this is a great stay for a weeklong trip as it has everything, and most stores are within 30 minute drive.

The host was responsive to messages. House was exactly as described. It was packed with all the amenities our family could wish for. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed all the beach toys and boogie boards. The location was great to all the must do's in Poipu. It was by the best beach as well.

Relaxing quiet stay on the south side

We really enjoyed our stay. The condo is conveniently located on the south side of the island in an area of residential houses and condos. It's a quiet neighborhood. The unit is nicely decorated, clean, and well equipped for cooking at "home" during vacation. Beds and couch were comfortable, with cool A/C when needed (not often), and plenty of fans. Lots of beach gear and towels available for use. Laundry in unit with soap for a few loads while there. We watched numerous whales and turtles from the benches overlooking the ocean right at the edger of the condo complex, and one of the best sunsets on the island can be had just sitting on those rocky cliff edges over the ocean. Nice access to walking paths all the way to Shipwreck beach, or easy to walk side streets down to Poipu beach for some protected swimming, watching the turtles come in to rest at night, or grab a Puka dog and shave ice.Good food trucks and a few restaurants in Koloa a few minutes up the road, but plan ahead as they have very limited hours of service. Otherwise, plan to pick up groceries in Lihue as there is little else available in the immediate area. The condo has a full size fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, with lots of dishes and cookware... so you can stock up on meal items in town.The caretaker was considerate and even contacted us after a stay regarding a piece of jewelry we forgot.We would not hesitate to book this condo again.

A Poipu gem!

What a wonderful stay in this cute, spacious, and kid friendly unit! The place is updated, clean and well equipped, and the property is well-kept and centrally located in Poipu! Highly recommend for families with young children. Can’t wait to come back!

Homey and close to the beach

We stayed here with our infant and were very pleased with our stay! Ample room, very clean, beach towels and chairs available, and just a short walk from the beach. Great communication with the owners before and during our stay. We would come again!

Perfect vacation

We had a wonderful stay at the Makahuena. Poipu beach was walkable, although we usually drove since we had kids and a lot of gear. Plenty of parking. The unit was perfect for the 5 of us. The pool was great for the kids. I was sad to find out the jacuzzi was out of commission as that was part of my search criteria. I was told the heater was broken and it will likely not get fixed for months. The views of sunrise were incredible. I saw dolphins and sea turtles from the property. The kitchen was well stocked. Overall, great experience and would love to come back!

Perfect place for vacation in Kauai

My family and I were blessed to be able to stay at this condo for a few weeks. Simply put, this place is amazing!! The condo has a very functional layout with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We had up to 6 people staying here and it never felt crowded at all. All the furniture was newer and comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and the lanai was large with a phenomenal view. The condo location is great because you can walk a few steps to overlook the ocean, including a blow hole. A 5-10 minute walk puts you right onto Poipu beach, which was so fun to see the turtles coming on shore around 7 pm. Also, the property managers are amazing at offering any assistance once you arrive. We will definitely be looking to rent this unit again. Thank you so much to the owners and property managers!!

Great Place!

Great condo. Very well taken care of and fully stocked with all you need. Condo grounds are awesome, location is great. Owners were helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay again. Plenty of room for family of 5 with three teens.

Just lovely!

The location is amazing! The property is in an older building but you can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into making the unit very welcoming and perfect for guests. We had everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of 5 and we'd gladly return.

Perfect location

This is our 4th time in Kauai, this was our favorite place we have stayed. Close to Shipwreck and Poipu Beach. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and pool. Each night we saw perfect sunsets. Beds in condo were all comfortable (my family is picky when it comes to sleeping). Condo is nicely remolded and well stocked. We can't wait to come back!

Wonderful hosts, quality condo

We have been going to Hawaii now for 20 years and this was our 6th time to Kauai. We agree this was the nicest accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. The condo is represented well in the photos, clean, appreciated the lanai and that you can see the ocean from the place. Plenty of space, in fact, much larger than my husband and I needed. Quality of furnishings was wonderful compared to many we’ve stayed in, appreciated that kitchen was well equipped, although we only made coffee and cut up some fruit, we could have cooked or bar-b-q easily. I appreciated the nicer coffee maker. I chose a place with w/d but never used them. Appreciated how well stocked it was with nice beach chairs, umbrellas, plenty of towels, etc. Very close to Point on Poipu and close to both Poipu/Brenneke Beach or Point/Shipwreck Beach and green belt. Sunrises and Sunsets were great. The people who live there were incredibly friendly and chatty when we watched sunsets there. Saw tons of whales from lanai or on lawn and also many turtles from rocks on property. I appreciated how communicative the hosts were and how responsive they were with any issues and all the suggestions they sent ahead of time. Loved that it was away from the road so you did not have any road noise. The only con, which is no fault of owners was that the individuals above us were incredibly loud and were up every single day of our trip no later than 4 a.m. Still the pros far outweighed the cons and it ensured I was up in time for the beautiful Kauai sunrises.
