Outstanding Value.Comfortable living area with spacious deck.Tropical lush gardens.Low density resort surroundings.Close to poolWell stocked kitchenEasy walk on paved path through Poipu Kai with kids to poipu beach.Wonderful week in a lovely lush setting.A real Hawaiian experience, plenty of shuttered windows so we didnt need AC in November, even though it hit 82 every single day, and it was in the 70's during the night.The kitchen and master bath have had a well done remodel.If you want a sterile perfect luxury experince go to the Grand Hyatt Poipu. If you want to hear the birds and roosters, swim in an uncrowded pool, cook your own meals when you want to and have a living room for kids to relax in, and are willing to sacrafice the waterfront view, and pay a reasonable price, then this place is for you.

Poipu Crater bliss

Quiet hideaway in a growing resort area. Although older, the unit is well maintained, is superbly equipped with amenities for a comfortable life over the 7 weeks we spent there.

Always nice to stay at the Poipu Crater

We have stayed multiple times in this resort and we enjoy it. We particularly appreciated that this condo was not in direct sunlight. This kept the daytime temperatures very reasonable. Jean's communication ahead of time was excellent and the listing and the photos gave us accurate information as to what to expect.

Good Location

The online description was accurate, the owner is quick to email and answer any questions and gives you lots of information specific to the island beforehand. Check in and out was very easy. Linens all smelled fresh, though there was a little dead millipede(?) in one of the beds, and more and more came into the condo each day. It is the rainiest island, so maybe that just comes with the territory. I don't know that anywhere else would have been any different. The A/C was a must. I can't imagine staying on the island without it. We seemed to have neighbors (saw cars in the parking lot) but for the most part the grounds were quiet and the pool was mostly ours. There were plenty of neat beaches/hikes/sites nearby. We didn't walk to them because we didn't want to carry our gear, but it was probably possible. Condo had nice beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, an umbrella, and plenty of towels. One caveat, we are a 6 person family, and though our little kids didn't mind sleeping on the hide-a-bed, it was cramped when we tried to gather in the family room or kitchen. For those with a 6 person family, you might opt to say somewhere bigger.

Labor Day Weekend in Poipu

This condo was in a fantastic location in Poipu! It was a 10 minute walk to Brennecke’s Beach and a 6 min drive to Shipwreck Beach. The condo complex was very quiet and peaceful when we were there, which was perfect for using the onsite pool. The condo had all the kitchen amenities we needed for making meals, but we did for most of our meals. I couldn’t figure out how to work the air conditioner in the upstairs bedroom so we just slept in the downstairs bedroom. There were three large tower fans and a ceiling fan in the kitchen that we kept on all of the time with the windows open. The condo stayed pretty comfortable with the fans and windows open. The best part of the condo was Jean, the host. She is excellent with communication. There were a couple of minor glitches while we were there and Jean was very attentive to address them. For example, the carafe for the coffee maker had a crack and Jean responded to my email within 30 minutes and ordered a new one as soon as I let her know. Jean relies on her guests to address anything that needs to be fixed in the condo and she was very appreciative of me letting her know about the minor things that needed to be fixed. The condo is a little dated in some aspects but, overall, it was a great place to stay. If we visit Kauai again, I will be booking Jean’s condo again.

First visit to Kauai

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the property. The owner was great to work with and provided a lot of helpful local information. One of the best stock condos I have ever rented. The pool was recently resurfaced and was great and very convenient. The location was close to beaches and restaurants although there is some hilly terrain (since you are in a crater) Loved all the vegetation and bird life. And no chickens in sight!

Great place to stay in Kauai!

My partner and I had a lovely time staying here. The location was great and we loved how quiet the neighborhood is. The house is really nice too. Highly recommended!

Perfect place

I have stayed twice before on Kauai. This was far and above the best home I have had there. I say home because I felt at home as soon as we walked in. It is in a small crater, don't worry it's extinct, as a result there is no sounds from the surrounding area. The area in lush and green, this helps reduce sounds from within the crater. There are NO chickens. The house itself is fully stocked with everything you need for keeping house, far beyond anywhere else I have stayed in all of Hawaii. The bed in the master bedroom is perfect. I can't think of anything negative to say about our experience there. I want to thank the owners for making this a perfect vacation.

Great location, spacious for family

We loved the convenient location of this condo. It was so close to the beach and local restaurants. It was comfortable for a family, with two floors. We had some issues with bugs, but the host responded promptly and had them out to spray as soon as they could come, given the holiday. It was nice to have boogie boards and beach chairs available, as we were traveling from far away! Laundry on-site was a plus.

No better place to stay than the Crater.

We had a great family reunion at the crater. We had 2 units and it worked out perfectly. We had ages 2 to 82 and everything in between. A quiet pool, to swim play and relax in, tennis, ping pong, poolside side bbq and a clean comfortable unit to relax in, and a very nice communicative host. Jean was great! I highly recommend staying here. The Crater is a one of a kind, very special resort and this is a very nice clean unit to stay in.

Relaxed location with great pool an tennis court

Great place and wonderful location

Used this as our base for a week in island. Worked very well for our needs- my husband and I and our adult daughter and her boyfriend. Walking distance to two great beaches. Perfect distances for our morning walks. Do know there is some hill work involved. The neighborhood is in a crater. Simply beautiful! So lush!! Owners very graciously accommodated our departure timeline needs. Communication and generosity appreciated.

Great location and well kept property, perfect for the family.

We stayed here for 10 days. it was a great location and clean. It's very useable for a family with kids and we were able to use the kitchen to help save on food costs while in Hawaii. It's close to one of the best family beaches on the island. The owners communicated well and made sure we were taken care of. 5 stars!

Excellent value

This Poipu Crater unit was the perfect accommodation for our family group. It easily fits four, with room for one more on the sofabed in the living room if necessary. The unit was clean and well equipped. The convenient and quiet location, along with the dedicated parking spot, added to the value. It's not the most luxurious apartment but it is definitely one of the best for the price.

My husband and I have been coming to Kauai every year since 1971 when my parents retired in Koloa. When visiting the island one year we saw an open house at Poipu Crater and fell in love with the location, spacious floor plan and the tropical landscaping . We purchased #27 soon after that but used a rental manager until 2022. When he could no longer manage the several condos he represented, we decided we could give it a try. Even though we live in Oceanside, California, we were fortunate to have a wonderful, efficient housekeeper who keeps our condo in terrific condition.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

There are many vacation rentals near Poipu Beach but our complex, Poipu Crater is unique with only 30 units spread out over several acres of tropical landscaping. Although there is not an ocean view the most popular south shore beaches are just a short 10 minute walk away. With only 2 units to a building, there are no one above or below you and only one shared wall. Both bathrooms and kitchen have been completely remodeled and new living room furniture will be added in June, 2023/

Our condo is on the shady side of the complex. There is usually a nice breeze. If it is very warm, there are ceiling fans, floor fans in all rooms and air conditioning in the bedrooms. Parking is just a 1 minute walk away
